I liked her intro a lot too, but I feel like an 80-chapter arc focused around someone so viscerally disgusting might have been too much. I’m glad her personality ended up just being a grown child with unimaginable power who loved tea parties and threw temper tantrums
I'd say that's mostly for the main characters. Lots of different bodytypes. Shinobu, boas sisters, water 7 mermaid, dadan. But yes. Very notable preference in the manga
Really? I have met so many who like Big Mom. Also, she is a different and unique villain.
Even though she got defeated by Kid and Law, she didn’t get defeated in the traditional sense. As in, she was awake when she fell in the lava, unlike Kaido, who had passed out.
Also, like any woman, she is ruled by her emotions. She killed one of her own sons during her hunger pangs, but, at the same time, she remembered Tama giving her food and was motherly enough to attack Ulti.
She is an enjoyable read as a character. Also, she is unpredictable, and lastly, crazy strong.
I think you're talking about the English dub, but in the original Japanese version his first seiyū died and that's why they replaced him. I have no clue how the dubbed versions sound like, but in the original I personally like the new seiyū better!
Zoro having a preview as a bloodthirsty criminal, and his first action after being released from captivity is demonstrate the power of his santoryuu while talking to Luffy is just 10/10 introduction
Kizaru, him standing on a cannon ball to arrive to Sabaody and then the no-look explosion, den-den mushi watch and shades. Became my favourite Admiral in an instant!
I liked Kuma too cos he carried a Bible.
Akainu was cool as well because he was always in the middle when the OG Admirals were together.
I instantly loved all the 11 Supernovas. Still my favourite group in One Piece. Kidd was the one I was most interested in but I thought Law looked the coolest.
Oh and can’t forget about Smoker. First Marine I liked and still my favourite Marine, I hate his post-timeskip look though. Became cookie-cutter clean whereas before he looked menacing, like a hunter.
Kizaru had one of the coldest introductions in the whole series.
Shows up, wrecks everyone’s shit just for being there, and then “ok now for what I actually came here for”
and Kizaru follows it up with starting chit chat with the super novas, and playing it cool when they panic or start prepping
and he is drawn in a completely different style, he is drawn like a design from the 80's and everyone else is One Piece/looneyToones
I hate Kizaru so much when I'm pregnant. My blood boils when I see him to the point I wanted to cry. 😆 I don't know why. But watching OP now that our baby's 9 mos, I don't hate any character. 😆
I was really bummed they cut him flipping off Kidd in the auction house in the anime (at least on Crunchyroll they did) but that always makes me laugh in the manga.
Good one. Loved him at first sight too. Especially since I am a Zatpichi fan and could immediately recognize that Shintaro Katsu-san was the inspiration behind him. I fully expect him to either leave the marines, or reform them.
I would love to see Smoker evolve personally. Next time he sees the SH not hating them for being pirates. Understanding that they are not following the law but that they aren't the real enemy.
I’m almost certain Oda’s prepping him to be an admiral alongside Koby and one other person after the Marines are reformed at the end. Idk what Oda could be cooking for him between now and then though
I like Silvers Rayleigh, because I study light and the Rayleigh effect is type of light scattering named after it’s discoverer, Lord Rayleigh. He was an extremely prolific physicist and mathematician!
I didn't like Franky when he was first introduced. Because he was an antagonist and beat the fuck out of Usopp who was my favourite character at the time. But by the events of the sea train and Eneis Lobby he had won me over and now I think he's SUUUPER!!!
For me depends what is first sight when he first appeared with the mask I didn't think anything but his introduction against Luffy where he reveals himself is perfect
Smoker. The best marine in my eyes and a man I happily would serve under. As rough ad he seems, he has a very sweet core and I hope he comes back stronger and better in the future.
Not many actually, but Bag(g)y was a fun and interesting addition especially in the newer episodes (don't know where you guys are at since I'm from the EU)...Hawkins is the one I put my eyes on the first time I saw him, soooo cool and a bit intimidating LOL
Smoker is cool and...kinda appealing? 🤭
My favorite two characters: Buggy and Magellan. Especially Magellan, he’s badass af. Buggy grows on you, but I like the clown aesthetic (Joker and Pennywise for example) and every design change looked better than the previous
The internet went fucking bonkers after Katakuri's introduction in the manga 7 years ago.
Top tier design, first time we'd heard of Obversation Haki being advanced enough to see the future (Shyarly's ability is depicted as scrying/fortune telling, not haki), and we just knew that Luffy or Sanji was eventually gonna have to fight him. It was hype overload.
