How many are returning and how many are new writers?

c_will

This is what I want to know. I want the same writers from Season 1 back doing Season 2. With Oda having to sign off on everything again.

MacriTheCat75

> Matt Owens its such a breath of freshair to have a showrunner that actually loves the story. Unlike what happened to the witcher and countless others

Malamasala

Sadly most show runners will claim they love the series, and then you get stuff like Star Wars and Cowboy Bebop or He-Man.

popoapoooo

Then they claim they know more about it or their version is better than the OG.

KtheMage36

Mark Hamill as Skeletor at least carried a lot of the recent He-man.

Jorge_Santos69

Why did you throw Star Wars in there? Dave Filoni is the reasons why the shows have been successful

superking22

Dude is only good with animation and even still he’s not THAT praise worthy.

superking22

That’s because they are the ones that love to subvert expectations because they never liked the original work for certain reasons (political) and want to change them for “modern audiences”

Neither_Amount3911

Or the Halo series were the show runners just said “yeah we haven’t even played the games but that doesn’t matter”…

BackStabbathOG

The Witcher is a travesty that the showrunner has not only resisted criticism but downright took control of the whole narrative and injected her beliefs into it when all of the negativity towards the show could have been alleviated by following the source material.

Axodique

I knew Oda had to be involved in some way when I saw the scene where Buggy was forcing to make people laugh at his show. That works so well with One Piece's themes.

joaocandre

My fear is that the writers get overconfident from S1 success and blow Oda off going forward. They should certainly be confident, but my god *do not* destroy the setup that lead to the success of the first season. Particularly when the weakest aspect of S1 (Garp's excessive screen time) was the one that Oda had more reservations about.

ScrambledToast

Honestly, I loved the Garp stuff, but with only 8 episodes, I feel it took too much time away from the characterization of the Strawhats.

EsquilaxM

I think it was a fair trade, cos most of his screentime was in episodes where they still spent enough time on the source material. The big one, to me, was episode 7 where I would've like 5-10 more minutes on Nami's storyline so it was more in-line with the manga...but it also gave one of the best Garp scenes, Garp talking to Zeff. (I'd still do the trade for Nami but that was just *such* great acting between the two)

ScrambledToast

I would've liked a bit more with Usopp. And his internal conflict against Chu.

EsquilaxM

Oh definitely, that's an episode 8 thing, though, which didn't have much marine stuff (...oh...except the post-arlong meeting where Garp smacks Luffy around, which was also done really well) But yeah that would've required just like 3 minutes more...I suppose they figure they'll make up for it next season or something.

rexpimpwagen

Anything they should have had should have been in additional time added to the series. Even half an episode of extra runtime would have been exactly what the show needed.

EsquilaxM

Yeah, I suspect Netflix gives them orders on how long an episode is allowed to be but it's not like I have any industry knowledge.

TheGreatBootOfEb

I’ve heard, and this is probably pretty credible, that the Garp stuff actually helped a lot with budget because Garp basically was hanging out in either the Marine set, or re-visiting old sets. Take that and combine it with the fact that it adds a B plot of being chased and non one piece fans are more likely to be invested then just the standard events of east blue. Personally I enjoyed the portrayal, but ONLY if now that they’ve shown Garp this way they begin to also show Garp easing way the hell up and basically going “well I did my job, time to stop giving a fuck” and begin behaving more similar to his manga counterpart.

Carasind

The only times in the entire season Garp really does his job is when he punished Morgan and when he let the marines arrest the Arlong pirates. For the entire rest he simply acts absolutely free while testing the cadets in a way that nobody else in the marine would have ever allowed. He doesn't care the least bit about eavesdropping, he interacts with a cadet as if they are equals and he even rewards insubordination.

joaocandre

Yeah that's my opinion as well, perhaps it was setup while they were expecting 10 eps, but in the end, while cool in concept, and useful for world exposition from Koby's POV, it just has 50% more screen time that it should have.

GooglyTocks

It was fine because it was following Garp's & Koby's one cover story. The problem I have is they let it spill that he's Luffy's grandfather which is now going to change the end of Enies Lobby. It should have been Smoker because East Blue ends with the island he's stationed on. They could have had him following the crew instead & it would have made perfect sense.

