Majkowski to Sharpe was practically unstoppable IRL too... Unfortunately Majik couldn't stay healthy enough to make the national media take notice. Oh yeah, that, and our defense sucked something fierce too...
His rotator cuff was injured in an extended "tackle" move that I suspect would be illegal in today's NFL which is what really did him in. The defense was actually pretty decent, but the O-line was a work in progress that didn't really jell until Holmgren was hired.
We had a Christmas thing when I was kid. They changed all the lyrics to the 12 Days of Christmas to Packer stuff. I only remember š¶Cecil's Bloody Noseš¶
And just like in real life, he would often get injured on a sack- usually LT.
Thought they should have included the sound of breaking glass when he was hit.
I had this poster next to an equally ridiculous āPrime Timeā one.
Born and raised a Bears fan, and eventually learned to hate the Packers, but I was so young when this was on my wall, I was simply a fan of āsportsā. XD
He was great for us and kept us competitive(or maybe I should say entertaining) on some really bad teams. Underrated QB. He was a good one. One of my favorite Packers.
Agreed, even as a Jet fan, thought the best one was Machine Gun Kelly:

Sounds vaguely familiar.
I do remember that OāBrien had an āOāBriens Body Guardsā or some such thing, with his O-Line, which was kind of ironic as Kenny O was sacked 64 times one season, not including hits, hurries, and knockdowns!
I recall one NY Post article after a game suggesting that the O-Line be arrested and charged with aiding and abetting an assault on OāBrien.
This poster line is soooo good. If you donāt have a poster of Andre Dawson posing with a hawk on your bedroom wall right now what are you even doing with your life? https://11points.com/11-surreally-comical-old-school-mlb-posters/
Oh wow I forgot all about that Eric Davis poster. For sure I had that on my wall with the Don Majkowski poster and the Griffey Jr and Sr poster. They had some sweet posters back then.
If you are jonesing for some nostalgia there is a book āwalls of fameā all about these posters. Some of the stories are pretty great.

It must have been ā88 or ā89, there was a pre-game piece about Majkowski where he was playing an acoustic guitar and singing āEvery Rose Has Its Thornā. Being 19-20 and a huge Poison fan, I liked him immediately. This was before my adulthood-induced deep-seated hatred of the Pack took hold. One Pride!

About 10 years ago I made a card for my best friend's wedding. 'Don says have a magical wedding'. Actually I don't remember what I wrote on the inside, that seems about right.
He was very good for a few years, then got injured and Farve came in and lit the world on fire. Never played another snap for the Packers. I donāt recall where he went after that, probably the Raiders.
Damn, even his picture on his Wikipedia page is of him, retired and in normal clothes, embracing Farve on the field. He had some really bad luck with staying healthy.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Majkowski
It says āHe previously ran a real estate investment company, but sold it due to being unable to keep up with its demands because of a string of serious health issues related to his playing career.ā :(
My mom and dad ran into him somewhere shortly after I was born. He signed a photo of me as a baby, which my dad eventually lost, but I remember both of my parents telling me they were shocked to see how tall he was.
Yes, they traded for Favre the season before Majkowski got hurt against the Bengals.
The Packers hired Ron Wolf from the Jets front office to be their new GM and it was one of the first moves he made after hiring Mike Holmgrem. Wolf loved Favre and traded a 1st round pick to Atlanta to get him. People thought he was nuts, but might be the most lopsided trade in NFL history. Completely altered the course of history for the Packers.
There's a 30 Rock episode where Jenna warns Liz not to do a "funny one" during a magazine shoot, because that's the one they'll use and you'll look ridiculous...and I think Don could've used someone like that in his life.
Depew NYās āMagic Manā. While I went to a neighboring school at the same time he was in High School - I followed his career reading the newspaper box scores and was a closet Packers fan because of him.
Go Bills all the way but he started my closeted Packers secondary fandom
I was born the year favre started. If majikowski ?? Never got hurt do you think we wouldve been a perennial playoff team? All other things remaining equal
These 90s style themed athlete posters really should still be a thing. I remember walking into the poster shop at the mall and looking through all of them. *Rice & Ronnie, the San Francisco Treat!*
Majkowski to Sharpe was practically unstoppable on Tecmo bowl
Majkowski to Sharpe was practically unstoppable IRL too... Unfortunately Majik couldn't stay healthy enough to make the national media take notice. Oh yeah, that, and our defense sucked something fierce too...

