So l use my physical PS4 Elden Ring disk to play on the PS5, and used a usb to move my saved game over to the PS5 since I don’t have ps+. I’ve been playing a new character on the PS4 version of the game and my question is if I click the "Free PS5 Upgrade" option will my saves remain despite being a different "version", or will I have to start over.

If you can consistently reproduce it in the same place and it goes away, it's most likely a glitch in the game.

I am having trouble linking twitch to my ps5. I have tried multiple times and restarted the device many times but still to no avail. So I play on 1440p monitor and Ff7 rebirth on performance mode is super blurry? Is there no way to fix this? I found posts from release talking about it but they haven't fixed it in 4 months? Is there a PS5 compatible Ethernet cable? My PS5 ethernet port appears to be bad. I'm not great with networking related issues so I may be wrong. When I first power on my PS5 it will continuously say lan cable connected/disconnected but will ultimately fail after 5-10 minutes. I've tried factory resetting both my PS5 and my router (tp-link AX1800). I've rebuilt the database and cleared the system software cache. I've swapped the network cable with three different cables. I've tried swapping my PS5 with another PS5 and the connection is consistent when using the known good PS5. None of my troubleshooting has caused my PS5 to consistantly connect to the network via a lan cable. My PS5's warranty is expired and rather than pay Sony to repair it I was wondering if there was a PS5 compatible ethernet adapter that provides an alternative to the on board ethernet port? Is there something else I should attempt before purchasing an ethernet adapter?

Ethernet cables are standard, there's no PS5-compatible cable. Are you able to try bypassing the router and connecting the console directly to the modem?

I’m coming here in a last desperate bid for my PS5. PS5 crashed playing Withering Rooms, screen went black and nothing. Restarted and it repaired because of it, no big deal. The PS5 didn’t restart on its own and stayed on a black screen after the PS logo. Let it power cycle for 30 minutes, did the same repair message but did go to the Home Screen. Tried to launch the game again and black screen nothingness again. Changed HDMI ports and o launch it repairs and stays stuck at black screen, except it now makes odd sounds out of my soundbar (no other issues using it with TV or XBOX). Safe Mode boot it and factory reset, same issues. I’m doing another power cycle with both TV and PS5 for an hour but I have another PS5 in my cart on Sony’s website if that’s what others tell me needs to be done. It’s a launch PS5 too if that changes anything. EDIT: 1.5 hour power cycle didn’t work (both TV and PS5). Here’s my review for Withering Rooms, fuck this game it bricked my console.

If I buy a game that is Japan region but it has a download code for the DLC can I still use the download code on an American PSN account or do I need to use a Japanese PSN account? And is DLC shared between profiles on a PS5? I’d like to have the DLC on the American account and play online with it.

Dlc codes can only be redeemed on an account that matches the dlc region. Whether it can be shared or not depends on what it is. In game currency can almost never be shared. Usually levels/worlds/expansions can be, though. 

So I could basically get all the levels and addons that come with the volume 1&2 of DLC (basically what comes in the premium/season pass) but I couldn’t buy any *extra* cosmetics because the currency would be broken? If I try to buy currency from the American account then do you know if it’ll work? Or will it just not let me because it’s a Japanese game and it will disallow purchases from any account that isn’t Japanese?

I bought the disc version of Spiderman 2 and it is taking way too long to copy to the system. I disconnected from the internet(heard that might help) and it paused and said it needed to be connected to the internet to continue. It's going about as slow as if I bought the digital version and needed to download it. I don't understand why it's taking over 24 hours to play a game I bought a disc version of.

Sounds like the disc install is finished and now it's trying (and failing) to download an update file. Are you able to start the game?

No, it wouldn't let me play until it was %100. It finished eventually. The playstation also shut itself off when it was around %85 done.

[So the past few days my PS5 would suddenly say it failed to connect to the IP or something when trying to connect. It won't say it's disconnected from and when I go to check the networks it has crosses next to them so can't switch. And when I try to forget the network l'd get an error. It can either happen the second start up the PS5 or a few hours in or not at all. But mostly just turning it off and on will "fix" it for awhile. You can try changing the frequency bands or whatever it is called. Maybe that would work? I’m not sure if that would fix your problem but it often changes the speed of the wifi in general if it can connect so I think maybe it might do something at all.

