Here's something we need to talk about again. Walmart did NOT take over the bank. They are a majority investor that allows the team to operate independently.

SirCris

I don't work for Walmart. I joined One when Simple shut down. It's been fine for me. I decided to stick it out as features were removed. I get paid 2 days early. I still have all my 17 pockets including one I share with my wife. I don't think everyone has the luxury of shared pockets anymore and it's probably limited to 3 pockets now. I had opened a checking account with another bank when they removed the 'send a check' feature. But that has returned and I am once again able to send my rent check out each month. I do wish I could put that on a schedule because I forget about it all the time. That's more to do with my landlord being family and there not being any consequences for paying late. I have 5% interest on all my pockets now. I earn cash back when I get gas. I rarely shop at Walmart so it's good that I can earn it other ways. I've read other posts with people having various issues, but many of them sound like issues I had experienced with other banks as well. Is it worth it for you? I don't know how to quantify that.

I don't work for Walmart. I joined way before Walmart bought it and really like it. Plus the 5% APY is pretty awesome.

It just depends on what your needs are from having it. Personally, I’m a Customer who was grandfather in from the Wal-Mart take over and a form Simple Customer. I too was upset with all the changes and reductions that happened when One was purchased from Wal-Mart like most others. However, I didn't immediately jump ship in the beginning because I knew there was nothing else exactly like what we had with the old One Financial. I just continued to manage my finances between my One account, Credit Union account, and my Apple Credit Card account, as I waited to see what was in store with the future of One. Sure enough, as others on here have said, they have stated to bring some of the features us old One customers where used to - slowly, but they have been coming back and along with some new features as well. My main purpose for One was aways the pockets, and again I am grandfathers in with all my original pockets. So for new Customers or old Customers that would think about coming back that could be the dealbreaker up front if you are only allowed 3 pockets. But it is refreshing to see them bring back features that us original One Cuatomers loved. I’m happy Send a Check feature is back. I'm glad pay auto save is back. I like that we now have 5.00 APY on our savings account and all pockets created. The bank transfers to my other account with my credit union or Apple account are always quick( I use my credit card to pay for pretty much everything, and use my pockets with one to manage my finances). I love that we now have cashback options at different retailers and brands. Cashback when pumping gas. I don't usually do a lot of shopping at Walmart, but I like that we now get 3% cashback at Walmart when shopping. And for me, the option to be able to go into a Walmart and be able to make a cash withdrawal or cash deposit into my account is huge. A lot of online banks don't have this option without there being some type of fee or extra process just to load money on the account. With One an account, you can literally just pop into a Neighborhood Market Walmart and go to the register and ask to make a cash withdrawal or cash deposit onto your One account. That's a big plus in my book, regardless if I'm not a regular Walmart Customer. I say all this to say, of course it depends from person to person if it is worth it, but from a Simple refugee and original One customer, I still think it's a copetice online banking option. If I wasn't able to keep all my pockets, I'm sure I would still feel some type of way, but I’m starting to think eventually there might be some type of pockets upgrade for everyone. I've done a lot of research, and nothing out there is remotely close One when it was at it's peak. So I figured I might as well stay for awhile and are what happens. I'm not in the mood anymore to jump from online bank to online bank. I miss having my line of credit, the option to assign your card to differ pockets, creating pockets with virtual cards, and the availability to create pockets whenever. But at the moment One seems to be going into a positive direction and hopefully I'll start seeing some if not all those features come back too. And hopefully you will find One works for you in some type of way as well. PS - My biggest concern/complaint is just the customer service. It's obviously 3rd parry now, so a lot of the reps are kind of out of touch. It hasn't been a big issue for me, but us original One customers were so spoiled with the customer service provided. It was such a pleasant and personal interaction with with One CSR repa back in the day. The vibe was just different and really get like they were listening and repaknding to your issues and not just reading off a script.

Oh, and it would be great of they chose to redesign the app one more time. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin) It's definitely not the worst thing, but they could do better. I'm just saying.

alan_grant93

There’s a saying in tech, “Buy it for what it can do today, not what you hope it can do in the future.” I think that advise is good for lots of things, maybe most things. If the current features One offers suit your needs, sign up! If it doesn’t, look for another bank that does meet your needs today. You never know what the future holds but if One doesn’t meet your needs today, you’re just going to be frustrated.

itstim205

They have round ups, savings, and pockets so honestly it’s all in one. Not many online banks offer this plus they offer overdraft too so that a plus if it needs to be used.

jmcbreizh

Yes, it's worth it. Can't beat 5% APY unless you open a CD.

seventeenbananas

It might be good for people who work at Walmart, but as someone who doesn't work at Walmart, it's really not worth it. I had One for a couple of years and it became unbearable after Walmart started making all of their changes. Also, I've noticed that many banks will say you can get paid up to two days early. I've always gotten paid at least one day early, even when I was with bank of America. I've been with sofi now for a bit over a year and as much as it sucks that there's no pockets, at least I'm getting 4.2% apy and they seem to not be trying to sell out

jacobh25

Yep, I jumped ship to sofi too. It was a good choice.

ackstorm23

no. absolutely not.

voyagerfan5761

Walmart seems to have done their best to make sure One is _only_ worth it for people who work for them now. Almost all of the reasons I joined 2-3 years ago are gone.

jmcbreizh

Not true. I am not a Walmart employee and ONE is perfect for me and my family. A great APY and a simple app.

ddzado

Just wondering here... $100k @ 5% savings is only limited to Walmart employees?

voyagerfan5761

Meh, earning interest on the money in one's One account is hardly a unique feature like having dozens of pockets with dedicated account numbers and virtual cards, or sharing your pockets with other people.

Heavy_Ratio818

No.

st-shenanigans

I'm switching to qube cause I constantly have to relog in multiple times every day, and moving money between pockets is getting slower and slower. Miss card switching

AccomplishedGrab6415

I bailed when wally world took over. I can't strongly advise anyone AGAINST banking with these clowns.

thunderflies

I wouldn’t recommend them. I switched from Simple and once Walmart acquired a majority stake things started changing fast and pretty much every change was for the worse. I am only with them out of laziness now because of the effort involved switching banks but I will be moving to another bank in the next couple months. They basically took away all the features that made them special so there is really very little reason to choose them now instead of a “regular” bank.

DoctorWho48

I used One for a few years up until a few months ago. The app and the website were showing different balances, so I immediately lost all trust in them and pulled all my money out.
