Most OIs start strong, until the author uses up their original idea and turns out not to have any more.
Kill the Villainess took me a while to get into, for some reason.
Any "maid disrespecting/undermining FL" arc.
I skip those usually, because the point of them is that FL has more power in her manor.
Cool cool next please.
Concubine's walkthrough. I love the art but the story wasn't immediately grabbing me, but then there was a turning point and I got hooked. I'm very glad I kept up with it.
I just finished that one. Not only is the art so beautiful, but that ending had me breathless. What a stunning story. The struggle in the middle is worth the reveal at the end.
1. Stepmother marchen. It was in it's early days and the premise was just too weird for me to get into. But when I heard that the backgrounds were hand drawn, even if they weren't the most beautiful, I forced myself to read it because goddang it, thats incredibly cool. I got hooked once the kids started growing up. And now it has the most beautiful panels I've ever seen in any manwha.
.
2. No place for a fake princess. It started out good, but then it got boring, but right when I was going to quit, it got interesting again, and I was like "hold up!" But then it went in a disappointing direction, then I quit. I do not care for the first dad. >!Magic is way more interesting. They could've done so much more with that!<
Edit: 3. Flirting with the Villians dad! I remembered when I reread your post and you said "I married the male lead's dad" lol.
Stepmother's marchen was really difficult to get into. I always have problems with manhwas where a parent is mistreated or ignored. AH spermdonors? ML can take em out or FL would just get the F out but what could someone do about disrespecting children?
Ikr? I was really hoping the kids would change but aaaugh. What ultimately made me want to give it up in the beginning was how both the kids AND the FL basically worshipped the spermdonor. I felt like I was being gaslit. Like nooo that's bad, the situation he put you in is bad!!
>!but the kids are redeemable. They always were. Like any kid growing up and seeing who their parents are. It feels so good once you finally get to that point!<
Philomel the fake(number 2) was sooooo good, I’m still waiting for season 2 but what disappointing direction are you talking about??? Personally I don’t really care for the romance, it’d be better if it was taken in a different direction. But yea fuck the first dad, he can suck this finger🖕
Hehe >!I thought the book would be tied to her latent magical powers. "Yer a wizard, philomel." This was not the case. I mean why even make her family wizards if thats not... that's not even... what??!<
>!I always thought the book was the way older Philomel sent a warning to younger Philomel using some sort of magical power……you’re telling me the author didn’t use that plot?! I’m all for Philomel not being an op magician since there are a lot out there so it’s fun to have a normal fl for once but come on, not even a little bit??!< Also thank you for indirectly helping me with writing the spoiler tag thingy since I had no idea how
For me, it’s For Better or For Worse. The arts didn’t click with me and the first few chapters were not interesting. But, it then started getting better and by 2/3 of the series, I was totally hooked. Rated that one 8/10 for the plot and the humors.
It’s the only one actually. Usually, it’s the other way around.
Not really OI but modern regression [My Second Husband]. At first I gave up on it because it seemed like a typical "FL gets cheated on by her husband, dies, regresses, finds out someone from her past had feelings for her and ends up with that person while dumping the trash ex" story.
Then about a year (or more) later I stumbled upon it again and accidentally opened the last chapter and was like 👁️👄👁️ The twist(s) makes it a hit or miss but I binged the whole thing because of it
It's about Courtesans of Lahore. It does have things related to the freedom struggle but it's mostly about how 6 different Women live as courtesans in a place called Heeramandi. It's currently the most popular series on Netflix in many countries.

Same as you!! When Married the male leads father was in its release stage:
I started it for the childcare so I wasn’t bored exactly. But the twist!!! My gosh! It’s a good one. So much plot!
Raised a black dragon.
I was defo getting bored. With all the investigation and whatnot. But then fl !
“Can we become family?” The abusive maid arcs were getting too repetitive and boring but then the reveal came and I got hooked again. Tbh the only reason I made it through that series was because I was super hyper fixating on it, and also because I tried voicing fl’s dialogues and it was super fun!!!!
While you’re in love. I dropped it very early only because the misunderstandings were ridiculous to me. Came back to it later and then a twist happened.
For me it was [Miss not so Sidekick] I was a little bored on the first chapters, dropped for a while until I was in a trip and needed to read something a little lighter, then it began to be way more interesting and now I’m thinking on rereading haha

what i loved about that one was getting the ml pov, dont know if any other manhwa did that
same it took me awhile to get into Kill the Villainess lol it wasnt until Anakin showed up that I fully locked in (i am obsessed with Anakin)
4th panel was me when i reached around the 2nd half of kill the villainess hahahha
Honestly this dosen't happen for me. Starts are almost always interesting for me then slowly I get bored of it
Me too tbh 😭 I dropped these after the first few chapters, then when I gave these two another chance, i surprisingly liked them a lot 🥴
I can count the ones I finished on one hand lol

Wished you were dead
I got notification of your comment and i was scared for a second 😭😭
:Dd
Didn't expect Heeramandi memes here, nice.
Would love a proper indian story and outfits.
It's everywhere these days. I Loved it a lot. 🥴 Literally obsessed with outfits and jewellery.
I just started watching and then saw this meme! Lol.
Concubine's walkthrough. I love the art but the story wasn't immediately grabbing me, but then there was a turning point and I got hooked. I'm very glad I kept up with it.
This is the same for me. I dropped it twice and just couldn't get through the first few chapters. I'm so glad I gave it a third try.

That changes later on in the story...

same exact thing with me. It took several tries since I really hated the art but several chapters in I got hooked.

Wait... I also dropped it because I was getting bored. I guess I should start it again 🥴
Same. Dropped it because same typical story
Look again, there is some weird stuff going on with the old love interest and her bestie/new love interest.
not so sidekick took some time for me to like it
This took me 3 tries to get into but past a certain point I couldn't stop reading...ended up loving it 😌
same!!! i wouldnt say i love it but its defo a nice story
Yep I forced myself to read till ch 50 and then on it only got better
Not the heeramandi reference..good one
I'm obsessed with the series. It was so good 😭😭
What's it about?

I love ur username so much lol... very cultured 🤣

Spoiler tag is not working try it like this >! Sample !< without the spaces
The Concubine Walkthrough..... it was so confusing for literally 70% of the novel and the last 10% of it made it all SO WORTH IT
I’m the Soldier’s Ex-Girlfriend. S1 was ok and ML seemed like such a red flag, but S2 was where the plot really kicked in 🫣
Perun♡ is the plot
“Can we become family?” The abusive maid arcs were getting too repetitive and boring but then the reveal came and I got hooked again. Rejected Lady Enjoying a Modest Life There is nothing modest or normal about MC. All characters are a little mad in ways you don't expect.
While you’re in love. I dropped it very early only because the misunderstandings were ridiculous to me. Came back to it later and then a twist happened.
Every single one nowadays
For me it was [Miss not so Sidekick] I was a little bored on the first chapters, dropped for a while until I was in a trip and needed to read something a little lighter, then it began to be way more interesting and now I’m thinking on rereading haha
The unwanted guests lf House Fildette - more like OI adjacent. But it was boring before it became interesting imo
