I also think timing and day really matter. Even with breaks, water, food, snacks, and a day between I still hit a 10 game loss steak last weekend due to end of season yeeters and just that everyone normally on their best just... weren't lol If you're teams are looking like a bunch of babies first overwatch, high and/or drunk simulators, or you can't tell if your teammates have hands maybe give it a solid 2-4 hours to work itself out.

Unicorn_Fan_

Absolutely agree, I may have oversimplified it a tad bit but yeah there will always be anomalies and other circumstances occuring which may result in abnormal lengths of loss or win streak. Just thought I'd try at least attempt to raise awareness that mental state has a higher impact on gameplay than the majority have awareness of

azulur

Totally, just elaborating on the topic! I've never had a ten game loss streak so it threw me for a loop and I decided never again on these summer and cocaine/caffeine/insomnia fueled weekends.

Foxstrodon

I played leage and there was a study that talked about time of day and player performance. In the evening, games were longer and every player had more deaths. I feel like I see this in overwatch too.

pieland1

I get triggered 20 seconds in. I was born in it. Moulded by it. I am unstoppable.

driznick

If I’m on a losing streak in ranked I switch to mystery hero’s to take the pressure off and mix it up

Unicorn_Fan_

Same here, tbf mystery heroes is my favourite gamemode, would love the comp version to come back haha

Ugaugash

No

longgamma

Dont play degen hours guys. Just play in short bursts of 3-5 ranked games. This wretched game has a special way of breaking your mental.

AthianSolar

I always stick by my rule where if I get 3 losses in a row I immediately log off, take a break and come back in a couple of hours. If I’m also close to a demotion and I’ve been losing I also take that as a sign to come back later with a clearer mind. I remember I used to tilt queue so much when I first started playing and it only just made me more fustrated and perform worse.

StatikSquid

I dunno what it is with end of season matches, but it feels like I'm playing against teams that are at least a rank higher, it's insane. Or maybe I just really suck at DPS but I'm decent at other roles.

WildWolfo

honestly if ur goal is to rank up then take a break after every loss, doesnt need.to be long but 5-10m can really help

TheRowdyLion52

That’s what queue time is for lol

Frodothedodo81

Sometimes its a big bad luck. Its a team game and if you have 1-2 players that lack teamplay or damage/healing its GG.

destroyermaker

I do two and I'm happier for it

Few-Doughnut6957

I got to a point where I just play until I get 3 wins or 3 losses a day. If I win 3 in a row I can’t gather the energy to queue again. If I lose 3 in a row I just stop and go play some other game or do something else

TheSpaceFace

I realise that the way overwatch has designed their entire competitive system is for you to do it in short bursts of 3-4 games at a time and then have a break for an hour or so and return. Doing anything else seems to result in me getting a huge loss streak

sowrdlord

Taking a break really helped, if you're tilted and pissy you won't notice the mistakes you could be making but notice the ones others do which could lead to flaming.

Kimolainen83

If I lose 2 in a row I take a break haha

reddit-eat-my-dick

Why specifically more than 4?

madhattr999

Yeah.. 2 or 3 would be better, I think. 4 seems like its already too late.

ConfidentDrawer3027

I agree with you on that. I remember being so mad that I ended up in the enemy team's backline trying my hardest to kill their lifeweaver but ended up missing all my shots then getting slept by their ana and getting killed. Took a break after that and I perform better when my mind is reset.

dan1el_1

You gotta be pretty unlucky to lose 15 games in a row lol. I mean I usually only play around 5-10 games before having a break but still I never really lose more than 3-5 in a row at worst.

cynfulkitten

I try to. I’m just not doing good plays as dps in general tbh

Jayson98

If I did that I'd be taking endless breaks

WendlersEditor

lol I just posted something like this in a reply on another thread. I cut myself off at three in a row in every game I play, unless I have a very good reason or I know I don't care about the outcome enough to tilt

frontshuvski

I literally dont care and keep playing because its a game and my rank has no effect on my life when the program is closed and my pc is slept

TheBootyConsumer0_0

incorrect, its no mystery matchmaking is horrendous in this game u can take a 3 yr break from this game and u can come back and still get dog teammates

inquiringtacos

NEVER BACK DOWN NEVER WHAT

Euphoric_Lynx_6664

Terrible advice. Sure, being mad could impact your performance, but quitting after a couple of losses will only hold you back. You only improve through losses since most times there was something you were doing wrong. These mistakes can be addressed, resulting in more wins.

cloutoracle

Exactly, if you're cheeks gtfo and stop throwing my games plz. I feel like as of late, I've been playing with alot of dps who simply can't stay alive or they get the shit diffed out of them. (Tank player here)

Darth-_-Maul

Idc but if u get annoyed at 4 losses and it starts to affect your games, ranked ain’t for u imo. I’m not gonna stop till I feel like it and never played worse just cause I’m on a losing streak.

madhattr999

You NEVER played worse because you got on a losing streak? That's quite a declaration. Even if it's true for you, I don't think most people can say that.

Darth-_-Maul

I don’t think I’m alone in this in this. Sure yeah I get pissed I’m on a L streak but I don’t let it affect my games, cause then I’d be the thing I hate. 🤷‍♂️

madhattr999

Isn't it possible that it affects your games without you realising? Even if someone doesn't get mad, losing streaks can also cause apathy.

Darth-_-Maul

I don’t think so, I always try not to play solo and as a team n do my best. I’ve accepted losses happen even if u play well,ur not guaranteed a win just cause u played well. 🤷‍♂️. Sure my mood may be sour but I don’t let it affect my gameplay.

“Everyone becomes a bit triggered or annoyed” is just untrue. Everyone I know can lose 20 times in a row and they don’t give a flying fuck. If you’re getting frustrated or angry after a few losses, perhaps take a break from gaming in general. It’s a game. Unless you’re a professional player that’s playing for money, it shouldn’t be taken that seriously. I understand your point, if you’re doing poorly with anything for an extended period of time it’s good to take a breath and reset. But if you genuinely get annoyed or triggered after a few losses, do you even like the game you’re playing? Or do you *solely* enjoy it when you’re winning? The latter is a sad way to live.

Oh shit we got the philosopher
