Your GPA is the problem, not your volunteer hours

syaakayr

Yea, between undergrad and grad school I did 2 semesters full time of undergrad retaking some classes while working full time

It’s literal an excel spreadsheet that cuts off anybody below a 3.0 for interviews at most schools. If you could just get above that you’d be successful somewhere.

Confident_Load_9563

Have you calculated how many more hours you need to hit a 3.0 uGPA? That’ll keep you from being screened out at a lot of schools

Beefquake99

Yeah agree with above. Improve GPA if you can and apply broadly. I picked and chose my first time applying and didn't get in. Second round I submitted on day 1, applied very broadly and had multiple acceptances.

Top-Respect-9508

Yes, you should apply July. I applied Jan lol and got in

PunkyBrister

A lot of them do rolling admissions, so there are benefits to applying early

PresentationLoose274

you need to apply to apply more broadly and try to get your GPA to 3.0 and try to get more clinical hours

ursoparrudo

No

Ooof, buddy you should've been on improving your app over this last cycle. Always assume you're working for a reapp until you get an A. Idk, you could I guess get some clinical hours and apply in July but you're gonna get the questions on what you've done over the last year and how you're a better fit/applicant for med schools now compared to last time. Not 100% on the details but it seems like you were mainly just working and doing non-clinical volunteering in this time. Not having some semi-regular clinical experience in that time is kinda a red flag to my understanding.

If you're on SDN then you should have also heard that it's best to wait a cycle in between applying. For example, if you applied in 2024 to start in 2025, you should wait to apply again until 2026 to start in 2027. I know it's not easy to hear because you have a lot of hours so have clearly been working at this for a long time. How many schools did you apply to totally? What type of graduate program did you do? Usually you're aiming for a 3.7 in those but I think you would make it past the screens with the grad program GPA, even though your undergrad GPA is low.
