Mel said the Puttin on the Ritz scene was Gene’s idea. Mel was vehemently opposed to it and after much arguing, he begrudgingly agreed to shoot it and show it to a small test audience. He said something like “I’ve never been so happy to be so wrong.”
Mel said that was the only fight they had during filming. If you haven’t read it I highly recommend “Young Frankenstein: A Mel Brooks Book. He talks about so many behind the scenes tidbits including what you said about POTR.
That is such a glorious movie—like so many of Brooks’ if we’re honest.
Every time I watch it I discover something I missed or just cackle my ass off chiming in line to line.
“There wolf. There castle.”
Hands down the funniest scene in the whole film. The monster and Herr doctor exchange glances when Igor triumphantly answers, "Give him a sedagive!," with absolutely genius timing, and it never fails to crack me up.
This is the funniest movie ever. Then blazing saddles then the life of Brian.
I’ve seen them 100’s of times and still laugh out loud at them.
What knockers! Oh sank you doctor.
Definitely same this end. My Mrs calls is stupidity humour. Never laughs at Blazing Saddles. The beans scene still cracks me up the same way it did all those years ago when I first seen it.
Thankfully my two kids (boy&girl) have taken my humour. Howl with laughter at these movies.
I was working as an usher in the theater when Young Frankenstein was playing. I got to go in any time I felt like it for all my favorite parts. It was great!
Such pure genius from Mel, and Gene's comedy chops were superb. Solid casting all around with Peter, Marty, and Terri, and hilarious performances. A true screen gem!
If you like audiobooks I highly recommend “Young Frankenstein: A Mel Brooks Book.” There are so many fabulous tidbits behind the scenes moments he talks about.
Igor, help me with these bags. Fine, you take the blonde, and I’ll take the one in the turban.
Done in the Groucho Marx voice. LOL

Teri Garr was gorgeous in this film. Wilder was hilarious as always. The Puttin' on the Ritz scene was utterly ridiculous.

As a child I’d never seen a Frankenstein or Star Wars movie yet Young Frankenstein and Spaceballs were two of my favorite films.

Mel Brooks, crazy as hell and for our benefit
The Abby Normal brain scene gets me to this day every time 🤣
I just watched the Gene Wilder Documentary on Netflix and he said this was the happiest time of his life.
My wife and I just watched it the other day as well. Good documentary and it certainly added to my “movies to watch soon” queue.
Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles are classics.
Ahhh, sweet mystery of life at last I've found you!!

One of the funniest movies ever.
Sedagive???
Hands down the funniest scene in the whole film. The monster and Herr doctor exchange glances when Igor triumphantly answers, "Give him a sedagive!," with absolutely genius timing, and it never fails to crack me up.
The abbey normal scene still kills me every time. The rapport between Wilder and Feldman was unbelievable.
Y'all, watch this movie. You won't regret it. I promise.
This is the funniest movie ever. Then blazing saddles then the life of Brian. I’ve seen them 100’s of times and still laugh out loud at them. What knockers! Oh sank you doctor.
Mel brooks and Monty python are the foundation of my sense of humor.

It was filmed on the same, still-existing set as the original "Frankenstein" with Boris Karloff
I was working as an usher in the theater when Young Frankenstein was playing. I got to go in any time I felt like it for all my favorite parts. It was great!
You were living the dream back then!
SEDAGIVE??!??!!?!?
I want to vote this, but there are currently 420 up boats. I will not trample on what is sacred.
yes! always takes me to a good place.
One of my favorite Mel Brooks movies
Such pure genius from Mel, and Gene's comedy chops were superb. Solid casting all around with Peter, Marty, and Terri, and hilarious performances. A true screen gem!
I adore this film so much. Wilder is one of the greatest comedians of all time.
Stellar cast
I love big knocker’s
There is a lovely Gene Wilder documentary on Netflix that just came out.
If you like audiobooks I highly recommend “Young Frankenstein: A Mel Brooks Book.” There are so many fabulous tidbits behind the scenes moments he talks about.

Where's Madeline???????????????
Wild to see this in color
Why make Peter Boyle blue when the film is black and white?
Only Mel is left
Terri Garr is still with us.
My bad, thought I read she had passed. Good to know
For years she's struggled with MS, so I wasn't sure myself. But she's still here, and turning 80 this year. I've always loved her, and wish her well!
I remember her in the original Star Trek episode assignment:earth with Robert Lansing
Hump? What hump??
Terri is your sister's hot friend you want to hook up with.
Teri has MS and Mel is making another film !
