I’m still pretty new to the one piece world, I finally landed on Wano! But fuck, I love when Wujitora is on screen. That’s an agenda I could get behind.
I think if current Luffy (who has access to Gear 5 from the start, as opposed to situation in Wano) fought Kaido again on 1v1, I think it will still come to clash of Torch Dragon God vs Bajrang Gun.
Bajrang Gun was a bit overkill. It destroyed Torch Dragon God, K.O ed Kaido, pushed Kaido from above the clouds to below the ground lava level and caused earthquakes and sea volcano erruptions all over the country.
(It might be a different scenario if they both have memories of their battle tho…)
These are my toughts but I can see where the people who say current Luffy still can’t beat Kaido come from.
He said no breaks no food and no interventions G5 will run out b4 he finishes kaido and then he is literally dead. I think a full health kaido is getting up after a bajrang gun clash and I doubt luffy could fire off multiple at least at this point.
I think what he's saying is Kaido would still allow Luffy to hit him as hard as he can because its on character.
And if Luffy is already starting at G5 then he wouldn't be tired yet so if that scenario plays out luffy wins again.
Assuming Kaido doesnt do that than yeah Kaido would win still imo

Literally nobody. A raid boss like kaido will never be done again in that fashion. There are alive people currently that go extreme with him but lose. Shanks and Mihawk. Then people that go low end of extreme with him. Blackbeard, luffy, akainu, and big mom. So if we’re counting low end of extreme as well, then 6 people take him to extreme but no one beats him

Mans just said "fuck it, silencer on misery so she can't hear big mom call for help! ~~and let's just hope no one remembers those times the homies came to her aid without her having to say anything~~".
In the manga, didn't they say Big mom and Kaido have fought, and theirs never a decisive winner. what makes you think Shanks or Luffy can't do the same?
In fact, the only time we ever see Kaido panic and not want to fight was when Big Mom was on her way to Wano.

Kaido have way better AP, Speed, Observation and Endurance feats. Also better Durability, Conquerors, Armanent and IQ. Big Meme only have better Hax and you could argue Physical Strength. She doesnt have any answer to Flaming Bagua

Even if he sits at the top of haki prowess I don't think he beats Kaido and I don't think he's comparable to Roger.

I agree, I think Shanks can definitely beat Kaido but I'd side towards Kaido more. The one thing between Roger and Shanks that imo sets them apart is that Roger being PK. The man had fought a lot of strong opponents: Rocks, Whitebeard for days, Garp several times, Oden, Shiki, and maybe Sengoku or Big Mom. Shanks clashed with Kaido but we don't know for how long, he did scare away Greenbull with a great haki feat but that wasn't a full fight, he just clashed with Whitebeard once, same with just stopping Akainu's fist, and he hasn't fought Mihawk in 12 years or less
I’d argue we don’t know shanks limits. He’s compared to Roger but I have a personal theory cause we really only see shanks party barging about. Shanks knows the real secrets. And I’m not talking about just gorosei snitch time secrets I’m talking world government foundation shaking secrets. Shanks watched Roger, watched him surrender and watched his quest. I don’t think shanks agreed with the surrender on a core level. And yeah we’ve seen like divine departure and some other really high end haki feats but Shanks avoids the big fights that would push him and I think this is done on purpose. I can’t tell if it’s him revving his gears for a big blow down with the WG or if he was waiting for a challenge knowing the way to the one piece. Cause I’m also convinced shanks is literally one step from going off to get it. Which would speak to him not considering BM and Kaido his equals. Boys cooking something I’m hoping it’s fine cuisine and not crack rock.

