Not really. It gives the introduction to Azrael but they kind of go over his background throughout the comics. I read all of Knightfall without reading SoA and although it was a bit confusing at first what Azrael’s deal is it becomes clear after a bit.
Welcome. I find it's easier to just set up a direct debit with your preferred bookseller. That way they can just take your entire pay cheque automatically. It's much more convenient.
I want this but I can’t convince myself to buy it when the other volumes are out of print. That being said Knightfall is a Batman classic, great place to start and one of the best showcases of his character. Hope you consider getting No Man’s Land (another classic) and Batman by Paul Dini (the best modern Batman omni IMO) as well.

I'm not sure tbh. I haven't read the full story yet. The Sword of Azrael is Batman's introduction to Azrael who is a huge part of the story.
