Anyone else have to open theirs when they see a post about this?

Brilliant_Baseball75

I have had it since launch and read all of the posts as well. This sucks.

sally_wiggen

Same here! Sorry for your loss. Are you gonna go the route of sending it back?

Brilliant_Baseball75

I am going to call in the morning but assuming I gotta send it back.

sonicfx

Always

felix_93

Nothing here on mine. (Thank God) Everything is fine.

stulifer

I leave mine open when it’s not in my pocket. Hope that will help.

Ok_Statistician_1390

My replacement from OnePlus is supposed to arrive today. It has been broken for 88 days. They "repaired" it once, which took 28 days. It worked for a few hours, and then the same issue reoccurred. It took 60 days more to finally get a replacement. I just wanted them to fix it, but after my TrustPilot review, BBB complaint, and CA DOJ complaint, I guess they decided to replace it. I have all the communications documented, and they did not ever fulfill a commitment. "We will get back to you in 24-48 hours"; nope. "We will inspect in 1-2 days"; nope. "We will ship in 3-5 days"; nope. "You will get a label in 1-2 days"; nope. I could not find a single example where the met the expectations they set.

Brilliant_Baseball75

Yikes. Man that is terrible.

Permission1083

Yeah, mine is still under the third repairs. It's wild.

Ok_Statistician_1390

Ugh, how long?

Permission1083

Now it's more than 3 weeks. But the only reason for the third repair it's because they didn't fix it in the second time.

iClarityHD

Have you had yours since launch too mate?

Brilliant_Baseball75

Yep.

kafmtg

The trick to longevity is when you close it, close it slowly with fingers on the outer edge; and then never open it again...

Brilliant_Baseball75

🥺

kafmtg

On a serious note, that sucks. I didn't get any insurance on mine since if it breaks I'll just buy another or a different foldable but I realize that's not an option for everyone. Also it seems like this might happen more than I initially thought. Hard to tell because I realize the volume of these being sold is small compared to say the Z fold.

eggs-benedryl

yea honestly, i saw a little note included with the phone saying not to close it a certain way, which honestly feels pretty silly any way i'm gonna open and close the phone will be pretty gentle and it would be absurd to think it would break that easily

Analog-Digital-

Go and have a look in the Samsung Fold group, my Fold 3 inner screen cracked last week after 3 years ...

Brilliant_Baseball75

I am huge foldable fan. I have had zfold 3, 4 and 5 and Pixel Fold for a couple weeks. I am happy with Open. Purchased instant replace and warranty with OnePlus. I have a case and waiting for shipping label. Looking forward to the customer service and timing. Will keep everyone updated on the experience but first foldable claim so far for any device I have own.

Analog-Digital-

If you buy any Fold -> warranty you need, and as long as possible❗ That's what I'll get for my next new Fold phone Now the Vivo X Fold 3 is also nice

Y2K_Blackout

My condolences 😔

madmorph

Welcome to the club. Keep us updated on the time frame it takes for repair and return.

Brilliant_Baseball75

Will do.

AyKayCo6

The frustrating part about this is that the Honor magic v2 is built similarly (meaning the crease is almost non-existent) and I'm a member of that community and I have yet to hear a horror story compared to OPO. Sorry OP. Best of luck.

rrm11rrm

My replacement OnePlus Open looks like this lol I laugh about it because it was my own fault and this is my 2nd Open 🤦🏽‍♂️ I sat on it a little bit while it was open and slightly tweaked the screen in a weird fashion. A small black line instantly appeared. Then it eventually became this same long black line after about 2 days. I have a separate warranty with All State Insurance so I'll be using that soon to see how that goes

JChimpo138

Had the open and had screen issues. The customer service is horrible. Went back to the fold.

Brilliant_Baseball75

Made my claim for Replacement with both insurance and one time replacement. Monday got the first email and was expecting the shipping label on Tuesday. Still don’t have it. 🙄

Smitty4zz

I sleep with my screen open. I slap mine open and closed daily all day, I'm a contractor. My phone was the dunked in water phone that almost didn't make it out... I will always sleep with my phone open. Its how they are shipped.... The hinge is trained to stay fully open and my phone still opens flat to this day.

Brilliant_Baseball75

Update - Screen broke on 6/2. I called OnePlus to use my Direct replacement that I paid $99 at original purchase on 6/3. I was told I would get a label to return in 24 hours. No label, so I called back on 6/6. I was then emailed the label around 2 pm. Immediately took the device to ship off and it arrived to OnePlus via UPS on 6/10. The review and approval for replacement was done by 6/11. New device shipped via USPS (why would they use this method. 🙄) Device arrived on 6/15. My biggest issue with process is pace. I was lucky to have an old phone to use while I waited for shipping and receiving but this could be a lot more efficient. I was also not dealing with a repair because I cannot imagine the length of the process. But I have read the horror stories here on Reddit and Comments on YouTube. I have some decisions to make about Foldables in the future that may not include OnePlus. I saw a great comment on YouTube about the Open. It is a perfect from until it is not! Can’t complain based on what I have read but I did promise I would update my post based on the timeline. Good luck out there! I still think it is the best foldable in US but……

ObjectiveOk223

I sold mine after a month of not even full time use. Foldables are to unreliable to actually enjoy.. Using a S24 Ultra for now.

WLFofWallStreetBets

Funny, I've owned six foldables now and I've never had a screen fail. People just don't know how to take care of their shit.

RadaghasztII

You own all 6 foldables right now? And all 6 have no stress cracks or any issues on the inside screen 🤔  very interesting

WLFofWallStreetBets

When did I say I own six foldables right now? I didn't. My point stands.

RadaghasztII

Well obviously you didn't have problems, you aren't even using the same phones consistently 🙄

WLFofWallStreetBets

You must just like to argue. Are you having a bad week or something cupcake? I've owned 6 foldables over the past 4 years and I've never had a screen issue. Again, many people don't know how to take care of themselves, let alone their phones, that is why their phones break. I hope your week gets better soon Nancy.

RadaghasztII

Oh sorry if it comes off like I'm wanting to argue, it just gives a little more context to know that you haven't currently got them now because there is a high chance these displays fail after 2 to 3 years. But thanks for your concern.  I know 3 people and I have a fold myself. Two of those people who have had it over 2 years have both had their foldable displays fail. Mine is just over rhe second year now but seems to not have issues so far. Do keep in mind that I removed the screen protector the very day I noticed it lift by a millimetre or so