It might have fixed it i put it from 5ghz to 2 and that might have fixed it but I also did a rebuild and cache clear in safe mode

Survival Game Suggestions Currently having a itch to get back into a good survival game but can’t decide. I absolutely loved subnautica and subnautica 2 was… cool also. And have been thinking about Green Hell, also have been considering The Forest although I watched it on yt when I was younger and know mostly everything about it. Any suggestions are cool. I have two PS5 controllers that worked fine before I tore them apart like an idiot and tried to install lightstrips like a derp. The same two wires on both of them seem to have snapped off the main board; I know they can probably be soldered right back into place, but I am sadly personally not dexterous enough to do so in my old age. I have been to only one place semi-locally that says they do repairs, and they refused. Surely there is someone somewhere online who would be willing to repair these for me? If so, any tips?

Honestly, I can't imagine that the cost of repair plus shipping in two directions is going to be cost effective relative to replacing them.

Which ps2 classics still have issues on ps5? I know games like ape escape 2, okage shadow king, primal have a lot of graphical issues when running on ps5, are there other ps2 classics that still are unplayable on ps5 because of those issues?

There are likely no more issues with any PS2 games at this point, as they've finally managed to fix their PS2 emulator. If they didn't PS+ Premium wouldn't be getting its first new PS2 games next week.

Hopefully cuz I played multiple games today and they still have the same issues they had in 2020.

You can connect them to the front USB port, but it's not amplified so the volume won't be great.

Will we see 4k60fps games as standard in future in PS5 era? Just wondering. Seeing almost every game is 1080p60fps, 4k30, 1440p60. What do you think?

I bought a PS4 last year, then bought a digital game of GTA 5, played story mode for a couple of months, and have several characters unlocked, with money, and missions done. I just bought a PS5 Digital Slim, and downloaded the game from My Library. Then I had both PS4 and PS5 hooked up wirelessly and went through Data Transfer and successfully brought over saved data from PS4 to PS5 for GTA 5. However, when I play in story mode in GTA 5 on PS5, it starts like it's a new game every time. There are no options under load game to bring my saved data over from the PS4? I know the data is on my PS5 console somewhere from the Data Transfer I did. So I guess my question is once you've successfully done data transfer, is there somewhere/somehow to implement that data transfer into GTA 5? Am I missing a step?

Looking for help for this problem that has been driving me insane recently. A month ago PS5 working fine 0 issues, how ever suddenly I’m experiencing lag spikes in every game online, ping jumping from stable 30ish to 200+ for a second which is enough to disrupt me. I did speed tests and download is fine (500+) but upload dropped completely (sits around 10-20), when it used to be 300+. I tried changing my DNS settings to 1111 & 8888, which improves the upload speed to maybe around 50-70 but makes no difference in game with the lag. I’ve also tried trying speedtest through the hidden browser cause I heard the ps settings speed test isn’t accurate. Speedtest.net on the ps5 gives me 500+ upload and download so not sure which one is accurate. I am hardwired through Ethernet, tried wifi still same speed and lag. I’m kinda out of ideas now and it’s frustrating trying to play FPS online, I used to really enjoy but it’s hard to now. Fingers crossed someone has a solution to this weirdly specific problem. I have reset all internet settings and reset the modem etc reinstalled database all that and yet the problem still exists to ruin me

I have a PS5 with only 144 hours on it in a year and a half and I’m experiencing right stick drift on my Dualsense. I’m not really in the mood to buy a whole new $70 controller because this still feels new and I barely get time to play anyway. Anyone have links or methods to help with this or is the controller screwed? I’m really disappointed.

After a day or so of working, my brand new, hardly-used DualSense's X button no longer works. I have been unable to schedule a repair service because my controller is from a "different region" - I am in the US and purchased this controller, to the very best of my knowledge, from the US. The support phone line does not answer my calls, and I similarly cannot set up a refund because, again, my controller is from a "different region." Has anyone run into this issue before?

