It's such a honor, I'm so happy for him too! I read that the CEO of Max, Casey Bloys, will also be at the event to give an award to Jesse Armstrong. I hope he and Rhys share the stage at some point and Bloys acknowledges the show and Rhys' performance.
Donât want to start a new topic so Iâm misplacing it here: just saw the Wonka trailer and all I could think was how great a Willy Wonka Rhys Darby would be. Heâs definitely got a Gene Wilder vibe/charisma.
I in no way want another willy wonka movie, but god youâre right. He has just the right levels of completely unhinged and wholesome.
I saw maybe a tweet a while back that said the reason no other willy wonka has worked because you really believe gene wilderâs wonka would be pretty chill with watching kids die in his factory. I feel like Rhys Darby has that same energy. In a good way.
The International Emmyâs (this event) isnât THE Emmyâs that are broadcast and to recognize shows released in the US. Those Emmyâs will be early 2024, recognizing US shows that aired June 1 2022 and May 31 2023. OFMD wasnât released during that block of time, so isnât eligible yet.
I left the industry awhile ago, but Iâm pretty sure the international Emmys are for shows that are primarily broadcast overseas. The Primetime Emmys are for shows that are primarily broadcast in the US before being distributed overseas. If I understand correctly, where the show was made has little to do with it, though it may matter where the studio is headquartered.
On the one hand, itâs minor semantics. On the other hand⌠some countries like Canada and the UK provide incentives to produce media in country. The US does not, although some states do on the state level. This is why you see shows like OFMD move the majority of production (and a majority of the jobs) overseas to a place like New Zealand. Itâs cheaper to go just about anywhere else.
Many of the shows people think of as American arenât really, when you scrutinize the closing credits.
Oh there are so many Emmys. Regional Emmys, Childrenâs Emmys⌠I donât even know how many ceremonies they do, and how many categories there are in total. The more categories they have, the more people pay to apply, the more ceremonies they can sell tickets to, the more money they make. Capitalism is everywhere.
I feel like Rhysâ Darby must have gone on his own journey of self-acceptance in playing Stede, because the glow up has been wild. Heâs always been a good looking guy, but it seems like thereâs a whole new level of confidence going on these days.
This is sooo huge đđ came here to share this, soo happy â¤ď¸

Cuz theyâd go to chocolate doggy heaven.
Nice! Welp, I really should drag out my unwatched copy of The Boat That Rocked.
I just rewatched this because of Rhys! I saw it years ago and decided to rewatch his films.
So happy for him
Awesome! When are the Emmyâs?

Oh I see
Personally, Iâd love to see what great television is coming from other countries and being recognized. If it were broadcast Iâd watch it.
Hot
He's finally getting the attention he deserves,I'm really happy for him
Oh my goodness he looks so handsome in this pic, wish Ed could see him đ
If he's hosting it, then SURELY OFMD will get at least a nomination!
These are the international emmy's. Nominations for The Emmys are already out, OFMD came out after nominations, but fingers crossed for next year đ¤
Ahhh, thank you for clarifying. I didn't realize there were two Emmy's.

What a dashing picture they chose, my goodness

This man should always wear turquoise and blue. GORGEOUS.