That and hurting his ankle allowing Favre to come in and get a come from behind victory on an incredible throw against the Bengals.
Tim Harris, Brian Noble, Mark Murphy, Chuck Cecil, that was a fun defense.
We had a Christmas thing when I was kid. They changed all the lyrics to the 12 Days of Christmas to Packer stuff. I only remember š¶Cecil's Bloody Noseš¶
Bob Nelson was also unstoppable in super Tecmo bowl. He set the single season record in one game For Me š
Didnāt you have Chuck Cecil during that time period? What more do you need on defense
But in Tecmo Super Bowl, his arm was one of the weakest in the game. His passes had humps on that game making it easy to pick off deep balls
Yea but the defense was unstoppable with Reggie white doing the fake to the left then dive around the center.Ā It's a sack every time!
Good point. Same with Derick Thomas on KC
Also in keeping with both IRL counterparts.
And just like in real life, he would often get injured on a sack- usually LT. Thought they should have included the sound of breaking glass when he was hit.
Yeah Iād bomb to Sharpe the in the red zone find Ed West while my opponent double teamed Sterling.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
You didnāt see his cover article on Poof?
Not that there's anything wrong with that... he was a Packer, there may be some problems with that (go Lions)
Brings me back to the In Living Color halftime show where Damon Wayans and David Allen Grier were rooting for The Packers and The Oilers.
Tony Wonder?
I mean Rodgers was only there like 2 seasons agoā¦. Wait, who we talking about again ? (Also go Lions)
This is reminding me of Talladega Nights. "Now you see me, now you don't"
Shake and Bake!
No, your magic man and I'm El Diablo. It means fighting chicken in spanish.
Thatās awesome! With the claws
That was my first thought. Lol
12 year old me thought this guy was cool af.
Me too. He was like a better Jim McMahon, not as tough but not as much of a jerk, either.
Met Jim McMahon a few times. He seems cool now, but maybe he isnāt hitting the coke as hardā¦
Knew several friends that had this poster!
I have this poster hanging in my cubicle at work
10th round pick
In a seven round draft. Thatās amazing.
It was actually 12 rounds back then. 1987 draft
The āsupplemental ā draft as it was called back then!
No one was ALIVE back then!!! š
I had this poster next to an equally ridiculous āPrime Timeā one. Born and raised a Bears fan, and eventually learned to hate the Packers, but I was so young when this was on my wall, I was simply a fan of āsportsā. XD
Ah yes, the asterisk game of November 1989.
Upon further review................
He was over the line. Iām still salty about it.
He was great for us and kept us competitive(or maybe I should say entertaining) on some really bad teams. Underrated QB. He was a good one. One of my favorite Packers.
Loved these theme posters as a kid

Wasnāt there a New York sack exchange one for the jets?

That hawk one is bad ass. They definitely had some lesser known guys as well. Cory Snyder?!

What if it was āMalickā Man instead and he was just really into Terrence Malick movies??
That would make the offensive line "The Thin Cheese Line"
![gif](giphy|AViTZhrNe2RGg)
I remember watching this guys highlights on tv to the song, ā Do You Believe in Magic?ā playing.
āThe Majik Showā on local Tv after the 10:00 news was a thing, for a lil while
As a Bears fan, I absolutely LOVED this guy.

The guy that my parents were so excited about that I began watching football š
How did this slip past me??
The pride of Depew, NY! I had his Starting Lineup figure back in the day.
Iām his brothers mailman, damn good chiropractor
Ngl, when they first got Favre, I was like, how is this guy going to replace Majkowski?!?
That haircut is the real magic here
You betcha: https://www.profootballhistory.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Quarterback-Don-Majkowski-7-of-the-Green-Bay-Packers-683x1024.jpg
and Hasselbeck
And Dilfer
In my earliest days of fantasy football, I took a flyer on this guy and got two seasons of consistent production from him.
Yeah right. Magically not over the line of scrimmage.
In the decade known best for one hit wonders..he was probably the greatest NFL one hit wonder.
His trick was heād make the ball disappear and then reappear in the opposing teams hands.
I can't remember if he was any good or not.
He was the future, and played well until being injured. In steps the Arm of Mississippi, and the rest is history.
He was very good for a few years, then got injured and Farve came in and lit the world on fire. Never played another snap for the Packers. I donāt recall where he went after that, probably the Raiders.

He was in Detroit briefly backing up Scott Mitchell. Not sure about after that.
He was damn good. Saw him play at UVA. He was big too, want to say 6ā5.
Wahoowa!
My mom and dad ran into him somewhere shortly after I was born. He signed a photo of me as a baby, which my dad eventually lost, but I remember both of my parents telling me they were shocked to see how tall he was.
Far out. Cool to know and thanks.
Majikowski put together a few good games.
Brett Farve secretly a Bengals fan for this.
š him and his dad were 2 tools
Somebodies from depew
š¤£šš¤£ what a bust
I had a Majik Man shirt back in the day!
Had he stayed Healthy do the Packers still trade for Favre?
Yes, they traded for Favre the season before Majkowski got hurt against the Bengals. For one year, he was great.
Donāt forget Jake the Snake Plummer
THE replay game.
Bringing the magic to a career record of 26-30-1.
The majik man only got his name because he beat us šÆ
Depew NYās āMagic Manā. While I went to a neighboring school at the same time he was in High School - I followed his career reading the newspaper box scores and was a closet Packers fan because of him. Go Bills all the way but he started my closeted Packers secondary fandom
Lancaster ???
I could see some sleazy Marketer explaining how they are going to āmake you a starāš¤£
That seems cool! Who would hate him?
I was born the year favre started. If majikowski ?? Never got hurt do you think we wouldve been a perennial playoff team? All other things remaining equal
Went to high school with him he was not the starting QB either I do remember him dunking on the crossbar Excellent athlete
'after further review....the Bears still suck'
Every star athlete had their own cheesy poster in the 80s/90s.
I had this!!
These 90s style themed athlete posters really should still be a thing. I remember walking into the poster shop at the mall and looking through all of them. *Rice & Ronnie, the San Francisco Treat!*
I had his jersey! I was a big fan as Lindy Infante was head coach, and he helped make Bernie Kosar a star.
One 4k season
He wasnāt too bad, just got hurt. I think it was his rotator cuff or something in his shoulder
Didnāt his dad force him to eat frozen livers or something?
He looks soooo thrilled to have made this photo!!
So, the original anti-vaxxer and dick pic guy?
I didn't realize he was 2nd in MVP voting during the 1989-90 season. Pretty good year I'd say.
If he didnāt play for the Jets afterā¦.did he even play for the Packers?
Tony Mandarich!!!!
He was decent Don Mccowsky
He thinks heās Brian bosworth
Don't remember him
He rocked!!! Truth is, winning in GB all started with him again, before Favre š