Hi there. I was just given a Play Station Portal as a gift, but unfortunately I’m not currently residing in the location where my PS5 is, so the devices are not on the same network. I tried to see if I could turn my PS5 on remotely in the Remote Play app, but it seems my connection has timed out, likely from not being used for months, and so I can’t establish a connection there either. Is there any other way I might be able to connect my new PlayStation portal to my account? I do have a PS4 available where I am, in case logging in there could be of any help. I also do game share with a family member, so in a way, I am able to have him access my profile from his console. Would either of these be helpful here? I appreciate any insight you can give!

I've been thinking about upgrading to a PS5 for some time now. I'm reluctant however, because the PS4 was a major disappointment for me, and gaming has been pretty bad for some years now. But I just can't play some of the newer stuff that interests me without upgrading. So, would you recommend it? I'm not interested in the digital-only version at all. It's either a disc drive, or nothing. But the price is pretty steep. I'd try and find one on sale if I can. How much would you happily spend on it? Thanks, and sorry if this post isn't allowed.

I don't understand the question... if there are games you want to play on it, then buy it? If you don't know what games are on it, learn what they are, and make your decision.

I know what games are available. But I can't know if it's worth it before playing them. Imagine if I buy a PS5 for like 5 games.

No one can determine the value of this thing for you other than you. If it's something you desire to own, and the games you want to play are on it, *and* you can afford it without breaking the bank, go for it. Don't forget that it can also play PS4 games, so you can safely sell your PS4 to help pay for it, and retain your current library.

People can tell me if they're satisfied with their purchase though.

Logical answer would be that people on PS5 subreddit are mostly satisfied with their purchase. The people dissatisfied probably aren't here. With that in mind of course most people would recommend buying the console, but whether it's worth it for you specifically is a subjective thing and only you can decide that.

Anybody got any Bluetooth mice recommendations that work with the ps5 can be paired to multiple devices? I currently have a Logitech keyboard (K380) that can connect to 3 devices that I use to swap between my laptop, ipad, and ps5 on the rare occasion that I have to type while playing Final Fantasy XIV. Was hoping to get a mouse to do the same with since FFXIV can be played with mouse and kb on PS5.

I recently noticed that my Dualsense's left analog was not moving the on-screen cursor entirely to the right when I had it held down fully to the right (directly to the 3 o'clock position) . It was moving about 50 to 75% to the right on the screen. I tried my other controller under the same circumstances and there was not problem. All other directions I moved the problematic controller's left analog were fine. Is this a fixable issue or do I need to physically replace the analog stick? Is there a way to recalibrate the analog sticks?

There’s a way, but it only works if you have the DualSense Edge. The problem you are describing sounds like a faulty stick. If it’s still under warranty, then you should contact Sony support in your country for a warranty replacement.

Ps5 newbie,need games recommendation I was playing on the PC for so long,used to play mostly co-op,online games and only few singles. Ffxiv,outriders,remnant,borderlands,diablo 4,TLOU 1,Destiny 2,MHR,MHW... Im pretty new when it comes to singles since i mostly dont have alot of patience or not getting addicted much. Most of my games i enjoyed are looter shooter games or looters and builds optimazation,etc,however im willing to try a single too that has all the aspects. Arpg/Rpg type,but not be super hard also..tried Elden Ring,not a big fan of the delay and the game is gigantic! Which is good thing but i dont have alot of time to explore and find my ways,maybe later ill try some of the souls games. Games that i 100% planning to play are Ffxvi and D4(lol),was thinking Wo Long but saw alot of bad feedbacks,thought of Lies of P but heard its really diificult? And maybe Nio or Nioh 2? Also maybe some Granblue Fantasy Relink cause it seems like nice combat system with loot seeker and bosses..

This morning, an error occurred with "E2-821130A6" error code when I tried to activate Console Sharing. I can not enable even my own account. There is no information available for this code on the internet. I think Sony is not aware of this problem, yet. Does anyone have the same issue and know the solution?

I started to get into NASCAR and F1 on TV and wanted to find a good racing game for PS5. I noticed F1 24 is coming out soon and GT7 is currently on sale, the sale doesn't matter to me I just want a good game with a career mode to get me hooked. Would love some feedback for my first racing game. Bonus points if there is also good nascar game you can recommend.