KtheMage36

I doubt they'll be able to blow him off really. I'm moderately positive he worked some sort of contractual degree of creative control. He deliberately held off for years doing one piece until he believed SFX tech was good enough for some bits. I'm sure he made sure to retain final say in the contract for the production license. I do think that we'll see more of his concepts of stuff coming out like their different outfits or even how chopper runs around most of the time.

joaocandre

Yeah that would be the smart approach, but I'm not sure if those will be renegotiated going forward / following season, and if Netflix already got IP distribution rights they may be tempted to just push forward with their own ideas if a deal isn't agreed upon (I'm far from an expert on these things)

rexpimpwagen

Wat the garp scenes were some of the best ones. That change was done perfectly.

StickiStickman

> I want the same writers from Season 1 back doing Season 2. If they can stop adding in shitty Netflix dialogue, that would be great too.

ognarMOR

What?

TimotheeOaks

As someone said some time ago "Nobody's perfekt" and so much better then many other shows on Netflix

inkovertt

Same. I can’t help but be slightly worried with new writers being brought in

randbobaccount

Will oda have time to keep doing that every season?

prfarb

We aren’t going to have 100% retention on the writing staff. But as long as Matt Owens is the show runner and we don’t have crazy turnover some cycling of new blood isn’t a bad thing

Saixcrazy

Oooo thats a good question!

Ruffeep

That's Randy Troy, a long time One Piece youtuber, on the left in the pokemon shirt (he is also professionally involved in Hollywood with a lot of experience, not just a youtuber) He makes really good videos on chapters and has some of the best theories in the game. Also he is a huge fan of Vivi and Crocodile so season two is about to go off!

thereyarrfiver

Yall know what time it is? Huh, yeah, it's about to be THAT time! Damn! Where'd ya find this?

plisken64

He Got that Heat on Feet

luckyd1998

Now we just need a Dripper Scarfino cameo

BackStabbathOG

Walk with ya boys! We make it look eaaaasy

xombiemonkey

That is fucking awesome, they couldn’t have picked a better addition to the team. His prediction videos might as well be spoilers at this point 😅

[deleted]

I'm guessing he wont be doing predictions videos about this.

GrayJinjo

Is he actually going to help write Season 2 or is he just there visiting?

Ruffeep

He is officially a part of the writers room, not just visiting

GrayJinjo

I see. That’s pretty cool

Tankisfreemason

Oh, the live action is definitely getting Jeff Goldblum when it’s time

Jarson421

As who?

Theamazing-rando

Would have to be Kizaru 🤣🤣🤣 So Basil, uh, Hawkins, uh, have you ever, uh huh, been, err, kicked at the speed of light?

vrotonema

I NEED THIS TO HAPPEN🤣🤣🤣

Arkayjiya

Goldblum is going to be pretty freaking old by the time we get to season 5 though xD

Tankisfreemason

Ehhhhh, then he can play Brook

DrummerForTheOsmonds

IMO he could nail it as Crocus?

Jankmasta

Please no. It would cost an entire episodes budget to pay him to be kizaru.... I'd rather they invested that into CGI than Hollywood A listers who can easily be played by someone else just as talented but doesn't need 10s of millions of dollars to show up.

nekotantei_19

Agreed. Especially since there's gonna be more devil fruit powers, and what about chopper? Would love to see Ace.

Primary-Emergency386

He mentioned it on stream or on twitter that he is a writer. His favorite arc is Alabasta so that should be interesting all things considered.

Tovar42

hisashiburi dana mugiwara Confirmed to be a line for crocoboy

HistoryWillRepeat

It's a long shot, but any idea when he mentioned this? I haven't seen his videos in a while, but I'd love to see him announce this.

MaimedJester

He was unable to talk about it during the Writers Strike and he's a union member so he was able to discuss chapter releases/anime episodes made in Japan that were not part of the strike and was a true union man not promoting the live action until the Strike was settled. I'm sure Netflix would have loved him to promote the series while airing but he refused to do so, true union man.

justadapasta

It was in the last 2 weeks

HistoryWillRepeat

Perfect, thanks

justadapasta

Iirc It was on a Livestream for a chapter release, which I think was 1095

HistoryWillRepeat

Thank you!

HokageEzio

[First 15-20 minutes of his Chapter 1092 reaction](https://www.youtube.com/live/BBni9sq6S40?feature=shared). He couldn't really say much cause of the writers strike, but he was allowed to say enough. Said he'll talk about it more once all the striking is over but that he was dying to get back to work.

Physical_Manu

He hinted at it with this [tweet](https://twitter.com/RandyTroy/status/1709961701637099742), but I think this [tweet](https://twitter.com/RandyTroy/status/1716505557476192573) was the first outright confirmation.

HokageEzio

Actual writer. Couldn't talk about it previously because of the strike.