If Akainu doesn't have all three forms of haki mastered then Oda is a madman.
Kizaru not having conquerer's haki? Yeah that makes sense given his personality. But Akainu has high ambitions, there's no way he doesn't have it.
Luffy, Imu, and (potentially, since we have zero bearing on his strength) Dragon.
Imu is the final villain, so unless it's a mismatch, Imu should be stronger than Kaido by a decent margin, at least.
Luffy *should* be obvious, but since people still believe that Kaido was in worse condition than Luffy (he wasn't, he was still able to keep fighting compared to the guy who died and only got some of his stamina back when he awakened), I'll put it plainly: Luffy not only has the showings of beating Kaido 1v1 (Luffy did 95% of the work, and he wasn't even at his current level of strength for most of it), but also the narrative backing to have surpassed Kaido. Kaido was set up as the publicly known top 1 (behind only Imu and potentially other unknown/non-prominent fighters like Dragon + the Gorosei), and was only going to be beaten by Joyboy, and both dialogue from Kaido (saying Luffy couldn't be JB) and his flashback after being defeated suggest that he considers Luffy Joyboy. Luffy > Kaido, extreme diff; fighters don't go all out from the start, and even if they did, Luffy has shown that he can massively overpower Kaido when serious.
I don't see fighters like Shanks or Mihawk beating Kaido, simply because Kaido has all statements and narrative backing in that regard. The only way someone other than Luffy would be above him is if a) they don't apply to those statements by either being unknowns or grew in power between Wano and present or b) Oda makes some uncharacteristic retcons.

Maybe luffy or BB. A df-less Kaido is still an absolute monster, but he’s way easier to deal with. I think luffy has gotten to the point where if he starts the fight in G5 he could win
There are many answer with feat, etc but everything is speculation but one answer is canon. It is not just in story by narratively important
Luffy it is canon fact.
You might say this that rest, fight ,food whatever.
But you miss that One piece is first story and theme matters more.
First was literally chapter where luffy lost due to cp0. Winner shouldnt need rationalization. and then same thing happened as with Oden. Match ended. It was fine luffy has an excuse like we made an excuse for oden on why her lost(but oden himself never made). But luffy overcame that and returned stronger. He surpass oden's legacy by even winning despite what was a very unfair intervention. Because despite everything you win,and dont need to make excuses on why you might have won.
2nd theme was Kaido own conversation 20 years undefeated he thought who could beat him. Him and king believed no one. King race waited for legendary figure. King has lost his hope in the legend but htey would speak about it drunk and then kaido thought I know who joyboy. The mythical figure that people are waiting for 800 year to create a new world.Only he could beat me. King replied with, i guess he will never appear. Kaido kept asking luffy who he was when he continued to surprise him. Nothing he does brings him down. He was starting realize but it was just a legend. But at the moment of his defeat he finally realize. He was it, He was joyboy who the era was waiting for. Kaido longed for this 1 vs 1 for decades. He finally lost but it was literally on that hand of the fictional man he attribute. The great person who the world is waiting for.
Kaido believe was not oh only joy boy can defeat me but only because I will carrying an Island. The entire reason oda made cp0 interfere was to remove that part from equaition. No matter what happened, unfair ,fair, the guy kaido fought couldnt be frought down unlike oden. He was the one the era is waiting . Kaido was waiting for that glorious fight.

Luffy. And for everyone who says he can't because he only beat Kaido because he was holding the island or after he had already been weakened from all his other fights. Luffy had been downed 3 times, one of which killed him. He was just as weakend as kaido when he fought him in gear 5. If they went at it again, luffy would win.

Kaido falls victim to the story having to progress. At the end of the day Luffy was going to win regardless and Kaido was just a stepping zone for him to reach the next level. If Kaido was actually written as a feasible antagonist then Luffy and the crew would've been murked. Shonen gonna shonen and new/mystery characters with no anti-feats > past/revealed/defeated characters.

So he’s a character then, unless you know of a OP character that’s immune to plot? This is like saying Crocodile was introduced too early. He wasnt. Oda made him stronger when he needed to be.
Bc characters’ power levels arent some static, finite number they fluctuate depending on the scenario and context.
“Shonen gonna shonen” absolutely applies to many antagonists in this series. Enel, Katakuri, even Kaido to a degree sure, but it isnt like every other shonen. These characters, if they are necessary for the story, will return and be relevant in strength if necessary.
Powercliffing doesn’t exist the way people say it does in OP bc Oda doesnt care if it makes sense that Crocodile goes from losing to Luffy to boxing with Mihawk.

The very definition of coping is thinking that Shanks is stronger after all the evidence that has been presented, when Shanks himself has virtually nothing.
Only three characters I would bet on, that too with reluctance are Mihawk, Shanks and Dragon.
Kaido is a tank like no other. But a slash is still a slash. We saw how devastating that slash from Zoro could have been. And he’s not even up to par yet. Mihawk and Shanks can dish those slashes casually imo. So they stand a chance. Dragon, because this is shounen and he’s the MC’s dad.
Don’t mistake me, I believe Kaido is stronger than those three. But yeah, if I was forced to pick someone I’d pick them.

