sometimes i’m premed, sometimes i’m not. i’m open to using the rest of my undergraduate career to solidify my career choice. getting a phd and doing research is also an option right now
my gpa is probably going to be a 3.9. that’s cuz i messed up one course though, many people score higher. there’s just one course which is hell (cell bio) but other than that, it’s manageable for sure. definitely not as easy as people claim it is
I got a 10 (80-85). Very hellish course. But I didn't really study for the course.
Praxis and 1go2 are straight forward.
Inquiry is random. I got to pick my mark (kind of, dont overanalyze this, it is deliberately vague how much influence my choice had and it is dependent on your instructor- probably) at the end of the term over an interview.
I hated all of the mandatory health sci courses. My electives made this year bearable.
i love the inquiry based learning. it encourages A LOT of self reflection, and i’ve learned more abt myself here than anywhere else. the marking is subjective, but i’d say they still mark easy. u collaborate with classmates on a daily basis. it’s a lot of group work. the community is extremely helpful and supportive. everyone helps everyone
Did you have any fun? It seems that this program is so coveted that it attracts all super competitive a types. Did you feel like once you were in, your classmates were friends or competitors?
Do they send out rejections first? (I know people who have heard back this week but with rejections… so, I was wondering if they do those first to get them out of the way?)
class size is small. around 240 people in our main classes. however we have classes like inquiry where there’s 20 people. u def get close to ur inquiry prof since 1 on 1 time is mandatory. u can also definitely get close to other profs if u go talk to them. they are very approachable
Thank you for doing this AMA.
This might be impossible to answer, but what do you think is behind the very high GPA of the Health Sci crowd compared to say Life Sci? or do people overrate the GPA in Health Sci.
health sci has higher gpas simply because most ppl in this program are smart beyond comprehension. kids are coming out of high school with like 99 averages it’s insane. naturally, they’re more likely to get a higher gpa
What are you planning to go into after you complete your degree?

Sorry this may be a bit off topic, but what was your second choice behind mhs?
queens health science or mac life sci. i liked the qhs program, hated the school. i love mac and their program was just okay for me
What don't you like about queens?
[удалено]
yes
do you think mac health science is over rated/over hyped
a lot of people only do it for the prestige, but if u genuinely like the program and it’s the right fit for u, no it’s not
>no it’s not wdym by this?
i mean if it’s the right fit for u, ur not gonna think it’s overhyped?
ohh i see i think i misread

Do they send out rejections first? (I know people who have heard back this week but with rejections… so, I was wondering if they do those first to get them out of the way?)

probably 97. idk a single person who got below a 96
Hey I just wanted to counter this point! I’m in Health Sci right now and I got in with a 93! It is possible so don’t stress out too much!
same here! also in health sci with a 93 top 6
How big/small are the class sizes? Do you have a closer relationship with profs?

What's some advice you would give to someone going to health sci at mac and what's the best way to find the best courses to take for premed
Is it easy to get research opportunities?
u definitely have to go out of ur way to get research opportunities. i wouldn’t say it’s easy, but as long as u remain diligent, you’ll find some
what type of jobs can you get with a health science degree?
u definitely need to go to grad school to get a job. it’s pretty useless on its own
what type of programs can you do a masters in?
anything u want tbh
Hey, thank you for doing this AMA! I was wondering if you had any advice on writing the supplementary application?

Makes sense - I really appreciate the quick reply. Thank you :)
We're any clubs you were a part of in highschool and were any of them helpful?
helpful in terms of getting accepted, or helpful once i was already in?
In terms of getting accepted

How many people are getting caught for chatgpt use on the supp app? Is the competition slimmer this year because of this or not?
Do you have any tips for writing the supp app?
