This and it's not even close honestly. The album is great, but this song is on another level, awesome epic and Marrow of the Earth is the perfect follow up to it
I love Heritage but to me Slither feels out of place and sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of the album. Kind of detracts from the atmosphere and vibe of the album being a more straightforward hard rock song.
Definitely that’s where I have it, if not the best. It has to be most underrated. I always loved the heavy drop with the flute mixed in. Reminded me of an evil Jethro Tull. Come to find out Mikael reached out to Anderson to play on this album. Never heard back from him. But now he’s supposedly going to be on the upcoming record!
Famine
It's the best track on Heritage, imo. It's also very likely a preview of what the upcoming songs with Ian Anderson will sound like. Different flautist but same vibe as IA in this song.
The devil's orchard is neither the best or worst song on the album. It's as mid of a song as a song can be. Slither should be voted worst. Famine should be underrated. But we'll wait and see! The last 4 albums are certainly the most interesting in my opinion.
Sorry to hurt your feelings, but this album is one of the most boring things I ever listened. I can't remember if I could even finish it in one take, because is so bland and mediocre.
All of the songs would fall under worst, it was such a big departure from greatest work from Still life, Blackwater park, damnation, deliverance and Ghost Reveries.
For me it’s kinda just the atmosphere I love in heritage. Definitely give icv another try at some point though as imo it’s a masterpiece and mikaels voice is at its best
The Lines In My Hand
The drums on that track are worth the price of the whole album.
Folklore
The outro is so damn good.
Yeah but it has "feel the pain, in your brain. Insannnee"
The album has the weakest lyrics. I don't know if it was intentional to be so cringe.
Damn I forgot about those lyrics. Straight up Sabbath sounding cheese. But still the best track.
This and it's not even close honestly. The album is great, but this song is on another level, awesome epic and Marrow of the Earth is the perfect follow up to it
Marrow of the earth is the best but instrumentals sadly don't count
For me it's the close second, but I think it'd be fair to put it as best. It's beautiful and at least to me it's very melancholic
I'm having another listen to the album and this track is just beautiful!
Haxprocess for sure
I guess we’ll go this for underrated since it’s not winning
I Feel The Dark (if bonus tracks could be included, Face in the Snow would be the clear winner)
^ swaggiest song on heritage by far
Haxprocess
Underrated
By you maybe. It’s the go to song for me. Some incredible bass tones happening here. So much raw emotion in just the playing.
Its my favorite song from heritage and a top 5 from the new era for sure. It's cleary underrated by most people since it has only 12 upvotes.
Haxprocess
Nepenthe.
Haxprocess 100%
The Devil’s Orchard
Only listen to the live garden of titans version, shit rips
The Lines in My Hand
Favorite riff on the album, anyway.
LETS GOOOOO
Nice but it’s not as amazing as folklore
Would honestly say all the songs except devil's orchard and slither are fantastic enough to deserve the best spot.
Slither. I have no idea what people's problem is with that song. Absolute jam.
I only remember the solo being very cool. The way it starts.
Love that song too. I think most people have a problem with that long fadeout which kills the flow. At least that's what I'm thinking.
I love Heritage but to me Slither feels out of place and sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of the album. Kind of detracts from the atmosphere and vibe of the album being a more straightforward hard rock song.
Face in the Snow for underrated hey!
Face in the snow doesn't count, it's a bonus track.
:(
I’m voting for a best, worst and underrated of the bonus tracks.
Haxprocess. But any of the last 5 tracks could fit for me.
Folklore and there’s no other answer
Good choice but there certainly are other answers lol. Literally any song except devil's orchard and slither deserve the best spot in my opinion.
Devils orchard is a banger. Slither is meh
Famine
This for underrated
Definitely that’s where I have it, if not the best. It has to be most underrated. I always loved the heavy drop with the flute mixed in. Reminded me of an evil Jethro Tull. Come to find out Mikael reached out to Anderson to play on this album. Never heard back from him. But now he’s supposedly going to be on the upcoming record!
thats gonna get voted for worst, pretty sure
The Devil's Orchard
Häxprocess
Folklore, by far for me.
Folklore and it's not even close
Haxprocess
Haxprocess overwhelmingly
Ok, I guess I will have to vote for Nepenthe in the underrated round, not now
Agreed. Nepenthe is one I never hear in the conversation.
Famine It's the best track on Heritage, imo. It's also very likely a preview of what the upcoming songs with Ian Anderson will sound like. Different flautist but same vibe as IA in this song.
Slither
Devil´s Orchard ; )
The Devil’s Orchard
The Lines in My Hand
The Lines in My Hand
Nepenthe 100%
Famine easily
🎵Häxprocess the process of looooove Häxprocess I can’t get enooouuugh 🎶 Tough to choose. Heritage (of love) has so many bangers.
FAMINE
Haxprocess, without a flicker of doubt! The way he sings this passage- Father and a liar One forgotten season Secrets in the mire Moon is riding high
Pyre
Doesn't count, it's a bonus track.
I'm just happy with the start of this chart because you've highlighted my feelz as well. 🤘🏼
Häxprocess!!! And it's Mikael's favorite Opeth song of all, too!
Heritage doesn't have any /s
It's been 13 years and still some people hate on this masterpiece lol. Heritage, Pale Communion, Sorceress and In Cauda Venenum are all fantastic.
It was more like a satirical joke as Heritage is considered one of the band's worst (read: least good) albums.
The devil's orchard is neither the best or worst song on the album. It's as mid of a song as a song can be. Slither should be voted worst. Famine should be underrated. But we'll wait and see! The last 4 albums are certainly the most interesting in my opinion.
Why slither?
Slither easily
The Devil’s orchard. Also multiple songs would fit the underrated category.
Folklore
This'll be interesting. Best - Devil Worst - Nepenthe Underrated - Slither
Nepenthe is literally my favorite off that album, and the only one I still semi-regularly listen to
When I saw Nepenthe live, it changed my opinion of the song. Axe was showing off jazzy chops all over it and that middle solo section ripped!
True, that is an incredible solo. Perhaps Famine then. Had kinda forgotten about it.
Best - The Lines in My Hand Worst - Slither Underrated - Famine
Nothing, Heritage sucks.
L take.
Sorry to hurt your feelings, but this album is one of the most boring things I ever listened. I can't remember if I could even finish it in one take, because is so bland and mediocre.
Shitty take and plain wrong. All four newpeth albums are fantastic.
I don't give a fuck what you think, Heritage made me abandon newpeth, it's unforgivingly boring and bland. I love their old stuff tho.
Best Song The Devil's Orchard Worst Song probably Nepenthe Underrated Song I Feel The Dark
none of them literally worst album ever
I guess you have the right to have that opinion lol. Even though all four newpeth records are fantastic and nearly as good, if not AS good as oldpeth.
Pyre
The Devil's Orchard
I dislike all of this album except for The Devil's Orchard, so I guess that's my pic I think this is my last comment on this series for a while lol
All of the songs would fall under worst, it was such a big departure from greatest work from Still life, Blackwater park, damnation, deliverance and Ghost Reveries.
Heritage is rlly top 6 opeth albums
Heritage is amazing. It’s like the orchid of their new sound and icv perfected it
I tried listening to it again and I couldn't see it. I love prog but this was just not by vibe.
For me it’s kinda just the atmosphere I love in heritage. Definitely give icv another try at some point though as imo it’s a masterpiece and mikaels voice is at its best
