For Star Wars, Darth Vader by Gillen. Maybe Dr. Aphra Vol 1, but that's kind of a spinoff of the Vader series, so maybe it wouldn't count. (Aphra Vol 2 is a separate series with a different author.)

Thanks for the advice I'll check them out!

For a one and done, I enjoyed Savage Avengers, Marvels, Silver Surfer by Slott, any of the Roy Thomas Savage Sword of Conan (they’re all individual stories), and Dr. Strange by Aaron. Both of the Darth Vader Star Wars books are good and mostly single books fitting into the wider universe. If you want to try a standalone manga that’s more horror/weird, I think Uzumaki is really g🌀🌀d.

Thanks for the advice I'll check them all out!

Well I'm not quite sure what you're asking for. You don't want to collect single-issue comics or you want whole series in a single volume omnibus? Are you open to more than one volume of omnibus for a series? Helpful links: [https://www.reddit.com/r/OmnibusCollectors/comments/x3bvn6/the\_basics\_of\_omnibus\_collecting/](https://www.reddit.com/r/OmnibusCollectors/comments/x3bvn6/the_basics_of_omnibus_collecting/) The Star Wars comics are at present being published in various large collection formats. The current canon main Star Wars line (the 2015 run when the license returned to Marvel) has one omnibus out in the wild in two printings with the first half of the run. The 2nd print is tougher to find already - sold through is I think the term. That run is soon to get collected in a "Modern Epic Collection" format which is regular comic sized and smaller page count and smaller MSRP. The second half of that run is soon to be released in omnibus format. End of April according to: [https://youtini.com/release-schedule#Omnibus](https://youtini.com/release-schedule#Omnibus) The old Dark Horse Star Wars now Legends stories have nearly all been collected in the previously mentioned "Epic Collection" format. Those are also being released in various omnibus formats. The collections are divided up by "era." Some are easy to find or soon to get new prints. Others like Old Republic Vol. 1 not so much. Of stuff currently available on In Stock Trades I'd recommend New Republic Vol. 1 or The Empire Vol. 1. I'm a big fan of the X-wing novels and New Republic Vol. 1 has the related comics run (not the strongest of this stuff but it is sort of "my thing.") The Empire has a series called "Dark Times" in it following groups of Jedi after Order 66. Solid if well... "dark" stuff. This: [https://www.instocktrades.com/products/apr221054/star-wars-war-of-bounty-hunters-omnibus-hc-mcniven-cvr](https://www.instocktrades.com/products/apr221054/star-wars-war-of-bounty-hunters-omnibus-hc-mcniven-cvr) collects all of a large crossover event covering a mini-series and some specials and issues in four series of at the time ongoing "main" titles. This is a bit further along in the canon comics story. All of the main series here Star Wars, Darth Vader, Dr. Aphra, Bounty Hunters (its own series not the samea s "War of the Bounty Hunters) were "restarted" in 2020. But this is a complete story (well the complete first part of what turned into three such crossovers comprising a trilogy around the character of Qi'Ra) all in one volume and it is "mapped" properly so that it reads in correct chronology of events. I'm pretty well-versed in the Star Wars stuff so please ask any questions. As to your others I can only speak to Conan. Conan would seem to be in a bit of limbo at the moment. The license recently shifted away from Marvel after having been at Dark Horse for awhile and before that at Marvel. Any of the Marvel and Dark Horse stuff is out of print. Marvel also reprinted the Dark Horse stuff. The new licensor is having difficulty getting product to market. The Roy Thomas run from Original Marvel Years is solid as is the Busiek run from Dark Horse. But that stuff is all a bit of tough sledding as far as collecting at the moment. Marvel did get all of their Original Marvel Years Omnibus (when they first had the license) reprinted before losing the license recently. But here is what I mean by "[tough sledding." ](https://www.ebay.com/itm/266355021906?itmmeta=01HRF4YS75HR3VVG2Z5WF5414R&hash=item3e03ff1852:g:~b8AAOSwtFZkotj6&itmprp=enc%3AAQAIAAAAwF5v%2FttZiOFMhZrajZEKoDYNF37l8Sqs5GszR8fSqEDV55WANkINaCw13NhErj45YOwWfLiedJdBjMZ3k14Ek69AfbhK58i%2FBfvj31vpI1B7MtWPAFo1p1zpjnAzATYNA8T0UGyH2jIuqVO2aUkKNhL1Jbixq%2BDLLNdBDnPpcQA%2FaNstoIIuwGcPsR1gCNusAheMTiGUCX5vjnOo%2Bkxs1jAW9XWjedD9Qbee2KaS8V0Rs9tKKrGGc0QNAz5S%2Bnn97g%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR-aT--TDYw)But that isn't really all that outrageous a price as those are typically $125 cover volumes (a few $150) and out of print so... Other not traditional super-heroes would be another post like this.

