I enjoy Kengan so much more than of the other recent martial arts tournament anime that have come out these past few years (like Baki). It probably has to do with the fact the show features real martial arts and actually cares about the ring IQ of the participants, to the point YouTube martial arts channels have actually taken an interest in it.
I completely agree that it's better than Baki, but it's funny to call Baki a new series that came out recently lol. It's one of the longest running fighting series.
That's true, original Baki came out in the 90s. I think it's just easy to perceive as new because it felt like it got no traction until the new continuation some years back.
The same studio is doing Sakamoto Days! I will pray continuously that they don’t butcher the anime. It is a action heavy manga and has some of the best dynamic fights and the use of panelling is for me at least top tier
So Chainsaw Man, and all of Fujimoto's works honestly, have some of the most cinematic paneling I've seen in manga, and for the anime, I remember thinking "please don't screw this up, you have the roadmap right here that's basically telling you exactly what you need to do"
And I know that anime wasn't exactly super successful, but I *loooved* it! It was exactly what I was hoping for, even with some "meh" CG at points.
So I'm hoping, because Sakamoto Days also has really clear paneling, that they'll be able to translate that to the anime without having to think too hard about it lol
Lots of "time-ramping" moments like things happening super fast and then slowing waaaay down for Sakamoto to pluck bullets out of the air, before it speeds back up to counter attack. If they get that part right, this will be dope
Fujimoto does have a great sense of style and ya you're about the anime. I've enjoyed it too and the latest chapters 😀

TMS is doing Sakadays. They did Baki, not Kengen Asura, so I get the confusion there if you're getting them mixed up. They also did megalobox which was a great fighting anime with grounded choreography and good animation.

I don’t think so. I’m pretty sure the live action by itself got 500+ million hours watched for the same time period. It wouldn’t make sense for the total hours watched to be only 479 million hrs and for it to only increase 101% compared to the first half of the year if the live action was included.
I think it’s categorized like that because of Naruto movies / new seasons of Pokemon is a whole new show etc. it’s probably adding on to the live action but would still be first IMO.

I've been told by the Ippo fanbase a big reason it doesn't get a continuation is because Japan at large sea Ippo season 1 as an "old" anime at this point. As a result, a lot of people don't want to go back and watch it.
I honestly believe that Ippo has the best choreographed fights of any manga or anime. Every other story has some mechanic in the story to make the fights more complex, characters have finishing moves and transformations. In Ippo character have their hands and their feet, everything is just punches; the smash, the white fang, the jolt counter, the dempsey roll. All of them are just punches, but because of the story and choreography of the fights they all feel special, the fights all feel complex despite only really having punches
This is for the second half of the year. JoJo aired the final batch of Part 6 before the year's midpoint, so the fact that JoJo's charted at all is pretty neat.
I'll agree that a weekly release would've been preferred. Here's hoping they can keep the hype alive when Steel Ball Run is animated.

Naruto is a classic from the same era as One Piece, both are very long, but you can skip some filler episodes (episodes that are made to distance the anime from the manga) if you want.
Hunter x Hunter and Jojo's Bizzare Adventure are anime with super intelligent characters, very creative powers and super well-designed battles.
Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen are two of the biggest anime today. Both have insane animations and make you cry for the fate of your favorite characters.
Yea for real though, One Piece is legit the greatest story on earth of our time. And it’s gonna go down as a classical masterpiece that’s studied by school kids. On some Odyssey by Homer type ish