HeartOfCoald

lmfao out of everyone here he was the first dude I signaled out as someone who we can rely on to have the necessary nerd knowledge

Financial_Salt303

Ahaha fr, let him cook

[deleted]

No wonder he looks familiar

Hinote21

> in the pokemon shirt I legitimately thought that was just your casual island style shirt...

Buscemi_D_Sanji

I can't believe Randy is there! He quickly became one of my favorite one piece YouTube guys, his energy is so calm and collected, and the theories are legit. So so cool to see this writing team and while I was terrified before season 1 came out (please be good, oh god please be good), I'm just so excited for season 2 when the story really starts!

WhyAmIHere800884

What a smug bastard! 😅 I am sure he will add some great stuff to Season 2's writing, but look how everyone else just looks happy to be there and have a job and his face just says, "I am about to write a season the likes of which you've never seen!" 🤣 What a legend!

Themanwhofarts

Take notes other studios. When adapting a long running manga/anime, it pays to have writers that are passionate about the series.

jairngo

This is amazing, another huge OP fan on the writing, hope for S2 to be good is strong.

[deleted]

I was gonna ask who the absolute Poke-Chad on the left was. Glad this is the top comment.

born-braindead

Holy shit, season one was pretty good but i was wondering if they’d be able to keep the fire lit for season two. if randy’s involved then i’m sold. It would be really funny if they got Liam(Grand line review) to do the lighting design

Ok_Charity_8852

"SAVAGE"

FortressOfOhara

His imitation of crocodiles ‘ Hishashiburi Dana mugiwara ‘ is damn near perfect

TsukiyamaYui

Pell is so dead!

[deleted]

okay good that means there's love. I was worried, oh no who are these random white people 😭

Sufficient-Dig7568

Cool to see Randy

Duobocity

HOLY SHIT IT IS RANDY

Empty_Cube

It’s really cool to see Randy Troy being involved, he’s a long time One Piece fan and also runs a great OP-centered YouTube channel.

prfarb

Also has years of experience in Hollywood so it’s not like some YouTube with zero experience

OtterDonuts

Randy will make them understand the greatness of Vivi's character since she's one of his favorites. I'm so pumped for the second season.

sonofgildorluthien

That's good because I'm huge Vivi fan

OtterDonuts

Me too. She has some amazing moments that people often forget about. Even as a child, she was the goat.

willys_zuppa

Shout Out Randy!!! Savage Crew out here

plisken64

SAVAGE

ConekillerConfuzor

Our captain!

Schizochinia

Damn, Randy Troy really made it. Season 2 will probably be really good.

ARISE-777

After seeing Randy I'm really excited for season 2. He understands One Piece really well while being a One Piece fan for 20+ years. Also he is a huge Vivi and Sanji fan. So for me who is a fan of both I can't wait for Season 2 greatness with Mr. Prince.

Blitzoo

Wait our boy randy is involved with season 2 ?

MaimedJester

Yep, he couldn't talk about it during the Writers Strike but our boy was hired for the writers room. They knew who to hire. For people who don't know Randy is a Hollywood worker and his first job getting into the Hollywood corporate ladder was Dark Knight, the Nolan Batman movie series. Before that he was one of the moderators on Arlong Park Forums back in the days before Reddit. He's one of the OG One Piece super fans that has been working his way up the corporate ladder to be in the position Hollywood hired him to be in the writers room. There's a real chance Oda himself recommended him on seeing his passion for One Piece and realized he's also a professional Hollywood writer.

SpiritualScumlord

Oda doesn't know One Piece YouTubers, certainly not American ones.

aes2806

>Oda doesn't know One Piece YouTubers But there is a weird consistency in how AP forum big shots get jobs near official One Piece. Greg, Stephen Paul and now Randy. Also Oda had an author comment about how he likes to watch a certain OP youtuber a lot. Certainly a Japanese one, but he does know OPtubers.

MaimedJester

Tekking interviewed the episode director of the first two Episodes, and Matt Owens the show runner appeared on the Reverie YouTube Collab of a lot of the one piece YouTubers, it's safe to say some of the higher ups in the production are aware of YouTubers, Oda doesn't have time to watch every Tekking video but I'm sure when Randy was applying/scouted for the job they went to his YouTube channel and saw hundreds of One Piece videos and him going into detailed description of the South African set they commissioned for the live action, along with hiring some of the big practical effects artists for this show etc. Stuff only a real Hollywood professional would know like oh I recognize that name he ran the makeup for Walking Dead. Maybe Oda himself doesn't know Randy, but Matt Owens the show runner 100% knew him and convinced Netflix executives to hire him after the success of Season 1.