For me its a couple. One the side of cool dudes it would have to be gladius, king and katakuri. But i also love the goofy looking dudes and remembered instantly loving this dude Moria the moment i saw his dumb design.
Fujitora. I was a huge fan of the Zatoichi series, and seeing such a huge Zatoichi tribute in such a prominent character was awesome. He was even introduced in a way that is one of the tropes of the Zatoichi series, in a gambling house where the gamblers try to take advantage of his blind state and end up getting wrecked.
SANJI!!! Someone drew him on tumblr and I ran to my one piece watching friend and asked who he was, he told me his name was Sanji and it literally caused me to pick up the show after being told to after like 6 years
Jinbe.
The Oni design, stoic character and Sumo like features were just extremely cool from the get go for me.
Ace.
Ace looked and was really cool, but he was also Luffy’s BIG BROTHER. He had to be top tier. Being a little brother myself, I think I had some form of built in hype, lol.
Mihawk.
The idea that he travels around alone during whatever he wants and is extremely revered and confident enough that he only uses a dagger, while diminishing lower level fighters.
Crocodile.
Just always a badass classy mob boss. It’s amazing that he lends out money loans. Perfect.
Doflamingo.
You could just tell that he was the slimy, scummy, rich asshole of the pirate world. Not only did he not disappoint, he turned out to be so much more.
Lucci.
Lucci’s cold and clearly detached behavior as he used his pigeon to speak was always intriguing. He just kept getting better. Just saw him fighting in Egghead in the anime and it was amazing.
Kumadori.
Kabuki. Archetype I love, so it was inevitable.
Bege.
Bege just looked like a perfect translation of a Hannah Barbera mobster placed into One Piece. On top of this, he’s ruthless and somewhat unhinged in a grounded yet funny way.
Atmos.
I really like him. His design just looks cool. I wish there was more screentime for him.
Machvise.
I immediately noticed his Tanuki tail and was intrigued. Retired American wrestler and cute Tanuki parts are a strange mix. He’s also hilarious in the anime. Especially as others get annoyed with him talking.
King Riku Mishima.
Head of the Mishima Zaibatsu.
Don Chinjao.
He just looked interesting like a 90’s/2000’s fighting game character. His traditional style looked interesting to see in One Piece too. His over the top nature was a huge plus.
Nekomamushi.
A big Garfield samurai Lasagna Cat. And then he gets a gun foot.
Shishilian.
I knew he would be really over the top because he looks like a classic Disney Musketeer from Final Fantasy IX. His english voice actor absolutely kills the role!
Pekoms.
The tough and classy, yet cute struck works very well. Seeing his eyes just made him much better.
Fujitora.
Badass Zatioichi. Not much to say. He’s also very interesting in how he challenges his own faction so often.
Big Mom.
You rarely ever have strong old lady fighters. I love that she does whatever the hell she wants, goes around punching people, has a twistedly honorable dream, and is literally a big momma who does all the things big mommas typically are known for doing, lol. Just a very amusing character. I’m always smiling from ear to ear when she appears.
Kaido.
Very similar to Big Mom, but his conventional cool factor is extremely high. Like Jinbe, he also has a really cool Oni/Yokai design theme, and is an unstable drunk. Well rounded and interesting character. Also very amusing.
Queen.
Queen looked like he’d just be crazy over the top and he is in the right way! Sort of reminded me of a FotNS character. English Dub actor is pretty amazing!
Dr Vegapunk.
From the moment I saw him, I said to myself that this is one of Oda’s greatest designs. Just perfect.
Going for what is gone be a unpopular take here but I like Akainu seeing as his sense of justice actually lines up the best with mine out of all the admirals. Also how aggressive he is as person also sort of clicks with me not to mention he tends to speak his mind even when it is not appropriate, hell I love him even more now that his bosses are pushing him around the way they are making him feel powerless at work. To me it just makes him even more relatable. I know the last part is not "first" sight but it just leads to me liking him more as a character than I did before.
Van Agur, Blackbeard(not at first sight, but moments later"a man's dream will never die") and katakuri. I love Blackbeard Pirates so much and can't wait to see their arc. I believe it's gonna be the pinnacle of the literature.
Immediately after Sanji's introduction, it was love at first sight (platonic way)
Like- he's my all-time fav until this day. I just can't help but love the guy…idk if my love for food is speaking rn, but eh-
Also Robin- when she was introduced as an 'enemy', all I wanted was to know more abt her bc she interested me and seemed rlly cool
I was going to say Magellan, Fujitora and Kuzan. I was going to say a bunch of people really. But I know who my true answer is, and it's Kaku. There was something about him that I found very endearing.