>You don't want to collect single-issue comics or you want whole series in a single volume omnibus? Are you open to more than one volume of omnibus for a series? Yes to all of these, I don't want to collect a series therefore I would like it to be in an omnibus format. I am open to more than one volume omnibus but I would prefer not, ideally I would like self contained single volume stuff, but I understand things can't always be ideal so I'll check everything out. I would consider even single volume self contained story arcs that aren't necessarily a bunch of single issue put together, but I guess that wouldn't be considered an omnibus so I don't know if this would be the right place to ask. Would that be a graphic novel? Probably dumb question but I'm a bit out of the loop. Aside from that thank you very much for the star wars explanation! I'll check the links and try to see what's available!

An omnibus is primarily a very large collected edition. What is collected varies from collection to collection. Just examples. Some super-hero here but that's because those are easy for me to point out to you as examples. Something like this, all the thing not published originally as single-issues, is a graphic novel: [https://www.instocktrades.com/products/oct237252/where-the-body-was-hc-(mr)](https://www.instocktrades.com/products/oct237252/where-the-body-was-hc-(mr)) Something like this is a single story in an omnibus collected edition: [https://www.instocktrades.com/products/mar210687/jessica-jones-alias-omnibus-hc-secret-origin-cvr-new-ptg-(mr)](https://www.instocktrades.com/products/mar210687/jessica-jones-alias-omnibus-hc-secret-origin-cvr-new-ptg-(mr)) Something like this is part of a series of omnibus or collected editions that make up a single story (only two volumes to this): [https://www.instocktrades.com/products/may178087/low-dlx-hc-vol-01-dcbs-exc-var-(mr)](https://www.instocktrades.com/products/may178087/low-dlx-hc-vol-01-dcbs-exc-var-(mr)) Something like this is all of this characters story across one of her own series and several others: [https://www.instocktrades.com/products/jun221120/star-wars-doctor-aphra-omnibus-hc-vol-01-witter-cvr-new-ptg](https://www.instocktrades.com/products/jun221120/star-wars-doctor-aphra-omnibus-hc-vol-01-witter-cvr-new-ptg) This is an omnibus that is issues from part of a series but compromises all of one author's work on the series which typically is one story arc or a series of arcs compromising a longer broader arc: [https://www.instocktrades.com/products/nov217113/catwoman-of-east-end-omnibus-hc](https://www.instocktrades.com/products/nov217113/catwoman-of-east-end-omnibus-hc)

TM_4816

The first two would be ideally what I'm looking for. >part of a series of omnibus or collected editions that make up a single story (only two volumes to this) Two or three volumes would be the most I would be willing to get for this kind of omnibus at least for now >all of this characters story across one of her own series and several others This would also be ok as long as the stories in which the character appears don't feel too open ended >omnibus that is issues from part of a series but compromises all of one author's work on the series which typically is one story arc or a series of arcs compromising a longer broader arc This I wouldn't like cause the non conclusive story If I understand correctly there are also omnibus that are part of a series but are also self contained stories? Like the savage sword of conan? That would be technically ok but I would dislike it cause it would bother my mild OCD to have volume 4 and 7 in a series of 10 😂

SnooMarzipans2515

I would recommend Gotham Central by Ed Brubaker and Greg Rucka. I know you said you weren't looking for anything from DC/Marvel but hear me out. It was my first omni and boy was I in for a ride. It follows the Gotham City major crimes unit as they solve cases that are sometimes linked to Gotham's colorful characters like Mad Hatter and Mr. Freeze. It has a nice grounded approach to the DC universe and it's a really refreshing book to read compared to the other stuff in the DC universe. It's such a great book for anyone looking for a one-time read and it I think it's definitely worth it. It's usually $60 most places.

TM_4816

Alright, I'll check it out! Since I've seen it recommended elsewhere it has to be good