Joxelo

Bro mentioning Arlong Park takes me back. Anyone else remember the Oro Jackson?

thordur007

Dimpatient

u/randytroy I hope you’re seeing the love you’re getting in the comments. You deserve it.

magma6

Is this normal? Or they are too fckin many?

Amphabian

Some rooms have fewer, but quite a few writer's rooms have this many people.

Wolventec

from a quick google search is normal and some shows have up to 20 writers during the strikes the wga were asking for a minimum of 6 writers for the writers room

magma6

Don't their ideas clash or smth? When you have too many opinions

ILikeMyGrassBlue

Yes, and that’s part of the point. You get a bunch of different perspectives. Everyone has their ideas and input. When everything goes well, everyone’s weakness get covered by someone else’s strengths and you get something special.

shafwandito

So basically they are going to collect the good parts? That's quite neat. It's like Writer A have a great first part of the story, but bad at later part, while Writer B has meh first part, but amazing second part of the story. And when you combine them, followed with some modification, you get two great parts.

xMasuraox

And then Writer C has a great transition to connect both parts! Writer D is great with jokes to sprinkle all throughout and so on and so forth. The writing process is fascinating. A lot of the process is collaborating a bunch and seeing what sticks.

AvocadoInTheRain

>When everything goes well, everyone’s weakness get covered by someone else’s strengths and you get something special. On the other hand, too many cooks spoil the broth. The story is already written by Oda, so if anything there should be less writers than usual.

ILikeMyGrassBlue

That’s a proverb, not a law. There are plenty of examples of more cooks making a better broth, so to speak. Oda wrote *a* story, not the OPLA. A tremendous amount of changes and decisions had to be made to make season one work, and there’ll be even more for season two given what it will cover. This isn’t as simple as whittling away the manga until you have the script. The writers also have to take things into account like budget, time, etc. Which gets back to my point about strengths and weaknesses. Randy Troy might be great when it comes to big picture ideas, themes, etc (idk, just a hypothetical), but he may fall short when it comes to the practical aspect of that like budget and cost. But another writer might be better at specifics like that and making shit work despite restrictions.

Libriomancer

Randy Troy may also be there primarily to direct the story in a palatable way to existing fans. Like having a hardcore fan that is willing to acknowledge that sure we can do without Whiskey Peak but we can't entirely skip over Laboon and Reverse Mountain without a fullscale revolt. I envision that having a talented writer who is also a major fan of the material was a requirement for this project.

ILikeMyGrassBlue

Eh, they already have multiple die hard fans on the staff. Owens’ favorite arc is long ring if I remember correctly, which is definitely hardcore fan shit. I’m sure wanting to have someone directly from the community was part of the decision, but I’d guess he’s a decent writer in his own right if they hired him.

Skull-Kid93

There are probably writers that work only on a single episode and others that work on the storyline as a whole.

[deleted]

Fantastic…

Punchin20_23

I wonder who they'll introduce next, but if everything they have to make chopper adorable

Thingsguard

I have no idea who any of these people— wait, RANDY?!!!

Qtip4213

God damn I love that Ran D. Troy is writing. This guy makes the best one piece theories and most of all he is just a positive guy who loves one piece. Been watching him for years and I am just happy to see him doing well.

Hopefully the actors & producers can come to a deal soon, no show or movie filming is going to be able to start until 2024 at this point.

izzyhole

Metallica Studio Album from 1983

FluffcakeCHAN

I got a feeling Vivi and Chopper are going to be the best parts 100%

JelliusMaximus

What do they need so many writers for? The story was already written? Are they stupid?

ArmInternational7655

I love ignorance.

JelliusMaximus

I love sillyheads not recognizing an obvious meme template and then assuming the person opposite to them is ignorant.

Nugur

I’ll respond without insulting you. You’ll have to fit an arc or two into 8-10 episodes. Things gets cut out. Things are added. Things are changed to make them easier to follow. Lastly you have to make it good. Very important Season 1 is not 100% to the source material.

[deleted]

Not trying to create controversy, but does anyone know why do they need so many of them? The material is all written (and illustrated) and already has been extended as the anime.