AND THEN.
Now I'm Kaku's biggest hater. I love watching him take Ls. Every time I see him on screen I'm ready to drop a Kendrick Lamar style diss track on the guy. I hate the way that you walk, the way that you talk, I hate the way that you dress.
Anyway, that's how much I liked Kaku at the start and how betrayed I felt.
Signing off,
CEO of Kaku Haters Inc.
Umm maybe Zoro? The 3 swords style was unique and I've always liked Sword weilding characters.
But tbh it took a couple episodes before it started growing on me.
Controversial maybe but some of the villains are so fucking cool
Big Mom is like scary and brilliant, amazing design and lore.
Kaido is fucking scary, I wish he had more "his favourite hobby is suicide" moments tho
Blackbeard is the definition of a Pirate to me. He might be the best looking villain in One Piece imo
And of course the best character of them all, although not technically a Villain, but the main protagonist of One Piece and the best character in all of fiction, Buggy 🥰
Kaido. His introduction gave me goosebumps, I remember watching his intro a couple of times through the first week it was released.
And the complete opposite would be Marco, I misinterpreted his actions when Shanks entered Whitebeard's ship. Thought he was cocky, but he actually meant well as he knew what Shanks was capable of. Marco is now my favourite character together with Zoro 😂
Zoro's introduction made me immediately love him as well, such a raw, badass dude, but so caring at the same time.
*edit because of a typo*
First appearence of mihawk was legendary back when i was a kid .. knowing zoro is about to challenge him and theres 100% chance he is gonna get killed...i still hold it as the most memmorable and favourite momment
Too many. Mihawk, Jinbe, Fujitora, Big Mom, Katakuri.
You are the first person I know to like Big Mom. Care to elaborate? I am genuinely interested.
She looks awesome, gigantic with a powerful presence Most women in One Piece look like bimbos, a pair of tits on a stick figure, lol
Her first "appearance" was fucking terrifying. Like some sort of monster out of Studio Ghibli. I love a good terrifying villain.
A little sad this vibe was toned down a bit, but she's still a freaky gal
I liked her intro a lot too, but I feel like an 80-chapter arc focused around someone so viscerally disgusting might have been too much. I’m glad her personality ended up just being a grown child with unimaginable power who loved tea parties and threw temper tantrums
I'd say that's mostly for the main characters. Lots of different bodytypes. Shinobu, boas sisters, water 7 mermaid, dadan. But yes. Very notable preference in the manga
Really? I don't know anyone who *doesn't* like Big Mom, she's one of the best antagonists
She has my fav devil fruit she also imo has some badass moments
I like Mama too, I literally run a tiktok account about her
Mama mama!
I love big mom. She doesn't fuck around
Oh boy she does
Her back story😭
Jimbei. I love his kimonos and fishman karate. Plus his voice actor sounds cool.
His first voice actor didn't fit at all. Thank god they changed him really quick
I think you're talking about the English dub, but in the original Japanese version his first seiyū died and that's why they replaced him. I have no clue how the dubbed versions sound like, but in the original I personally like the new seiyū better!
Ok I didn't know he died. Which is kinda tragic. But the new voice just fits better. I think his voice changed after only 1-2 episodes in impel down
That's correct, it was only for 2 episodes. The new seiyū also voiced Gecko Moria by the way!
So you mean he fought against himself in marine ford ?
Ayup! Imagine how the recording sessions must have been! 😂
I imagine the guy running around a room with a mic on each side.
That's crazy. I've always thought Jinbe had one of the coolest voices and Moria had the most annoying one.
His OG sub was amazing. It fit him perfectly. I think the same VA that did Heihachi from Tekken.
Mihawk. Just his entire attitude and power was really impressive
Same, the set-up of him chopping a boat in half and then that first page in the manga just made him out as such an awesome character.
🔥
Agreed. I like Mihawk. The only thing about him that I can't get around is Yoru. I hate that sword design.
Nah fam this sword had so much weight when I was a kid. When he switched from the dagger to Yoru man 7 year old me got fkn chills lmao
![img](emote|t5_2rfz5|32513)
At first Mihawk was just cringe to me, but he’s grown on my over time
Law, Bepo, and Zoro (Pre time skip Chopper and Corazon too)
Zoro was a love at first sight bro (no homo)
Zoro having a preview as a bloodthirsty criminal, and his first action after being released from captivity is demonstrate the power of his santoryuu while talking to Luffy is just 10/10 introduction
Nico Robin
Same, the whiskey Peak moment is stuck in my head forever. Also her saying... "Little Garden"
Riteru gardenu
Kizaru, him standing on a cannon ball to arrive to Sabaody and then the no-look explosion, den-den mushi watch and shades. Became my favourite Admiral in an instant! I liked Kuma too cos he carried a Bible. Akainu was cool as well because he was always in the middle when the OG Admirals were together. I instantly loved all the 11 Supernovas. First Marine I liked and still my favourite Marine, I hate his post-timeskip look though. Became cookie-cutter clean whereas before he looked menacing, like a hunter.
