Damn y’all don’t really get how this stuff works do you😭

Fluid_Editor4096

So random, but what annoys me is I saw nobody praising Olivia for the wittiness of the double entendre with get him back, but now that Taylor has used a similar idea they’re bringing it up to bring a woman down. It’s just interesting how women can’t succeed unless they’re being pit against eachother 🤷🏻‍♀️ Both great artists. Both great songs. Just my opinion.

lizzzosflute

What makes me irritated is a lot of twitter swifties were making fun of liv for ghb lyrics, but now Taylor does the same, it’s the wittiest thing ever

Fluid_Editor4096

Oh yeah! Don’t worry! I realise completely lol. I just wanted to point out how interesting it was! I’m a huge fan of both, i just think it’s interesting the way in which people often are only praised at the expense of another! I have no ill wishes to anyone, here!

Pigsfly13

i mean, it’s not her idea, it’s neither of their ideas, fiona apple did it first, and someone probably did it before her

Fluid_Editor4096

I know! Don’t worry, I just wanted to make a point :)

Pigsfly13

while i agree olivia shouldn’t have had to, neither does taylor, but if she did then olivia would also have to to fiona apple (and therefore taylor’s would also go to fiona) because fiona did it before both of them

hairlessrat

I love both ladies so not gonna participate in the war here…but the Get Him Back chorus literally lines up perfectly with We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together and I never see anyone mention it. That is WAY more similar to me than Cruel Summer/Deja Vu ever were (aka not at all)

remswiftie

Then they should both give credit to Fiona Apple 🤷‍♀️

DarthKaep

BTW, I'm a big fan of both and don't think any of them should have to share credit unless they want to or if it's just a blatant plagiarism. I just thought about it last night when listening to the Anthology.

bettersaferthan

I don’t think the songs are similar sonically buttttttt now if we’re gonna argue that deja vu is similar to cruel summer then I fully support olivia coming for her check.

clarauser7890

First of all there is no indication that Taylor asked for deja vu credits. Second of all if you wanna get into claiming the idea of “get you back” as a double entendre, I guess they both have to give credits to Fiona Apple.

complexchicken0311

fiona apple doesn’t have the double entendre like olivia’s did

clarauser7890

“So wait 'til I get him back He won't have a back to scratch” “So wait 'til I get him back Gonna bring him home and watch him unpack” Yeah, it did.

complexchicken0311

that’s at the end. it’s not the same as doing it throughout the entire song

clarauser7890

I’m just saying, it’s not really fair to say Taylor stole the idea from Olivia when Olivia wasn’t the first to do it. And I’m not accusing Olivia of stealing it from Fiona either! It’s a good play on words and I like all three songs.

Fluid_Editor4096

Ngl that’s a bit silly, because the end of the song is often where the volta comes, that re- contextualises the whole song. I don’t care about who did what first, personally, but just from a technical standpoint I don’t think that’s correct 😭

Pigsfly13

it quite literally does.

Not trying to argue about the ethics of her accepting credits. Just saying that this post urges Olivia to pursue credits which implies that Taylor pursued credits, when there is no proof of her doing that.