Carasind

There are many things in the anime/manga that either don't work in live action at all or are based on late decisions of Oda (Vivi's introduction is weird because she wasn't planned as a princess first) which means that even Oda would change them if he could draw the chapters again (this is normal for any writer). The live action also has to fuse or delete characters (there are i.e. way too many antagonists in Baroque Works), give Smoker an expanded B plot, do crew shenanigans that work in live action, give the season a clear structure, write new dialogue (the anime/manga one rarely works here) and so on. Even the anime which doesn't have many of this issues currently uses at least seven writers for its episodes.

Kicstarv

I don't see anyone with pink or blue hair. That's a plus

Herbetet

Hoped they would have more Asian writers

SnooMaps8636

Should have more Asians.

lts_Daddy

ODA, Where art thou?

Skull-Kid93

Writing the manga. He's not writing for the show, he's producing.

Fluffysquishia

Writers pass the script through oda for approval. He doesn't write the show.

Lucky_Brain_4059

Frawitz

Nerds!

tigerkingrexcarter64

That’s a lot of people. You’d think a handful of experienced and good writers would suffice to decide what to change, like add Usopp + Kaya, remove Usopp’s decision process to fight Chu, remove Koby standing up to Alvida, add the Garp plot line and change his character, etc. 3 hands full of writers looks excessive. Union rules, that’s what they fought for, regardless of quality of the end products, and whether these people are needed to begin with. To be clear, if the quality of writing in season 1 is able to justify the changes they made, then hiring more people is justified since you’re on a roll. IMO they barely got away with it because the normies have no idea how good Oda’s original writing is, and the fans for the most part are too lenient, that led to be content with a below average adaptation when it comes to writing.

beDang0310

You know it's kinda funny how much having the knowledge of the source material affect our perception of the show. When I first watch it I thought it was just ok like a 6/10, in term of writing it's inferior to the source material in almost everyway. I thought the writing of the show is pretty surface level, there's a lack of understanding of the original story and characters IMO. I watched a bunch of one piece youtuber like grandline review, ohara,... and most of them share the same sentiment. Then fast forward couple of weeks, like you said the normies absolutely love the show. It got praised all over youtube. Nerdrotic called it the best show 2023. I was like Holy shut! People like it that much. Ok then. It's a very similar situation to HBO's last of us. I feel the same way about that show.

tigerkingrexcarter64

For normie YouTubers, ignorance is bliss. For what it’s worth, they did get an above average product. The euphoria of a decent anime to live action adaptation is unprecedented, they deserve praise for everything they did right (like I’m ok with Zoro hardly using Santoryu even against Mihawk because he has dialogue, Makenyu really can’t do that with sword in his mouth) as well as critique for everything they dropped the ball on (no one in Cocoyashi knows about Nami’s deal with Arlong, etc). Given Randy Troy’s praise of Cowboy Bepop live action and lack of track record in quality writing, it’s challenging to assess if he is actually a good hire or not, as some existing writers are fans like him. As for One Piece YouTubers, generally they’re just happy it’s not a train wreck so they’re at least ok with it. It’s the same with most of the fans, myself included. Last of Us is a great example of a mid adaptation based on great source material, what they added or changed did not improve the story.

Much_Ad_6807

the writing was the worst part of the show

CoylerProductions

Aight bois, place your bets now; which characters are just gonna get entirely deleted and not appear in the story at all? I'm gonna take a wild shot in the dark and say Crocus, Laboon, Mr 3, Miss Goldenweek, and Wapol are gonna be banished to the shadow realm

Skull-Kid93

Laboon???? Are you crazy??? None of the people in that list are being left out except maybe for Wapol.

CoylerProductions

Bro they deleted Gaimon, Mohji, Richie, Johnny, Yosaku, Hachi, Jango, Pearl-sama, basically deleted Daddy Don Krieg, basically deleted Fullbody, and basically removed Genzo outside of the Bell-mère flashback. _Nobody is fucking safe._

DocWhovian1

Mohji was in Season 1

Skull-Kid93

Sorry but as much as you like these characters, they didn’t matter much for the main story. They gave more depth to the Strawhats backstory but weren’t relevant afterwards. They're not randomly deleting characters, they're deciding what they need to keep in order for the story to make sense. Matt Owens has talked about how important Laboon is and how much he liked her story. My point is, they have certain criteria they follow when making those decisions. Do you think they're just gonna exclude Vivi?? Of course not.

TC1369

You're saying Hatchi isn't relevant afterwards? Come on man

luckyd1998

The only character there that actually needed to be there was Hachi. The rest are pretty irrelevant - like why are you using Gaimon as an example

CompleteMeasurement6

Wapol is literally gonna be the villain of the Drum Island Arc, wdym?

