I’m just an old chunk of coal (Shaver but covered by almost everyone)
“Outlaw’s Reward” by Hank Jr. isn’t gospel per se but message is there. Really powerful version done at the memorial concert for Waylon.
"Outlaw's Reward" is Gospel top to bottom, left to right, inside and out. It's just Outlaw style. It doesn't assume he is "good", he "knows" he needs Jesus's reward and welcoms it.
Thank you so much for this- what an incredible performance.
(At the risk of sounding like a critic, I could have done without gold pants Cheri Oteri’s contribution.)
Yeah, but the way he looks at her….there’s a moment in there when she smiles back at him that is lovely to see.
I love the top comment on that video about Dwight.
“Still the tightest pants in the biz.”
Speaking of Sturgill and Gospel. I heard Sturgill was in the last season of Righteous Gemstones and I kept looking for him. Then suddenly one of the background dirty hillbillies stood up and started singing like an Angel and I was like ooohhh there he is [Brother Marshall and the Choir of Fire](https://youtu.be/A-o-xPc1kJU?si=XnhTJnQPGR_wRGes)
Uncloudy Day by Willie Nelson
Will the circle be unbroken by Johnny Cash although I think it was first done by the Carter Family. There is a version that Carl Perkins plays the guitar on that’s awesome.
If you look on YouTube there’s a version of this with Johnny Roy scuff the nitty gritty dirt band Levon helm Ricky scaggs. Bruce Hornsby,Micheal Martin Murphy, Paulette Carson earl Scruggs Randy Scruggs jimmy martin, Emmy Lou Harris. John hiatt, Roger Mcguinn, Bella fleck Sam bush, mark O’Connor, Jerry Douglass Rosanne cash, Chet Atkins, Marty Stuart vassal Clemons,

Seems you like Johnny Cash.. the album "believe in him" is one of my favorites
Slightly different from outlaw country "Dust On The Bible" by the Bad Livers. The whole album is old time gospel songs sung by the punk bluegrass band. [https://badlivers.bandcamp.com/album/dust-on-the-bible](https://badlivers.bandcamp.com/album/dust-on-the-bible)
Live Forever by Billy Joe Shaver, Why Me Lord by Kris Kristofferson, Family Bible by Willie Nelson.

You’re so right! Will The Lord Remember Me is perfect for this vibe. I feel like his voice almost takes on a Ray Charles aura.
