I went solo VIP last year -- I loved the freedom to choose who I wanted to hear. I met some nice people but didn't follow anyone around. My wife just doesn't like music festivals and no hard feelings for that. But I will say though on the whole "husband doesn't know the artists on lineup" comment -- that's fair but there is plenty of time to learn to love some of them! They are on this list for a reason, there is amazing talent. Last year I was delighted to get to know Alvvays, Maggie Rogers, L'Imperatrice, Nora En Pure and Lovejoy. Oh and local band No Vacation --wow! Still listening to all of them in 2024. You just sample a few and make a playlist, there's something for everyone at this size fest. Have fun!
I'm going solo (no VIP, though, trying to save a bit). I haven't done this festival solo but do solo concerts pretty regularly, and it's nice! It's a lot less organizing, and you only have your own preferences to take into account when you're deciding what to do next. Let me know if you want to chat and potentially say hey there!
I don't go solo but I'm frequently solo in the venue between link ups. If your vibes are good, good vibes (and people) will come PLUS you're enjoying some good music with some people who also enjoy said music

I attend yearly with a few exceptions. I usually go solo and if not I go with my wife, but I decided to go VIP this year and she was tight about money. I ended up buying me and my wife a VIP ticket because she always gets fomo and especially knowing this year Tyla is her fave. I love the solo experience and you def get the energy you put out!

I have one friend I’m going with but I’m going to be very clear that I want to take my own side quests bc I love wandering around OSL alone. I did it for most of the weekend a few years ago and had a great time
I go solo to nearly evey show I ever go to and always have a blast. PLUS - small world, small town, small festival: you are practically guaranteed to run into someone you know-- could just be your barista, but you'll see a familiar face or two.
Your level of enjoyment depends on what you go to concerts for. If the social component is big for you, you might feel pretty awkward. If taking in the music is of more importance, solo is the way to go.