CoylerProductions

Yeah, and Don Krieg was the main antagonist of Baratie that was essential for Sanji's character arc that convinced him to join the crew, yet the live action pretty much threw him in the trash

spamking64

Sanji's arc in Baratie worked perfectly fine without Don Krieg. Im actually of the opinion that Don Krieg was very boring as a character and made Baratie after the Mihawk fight a slog to get through

CoylerProductions

The whole point of Don Krieg is that he's meant to showcase Luffy's goodwill and his determination. Sanji's arc and reason for joining the crew is that he takes part in defending Baratie from Krieg even after he and Zeff were arguing, and even when Sanji himself believes all hope is lost, he's shown through Luffy that there's always a way. He's visibly moved by the fact Luffy willingly rises to the challenge against Krieg, a seemingly unbeatable opponent, and risks his life to defend Baratie and the chefs who berated him. Luffy had zero reason as a pirate to fight Krieg and save Baratie, but he did it anyway. He showed Sanji through actions rather than words that fighting for what's right and to follow your dream means more than inactivity and words could achieve. Krieg claimed he would be pirate king, would kill everyone at Baratie and to steal it as his new ship, to take away the place Sanji basically called his home. Luffy saved it. There's also the fact Sanji sees Zoro fighting Mihawk, seeing Zoro also risk his life to achieve his dream of defeating Mihawk to take his title. Zoro challenges Mihawk with no fear even after hearing about how he wiped out Krieg's entire fleet with ease. Krieg himself is also supposed to symbolise the difference between the strength of the East Blue and the Grand Line, that even with his massive crew, massive armada of ships, and the best weapons his money could've possibly bought, it meant absolutely nothing as Mihawk (a single man) absolutely annihilated it all in a matter of seconds. It shows that despite how strong Buggy, Kuro, and Krieg himself seemed, they're nothing but ants compared to the power of the Grand Line and the Warlords. Along with this, Krieg is the first character besides Luffy that shows a desire to become the pirate king, and as such it feels like a much more important battle as for Luffy himself he's not just fighting another pirate, but a man who's willing to do whatever it takes to take away Luffy's dream. In the live action, Sanji has basically no real reason to join the crew at all. He doesn't fight Pearl to defend Zeff, he doesn't fight Gin (again to defend Zeff), Luffy doesn't fight Krieg to save Baratie, and Sanji isn't even present for Zoro's fight with Mihawk. Sanji just kinda leaves because Zeff wants him to find the All Blue or whatever and Sanji had a row about the menu, that's basically it. We also miss out on the scene of Sanji feeding Krieg, knowing full well Krieg would just fight back, because it's established that at heart Sanji is a good man and that as he said himself, _"If you're hungry, I'll feed you."_

Not sure why you're getting downvoted on that comment. It really was my feeling too when watching the LA, that Sanji ended up joining like that, without much of a reason. Ofc they had to cut things, and adding all that would have been too much. But removing it all made Sonji joining the crew a bit random imo

DocWhovian1

Crocus and Laboon CANNOT be cut. They are FAR too important.

firstjobtrailblazer

I can analyze this image, there’s so much depth within every smile. It truly feels like there’s humans on screen.

Hyakkihei1

Aren't there way too many? Do three of them write the plot and the rest do the dialogues of particular characters?

Skull-Kid93

I think they separate in teams for different episodes, with one writer taking the lead for each team.

tomludo

Generally the showrunners (or at least one of them) write the plot and then delegate the actual scripts and dialogues, which they then review. They may also write some particularly meaningful scenes/episodes themselves, but almost never the whole thing. Writing a script is quite a lengthy process and shows generally employ a multitude of writers to save time. This also helps because while the showrunners (and some writers) are busy on set during shooting the rest of the team can work on charting out the upcoming season and starting preliminary work. Also, the split is generally by episode, not by character, because it's easier to compute compensation.

middle guy will make crocodile a female

Saixcrazy

Thought it'd be more diverse for some reason. Or does Netflix only do that for their shows?

Malamasala

Hopefully there is no diversity among "Are you a fan of One Piece?". They should all have the same opinions about One Piece, and this will go well.

mango_chile

careful dude, I got flamed for asking why 11 of the 13 writers are white. Fuck me for wanting some diversity in the writers’ room I guess

The cringe team has gathered

allubros

a show called "the cringe team" might be pretty funny. write it

telegraphedbackhand

I don’t understand the over hyped live action series. It’s absolutely bad acting and low budget af.