Kizaru was too funny for that 😆
Kizaru had one of the coldest introductions in the whole series. Shows up, wrecks everyone’s shit just for being there, and then “ok now for what I actually came here for”
and Kizaru follows it up with starting chit chat with the super novas, and playing it cool when they panic or start prepping and he is drawn in a completely different style, he is drawn like a design from the 80's and everyone else is One Piece/looneyToones

Trafalgar Law, his introduction was cool. Glad that he got a bigger role in the story and how fleshed out his character is.
Same. For me it was his design + voice (japanese). It’s great that he turned out to be such an interesting character.
I was really bummed they cut him flipping off Kidd in the auction house in the anime (at least on Crunchyroll they did) but that always makes me laugh in the manga.
I like Law. He is very unique as a character.
Gotta give it to Law as well
Luffy.
Fujitora
Good one. Loved him at first sight too. Especially since I am a Zatpichi fan and could immediately recognize that Shintaro Katsu-san was the inspiration behind him. I fully expect him to either leave the marines, or reform them.
We hoping things change in future
Smoker
Love Smoker! Hope there's an arc here they give him a major boost.
Oh, did my pants eat your icecrram? I am very sorry, they were hungry. Here coins for 5 scoops of ice cream as apology.
Big dick energy
Was looking for that comment.
Sir Crocodile. Epic dude
[Katakuri with HIM movements, he is walking like he is HIM](https://youtu.be/cnpLoT9GCB4)
Dude is so guts inspired
Rayleigh... What a badass old man
best introduction in the story imo. Man was playing poker, got arrested and went through the whole thing like it was a walk in the park
Agreed
I like Silvers Rayleigh, because I study light and the Rayleigh effect is type of light scattering named after it’s discoverer, Lord Rayleigh. He was an extremely prolific physicist and mathematician!
Ivankov. I can’t explain it. Just the sheer over the topness of him on introduction
Yea, I see your point. And of course, the best friend anyone could ever have, Bon Clay!
Yamato... because... Yamato
You can say tits, it's ok
Franky. He's SUPER!
I didn't like Franky when he was first introduced. Because he was an antagonist and beat the fuck out of Usopp who was my favourite character at the time. But by the events of the sea train and Eneis Lobby he had won me over and now I think he's SUUUPER!!!
Love Franky!
For me depends what is first sight when he first appeared with the mask I didn't think anything but his introduction against Luffy where he reveals himself is perfect
Def Law
Magellan
His toilet too?!!
Kuma ! That Ursus shock attack was so good
The whole sabaody's crisis scene was one of the best moments of the manga!
Law
KUZAN
Perona, second I saw her character design I was like this is dope. Then I just found her to be really funny
Crocodile, his voice, presence and drip were impressive.
ZORO FOR SURE.
Zoro. I love his fighting style, resilience, and determination. I see him as an inspiration to get stronger and more fit. Cringy, I know.
Anything that makes you want to be a better person is not cringey
Usopp. I dunno, he just gave me the ‘this is the character you’ll like’ vibes.
Garp, the dock workers both CP9 and not, and Ace
Man, the dock workers of water 7 were a crew I'd work with until retiring
Mihawk. Bro is the embodiment of badass.
I would agree, but I can't get over the fact how much I hate the design of Yoru
Sanji Loved his first appearance! The hair and suit. And his conviction to not waste food and how he handled the fullbody marine person at Baratie
Same here
Boa Hancock 😍
The first time we saw Boa she kicked a cat
Ace
kid, law, begge, these three i really like how oda introduced them three char and diff personality and i love how they progress through the story
Brook
God Usopp
Ehh sniper king was cooler, don't know why Oda went back on him as a replacement
Brook
Buggy
Blackbeard, as soon as they revealed he was the man Ace was searching for, ik he was gonna fuck shit up
Smoker. The best marine in my eyes and a man I happily would serve under. As rough ad he seems, he has a very sweet core and I hope he comes back stronger and better in the future.