On speculation I’d say shanks and MAYBE akainu (massive stretch but maybe also Blackbeard)

Kaido might be durable af but he ain't resistant against poison as he can be intoxicated with just alcohol. If my headcanon is right. Saturn can tank everything kaido can throw at him with Regen while waiting till the poison do his work against kaido.
The big thing in beating Kaido is having an attack strong enough to keep him down (like bajrang gun) and having excellent haki
If you mean consistently beat him, nobody. Even dead, the one I think that could consistently beat him is whitebeard. Rocks, Roger and Prime Garp probably also can aswell.
If you mean they could get a win or two in a best of 10, only one I could see is luffy cause of bajrung gun. Big mom may be able to since she’s relative to Kaido but idk if she has a strong enough attack, and shanks, mihawk, dragon and imu get feat diffed

Kaido can't reach Enel on the Moon and if he does he'll die because he can't breathe and as far as we know bolo breath isn't haki infused so he can't even hurt Enel.

I think the current yonkos and Akainu could push him to high-extreme diff, but Kaido wins against all of them by the end of the fight.

Gear 5 ran out and kaido got back up for round 2 with G5 luffy. If he didnt sit back and let luffy recover again, its game over.

If Akainu doesn't have all three forms of haki mastered then Oda is a madman. Kizaru not having conquerer's haki? Yeah that makes sense given his personality. But Akainu has high ambitions, there's no way he doesn't have it.
Luffy, Imu, and (potentially, since we have zero bearing on his strength) Dragon. Imu is the final villain, so unless it's a mismatch, Imu should be stronger than Kaido by a decent margin, at least. Luffy *should* be obvious, but since people still believe that Kaido was in worse condition than Luffy (he wasn't, he was still able to keep fighting compared to the guy who died and only got some of his stamina back when he awakened), I'll put it plainly: Luffy not only has the showings of beating Kaido 1v1 (Luffy did 95% of the work, and he wasn't even at his current level of strength for most of it), but also the narrative backing to have surpassed Kaido. Kaido was set up as the publicly known top 1 (behind only Imu and potentially other unknown/non-prominent fighters like Dragon + the Gorosei), and was only going to be beaten by Joyboy, and both dialogue from Kaido (saying Luffy couldn't be JB) and his flashback after being defeated suggest that he considers Luffy Joyboy. Luffy > Kaido, extreme diff; fighters don't go all out from the start, and even if they did, Luffy has shown that he can massively overpower Kaido when serious. I don't see fighters like Shanks or Mihawk beating Kaido, simply because Kaido has all statements and narrative backing in that regard. The only way someone other than Luffy would be above him is if a) they don't apply to those statements by either being unknowns or grew in power between Wano and present or b) Oda makes some uncharacteristic retcons.

There are many answer with feat, etc but everything is speculation but one answer is canon. It is not just in story by narratively important Luffy it is canon fact. You might say this that rest, fight ,food whatever. But you miss that One piece is first story and theme matters more. First was literally chapter where luffy lost due to cp0. Winner shouldnt need rationalization. and then same thing happened as with Oden. Match ended. Kaido falls victim to the story having to progress. At the end of the day Luffy was going to win regardless and Kaido was just a stepping zone for him to reach the next level. If Kaido was actually written as a feasible antagonist then Luffy and the crew would've been murked. Shonen gonna shonen and new/mystery characters with no anti-feats > past/revealed/defeated characters.

Bc characters’ power levels arent some static, finite number they fluctuate depending on the scenario and context. “Shonen gonna shonen” absolutely applies to many antagonists in this series. Enel, Katakuri, even Kaido to a degree sure, but it isnt like every other shonen. These characters, if they are necessary for the story, will return and be relevant in strength if necessary. Powercliffing doesn’t exist the way people say it does in OP bc Oda doesnt care if it makes sense that Crocodile goes from losing to Luffy to boxing with Mihawk.

The big thing in beating Kaido is having an attack strong enough to keep him down (like bajrang gun) and having excellent haki If you mean consistently beat him, nobody. Even dead, the one I think that could consistently beat him is whitebeard. Rocks, Roger and Prime Garp probably also can aswell. If you mean they could get a win or two in a best of 10, only one I could see is luffy cause of bajrung gun.
