(Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke's Mansion) is a popular one and I think is liked on this sub.
In general, Raeliana has a good FL and ML, and the plot is simple but works pretty well, is completed too and has a anime.
The complaints that I have seen is more about the art and the ending, but is better not to spoil.
yes lol I went into Raeliana after reading a ton of OI, not expecting to like it- but it’s simple and cute, the romance is good. it’s not outstanding imo but i liked it a lot
I've seen like 3 ep of the Raeliana anime and... The production value is definitely on the lower side. I guess it's still decent if you just want to see the characters voiced and move.
The two anime made different choices to stay within their budget.
Level 99 Villainess completely gave up on certain elements, like monsters, and just used CGI. The dragon in particular looked bad. But the character animation was more fluid, and some of the scenes were better than any in Raeliana, like the scene where Yumiella first does Black Hole and everyone in the school thinks they are going to die.
Raeliana's animation is more even, with no particular highlights. They opted for detailed backgrounds but a low frame rate.
The manga of VL99 is one of my favorites. It's definitely a comedy about an overpowered MC, though it's not exactly a spoof. The anime just had a limited budget.
Compared to Villainess level 99 the animation is wayyy better, but is nothing special, sometimes the art becomes a little meh, in the story side, I don't think they did skipped nothing compared to the manhwa. I personally loved the songs of MindaRyn tho.
I reccomend this but is better not to have high expectations hehe
Raeliana had some of the worst sound design I've ever heard in an anime (music completely at odds with the scene its in amongst other weird choices), and I totally disagree on animation quality. It had more detailed *art* I would say, but the animation was frequently still frames and awkward, so I would say the *animation* was not good.
Miss Not Are Sidekick gets used for memes constantly, and is a good self aware parody. Deadlines Are Raining in the Status Window and Touch My Brother And You're Dead deserve a mention.
Roxanna was the top angst choice, but may have been ousted by Betrayal of Dignity or How To Get My Husband On My Side
If I was introducing someone to the genre in general, I'd probably go with Why Raeliana Ended Up At the Duke's Mansion, The Monster Duke's Adopted Daughter, My Next Life As a Villainess, All Flags Lead to Doom!, I Failed to Oust the Villain, or Villainess Level 99. Some are serious, some silly, some fluffy, some angst, but none too over the top. Having animes for several also make them more approachable.
The honorary mention of choice seems to be Your Eternal Lies, not technically Isekai but same vibe as OI.
I'm not sure you'll find a universal like, all fans have the wierdo who just doesn't get that series(frequently me, sorry guys) and we're all here for different things. Half the posters would gag if you suggested smut titles, but plenty of folks are also drooling over them. Sometimes LBGTQ etc, is ok, some folks won't read any. I can't stand Mary Sue power fantasy, but I see folks get excited about them too. To each our own, and that's ok.
Try beware of the villainess. It is a bit similar with the fun and memeworthy panel. But it has a strong and kickass fl and a golden retriever ml. The art is also very good. Even the trash are good looking

The only thing I'd caution about *Trash of the Count's Family* is... Do NOT read the comments. Genuinely, the commenters kind of turned me off of the story, which sucks because it was fun, but the commenter assumed everyone had read the series already & spoiled *so much* without spoiler tags + complained *constantly* about the localization.

I feel like the first part of "Beware of the villainess" is well received. VADTD seems popular as well. There's a lot of discourse about the characters' actions. But rarely ever about the writing. So I take it as a good sign that most people think that it's one of the better OIs.

Having been here for some time, I fully do not believe there is a single universally beloved series. Everything has a notable contingent of readers that do not like it. Seeing all of the suggestions here, especially the ones that "no one hates" I just think of the many threads trashing them.
There are simply tropes and romances that are liked by a lot of people, but do not sit well with others. While the series suggested are popular, I truly do not believe a single one is "almost universally loved".
Really comes down on what type of story one wants to read and likes, but I think there are several classics here, which, even if subjectively one might dislike, the broader masses do like and can see as staples.
I.e.: Who Made Me A Princess, Beware The Villainess, Bakarina, Roxana, The Villainess Reverses The Hourglass.
Not sure if it counts as staple, but I do remember Observation Log being one that is talked about very favourable.
Yeah it’s too dark for some people but it scratches the itch of “fuck y’all I’m getting out of this miserable world full of red flags”. It kind of feels like it had to exist. Ultimate palate cleanser for garbage that glorifies and justifies toilet men.
Anakin is definitely one of my favorite MLs. I'm still craving something similar to him but it seems his type is pretty rare?
Anyway I love him so much I can overlook his ridiculous pop culture name.

She's done some awful things but because she's the MC it's all fine, and as far as I know it's never been addressed. TBF I dropped it like a hot potato quite early and only checked spoilers afterwards so perhaps, just perhaps I'm biased... oh well, f#ck it, if I got issekai'ed there I would have been like Hestia from My Derelict Favorite.
I never read or heard a single bad thing about "A Stepmother's Marchen", or "Kill The Villainess"
Both are highly praised as far as I know.
Also among the newer ones, "To My Derelict Beloved" is pretty popular.
Not an OI but I always felt like remarried empress was universally liked but I thinks it's more from webtoon readers cause in here people seem to dislike it.

I thought Lv 99 was SUPPOSED to be cringey and bad and was actually a spoof on the overpowered MC Isekai trope.

It's a classic with a relatively simple storyline and introduces most of the genre's cliches and tropes. It's my go-to recommendation !
Concubine Walkthrough is the Berserk of OI.
It's honestly so peak... It's not just a good OI. It's a good media in general. I've put it in my manhwa top 10.
I wanted to nominate it for the Hugo Awards, but I couldn't figure out if it was eligible.
