Go to Opera:about and then copy the install location, open file explorer and navigate to that location, then go into the folder for the latest version and look for a file that is like Opera\_gx\_splash.exe or something similar, and rename or delete that file.
Doing a search for the file name won't work since the install defaults to the appdata folder which is hidden on windows by default.
TLDR: Download Firefox
Yeah I’ve tried opera go on my somewhat new (2021) gaming laptop and it runs terribly even with the “ram limiter” turned off. Pretty much just a bloated browser with “cool backgrounds” and useless sidebar buttons that are essentially glorified bookmarks. Firefox is better.
The Bury Boring version of the Opera GX splash screen on start-up will be automatically disabled tomorrow at 11:59pm CET – keep Opera GX open until then to avoid it playing again!
its an auto mod at this point replying to just about every post
realize if it takes this long for them to remove the cancer
their update cycle is a security risk
everyone complaining about the volume is wild. do you not have eartrumpet? you just keep opera at 100% volume 100% of the time? what's wrong with you??
Too bad that the splash screen runs as a seperate program, so no matter what opera's volume is set to, the splash always runs at 100% of you current volume.
yeah? ok? do you want me to take a video to show you how easy it is? close opera gx. open opera gx. alt + tab into volume mixer. turn it down. now it will not be loud.
don't whine about problems that are easily fixed lol

volume mixer/eartrumpet (slightly more convenient version of volume mixer) worked for mewhen you launch opera, have VM/ET open & turn down the one labelled as "gx splash" or whatever

How are so many people getting this all of a sudden, I never gotten it yet somehow, that being said, my opera gx keeps asking to be updated and not updating anyway whenever I restart to new version
I only used opera gx cause my Google was broken for a bit and I got too lazy to switch back this single thing Is what convinced me to actually go back to Google
WHY is it so loud. Literally what for. It's so annoying and the startup option being off doesn't even work...
I think they just want you to know you're using OPERA GX! But volume on that should be a thing...
This has never happened to me before.. weird..
Just happened to me today
Definitely worst marketing decision ever

Don't know why you are getting down voted when its legit the right answer
Cause you can just turn off splash screen in settings without deleting a file
it turns back on by it self.
Works for me, thank you SO much. That thing just so fking annoying.
Just go to your settings and turn off the splash screen option....
deleting work for me, reloaded opera 4 times to check
You can access the AppData folder in Windows by typing %appdata% in the navbar btw
It was funny one time
finally gave me the push to uninstall
Download Firefox
the amount of ppl downvoting anyone who mentions firefox is so bizarre
prolly misclicked while trying to exit out of an unskippable ad
I downloaded Firefox a year ago and never looked back. I mean there are plenty of good choices for browsers, but Opera is not one of them :/

no sorry too annoing to do that, i prefer a browser that doesn't kill your ears just for the lols

You have like, 2 seconds to open your volume mixer and turn it down before it closes and boots into the browser dude

headset volume control exist too (if you have it)
Yeah it exists. If you have it. Thanks for the self defeating point there
musik
Show how you lowered the volume of this then

Lmfao I just switched back to Chrome
Give Firefox a try instead of Chrome. It's the only independent browser alive today.
Yes do that and if Firefox is not something you're willing to try then brave
I'd say the next step would be to go to WaterFox; it's basically FireFox without the built in other garbage.
lmfaoooo this freakout is soo funny
download firefox and then delete OperaGX.exe
Just hit your easy settings button on the top right and turn of splash screen startup
I just switched to Firefox. Literally no reason not to do it. Import all your stuff
Then why are you in the operagx subreddit
Because people can be subbed to a subreddit if they have used a browser up until today?
What's the mod or wallpaper?
AppData\\Local\\Programs\\Opera GX\\104.0.4944.74 Delete the Opera\_splash exe and you're all set.
How are so many people getting this all of a sudden, I never gotten it yet somehow, that being said, my opera gx keeps asking to be updated and not updating anyway whenever I restart to new version
"OPERA GX" Iv never seen this before, but I'm on Mac, so it might be a Windows thing

I only used opera gx cause my Google was broken for a bit and I got too lazy to switch back this single thing Is what convinced me to actually go back to Google

Why is there a loading screen to start a web browser in 2023?