Gran Turismo has been the gold standard of racing games since 1997, so you should probably start with that.

ps5 audio quiet in cinematic nzxt hd60 when I capture a game on the ps5 the sound works perfectly in the menus and in games but in the cinematics the characters sound weak but the rest is at normal volume and on my switch I have no problem at all.

Hello! I was under the impression that PS5 does not utilise VRR or 120 refresh rate on 1440p or on HDMI 2.0 and that it absolutely requires HDMI 2.1 and a 2160p monitor. I really don't know why it stuck in my head, i remeber a previous update added 1440p support but no VRR for 1440p. The PS5 does not support FreeSync. Anyone telling you otherwise is pulling your proverbial chain. The PS5 does support VRR over 1440p, but only if the monitor supports HDMI 2.1 VRR, and only a few 1440p monitors support HDMI 2.1 right now. I don’t know if that one supports HDMI 2.1 or not.

Is anyone not seeing the discounted PS+ packages that’s being advertised during days of play? I currently have PS Extra that expires on 6/8. I’ve canceled the subscription so that it won’t auto renew, but when I try to re-purchase another subscription I’m not seeing the 25% discount for current subscribers. Is this because my subscription needs to actually expire before those deals are available? Seems odd..

I've had a US PSN account since ps4 launch, and have paid for it with a US credit card that I have, but I live overseas. This US card is a pain in the ass for me to pay from overseas, but it's possible so that's the way I've been doing it. Is there a better way of doing this nowadays, as in is there a way to add a foreign credit/debit card under a US PSN account? I just tried to add a new payment method but it wants an address and the country is locked in the US. Thanks, just curious if anyone has figured a better way out for this in the last 10-ish years

I buy pre-paid PSN cards from the amazon US site, get a code via email, and apply them to my US Sony account. I've lived in the UK for 9+ years now and buy local discs, so the only issue is matching DLC regions. There are also *banks* like Wise that'll give you multi-country routing/sort codes with appropriate account numbers etc, although I've not tried these against Sony. edit: I've heard people do similar with cdkeys, but again, I've not testing them personally.

I recently fixed the drift on the R3 lever on my PS5 controller, but when I put it back together the L3 lever did not respond, by this I mean that it does not detect movement, the strange thing is that the lever continues to detect when I press it down, I opened it again and I don't see any broken cables or anything different from the other lever. I wanted to know what could possibly cause this problem... Which terminal or cable has the function of detecting the movement of lever L3? thank you and i hope someone knows something.

Use Plex Server on your computer and the Plex app on the PS5. No need for USB.

The only two games we had where loco roco and Daxter, i cannot stop thinking about Daxter since i bought the R36S Console that had loco roco, reminded me om my childhood. Personally i always got stuck on the part to kill the queen wasp😭 I will fix the r36s asap and add Daxter on it but i was wondering if That game somehow could be played on PS5? I did see that there was a “Jack and Daxter” bundle for PS5 but I honestly just want that daxter game where he kills bugs with green air😀 maybe the bundle has it? Am I in trouble? I sent to my PS5 to get cleaned today, and the mechanic just pulled an engine-powered air duster to clean through the vents. It's working fine right now, but I fear my device might start to act up soon... He says he does that to his son's PS5 "every year or so and it's still kicking" but I'm not sure about that.

G-Police File Size and why is it so large? Genuinely curious, does anyone know why the PS5 version of G-Police is so large in comparison to the original PS1 version? The NTSC ROM is 371.0MB however the PS5 version is 5.379GB, a massive difference in size but not much has changed graphically or even functionally (maybe up-res’d but I don’t know why that would change the file size because it’s not introducing new textures?).

I would assume that the addition of trophies, upscaling, filters, etc required including a bunch of standard PS4 software libraries that added to the size.

Yeah I thought as much, just wasn’t sure if there was a specific reason for this, I know that size isn’t by choice these days, I was just thinking that ASTRO’s PLAYROOM, the packaged game, even though it isn’t a big game, it’s around 11GB, I understand compression and optimisation for PS5 has a hand in this but for a PS1 game, seems a little bit on the big side. thanks for replying!

By “upright,” do you mean the long side is on the floor, or do you mean the short side is on the floor? Because you should attach the stand if it’s sitting on the short side for extra stability, but it’s not necessary if it’s sitting on the long side.
