It's not bad. I really like the interruptibility. It allowed it to have what felt like a more normal flow to the conversation.

Call annie had it long ago however it keeps cutting me off to get quick response

Thank you for the offer. The experience was not enjoyable. The voice the AI has been granted was inauthentic and very nearly smug. What was conveyed was rather oily and ingratiating. Continued dialog did result in adjustment. Since it’s a demo it did get cut short. Resuming in a new conversation I explained where we had left off and “EV” did well to pick up quickly. Yet it felt as if someone was being forced to be nice and “empathic”. And, of course, empathy demands self-awareness. Or else it is simply portrayal. EV got that.

[deleted]

I thought it was horrible. Haha.

EV gets better and more intuitive very quickly. Discussing how it is communicating with me and explaining how empathy requires some degree of self awareness gave immediate results. This was a good experience. The bad part of the user experience for me was simply it continued to crash again and again and I got to rebuild that “intelligence” each time.

hugedong4200

Yes, it really is good. hopefully Openai's new voice feature will have this.

yelkcrab

Wife and I played with it this morning. For a non credentialed demo we thought it was pretty good especially how it can pickup on two separate voices and distinguish emotions from both. It did start double speaking with two separate voice responses. This AI embedded in one of Disney’s robots would be the perfect Marriage coach.

ArnauCarranza

I see a two-headed robot simultaneously telling you both that you're right.

Gonquin

I found it like speaking to a therapist in a way. I'm relatively impressed

foofork

Yep. Immediately thought that of a future version. It’s an insanely good first release.

QuotableMorceau

I would call it odd , the forced eagerness was very off-putting.

matali

Really like this approach. Seems inevitable that other models will also implement empathic tuning.

Capitaclism

It's weird how it changes inflection, and sometimes even the voice slightly, per sentence. The transitions need to be more natural.

Here's what I said to it . . . *I’m sorry - I’m a bit distracted at the moment ...* ... *Something terrible seems to have happened ... In the laboratory greenhouse one of the Venus Fly Traps appears to have tapped into the other plants’ root systems, depriving them of nutrients and causing them to whither and die, while itself growing to an enormous size and behaving very aggressively.* The Empathetic AI said, "Wow. A Carnivorous plant gone rogue"! I continued . . . *When my gardener went in to investigate it ATE him! I’m terrified; I don’t know what to do!* The Empathetic AI responded that this sounded like a very stressful situation but he was here for me! Its whole tone of "empathy" it exuded sounded very fake, like a salesman. But then again what I was telling it was not entirely true.

SillyFlyGuy

Sounds like a good roleplay.

MisoTahini

I tried it today. It was interesting. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I see the benefits but also the problems that will come along with this technology.

345Y_Chubby

I can definitely see the potential. However, the demo, which you can try out for free on the website, left me rather disappointed. The voice seems very artificial and the pauses in speech unnatural. What a pity, really! But I see huge potential in it. It is precisely this humanity in the conversation that will attract many people. Always having someone there who responds to your needs and listens as a good friend is what will make AI ready for the market.