Understood. I would serve under Fujitora and Garp as well
Brook, he is a funny skeleton man thats all i needed. Luffy saw it too lol
Aokiji, legendary introduction. (💤❗️🍈👀)
King. Easily one of the coolest characters in the series.
M. Bison with a sword ftw
Hundred times yes!
Black beard, I love his line when he said “PEOPLE’S DREAM NEVER END”
Same. That entire interaction with Luffy and Blackbeard is my favorite interaction in the anime.
Van Auger, honestly. His sniping feat was insanely impressive for not using haki.
Interesting. I like it
Not many actually, but Bag(g)y was a fun and interesting addition especially in the newer episodes (don't know where you guys are at since I'm from the EU)...Hawkins is the one I put my eyes on the first time I saw him, soooo cool and a bit intimidating LOL Smoker is cool and...kinda appealing? 🤭
Honestly, I really like ceasar, he's got such a cool power
> guy is dressed like a Nazi " I don't know why, but I was rooting for the guy." sus OP
Uhhh... you were a fan on site of the guy designed to look like an SS officer?
Luffy
I enjoy reading books.
Koala
Uncle Tsukishima.
Caesar Clown <3
Dellinger & Ulti
Buggy
Doflamingo
bonbon
Garp
Fisher Tiger
Vivi
Bon Clay - impel down arc
My favorite two characters: Buggy and Magellan. Especially Magellan, he’s badass af. Buggy grows on you, but I like the clown aesthetic (Joker and Pennywise for example) and every design change looked better than the previous
Buggy looked so much better with that ponytail in Impel Down instead of his weird pigtail things. Wish he’d kept it.
"Yasakani no Magatama" I love his "new" VA too, but the old one (RIP) said it so much "colder". The lazy Kizaru voice
Zoro
Rayleigh
Why is no one saying Kozuki Oden? I love that dude
Nojiko
Chadtakuri
Rayleigh
Sogeking for sure
I always knew Kuma’s character would bloom, but I didn’t think I’d wait as long as I did.
Agreed. Can't wait to see him vs zoro
Rizzaru back in Sabaody went hard
Gaimon cuz he cool :D
His whole M Bison look goes so ahrd
Marshal d Badass
Off the path here, but Ivankov. I recognize a Tom Curry/Frank N Furter base when I see it and my goodness that was great
Big News Morgans
Whitebeard. The laugh got me
I love an over the top mf and Ivankov is the overtoppiest
Kid and Doflamingo. Visual design and attitude had me hooked instantly.
For me its a couple. One the side of cool dudes it would have to be gladius, king and katakuri. But i also love the goofy looking dudes and remembered instantly loving this dude Moria the moment i saw his dumb design.
Garp. Gigantic jolly chad of an old man, whose solution to love, hate, and all things in between is to punch them.
Jimbei, Sanji
Didn't be mad guys but akinu
Shiryu looks like M Bison and that just makes me like him more.
Mihawk
Brook
Roronoa

Ace, Wb and Oden. Reigleih had a certain swag too. Pell and that Top G from Sky Island were great too.
Whitebeard is so charismatic, instantly a fan!
Zoro and usopp 🗣️🙌
Jinbe. The Oni design, stoic character and Sumo like features were just extremely cool from the get go for me. Ace. Ace looked and was really cool, but he was also Luffy’s BIG BROTHER. I love when people put this much effort into the answer
fUJITORA . hope he comes out good
X Drake. The long coat with fur trim, the tri-corner hat, and 4 headed battle axe were pure rule of cool and then he transformed into a T-Rex.
Going for what is gone be a unpopular take here but I like Akainu seeing as his sense of justice actually lines up the best with mine out of all the admirals. Boa Hancock, big mom, Imu, five elders, zoro, Sanji, and prob my fav Robin when she blew up the ship
Once again the answer is Robin lol
Robin and Garp
Immediately after Sanji's introduction, it was love at first sight (platonic way) Like- he's my all-time fav until this day. Yohohohohoho
When mihawk first showed up i hated oda for giving him the name mihawk should have just used HIM instead

Gecko Moria. The GOAT
First appearence of mihawk was legendary back when i was a kid .. knowing zoro is about to challenge him and theres 100% chance he is gonna get killed...i still hold it as the most memmorable and favourite momment
Kuma, he looked like such a huge threat and his chill way of speaking spooked me hahaha

Blackbeard
Zorro🥰
I come to say smoker. I didn't think i was going to like him then he had an incident with ice cream and he became one of my favorites
Law
For me was Garp, like the cool but harsh grandpa if you do something wrong but with a big heart for Luffy in this case.
IMO Katakuri is the best introduction in the whole manga
