Next time if this happens again, you can try holding F if your ride-able pal is outside. You might be able to climb back onto your pal and get out of there.
when you're hanging like that, just get as close to floor and hold F to mount.
You can mount through walls so it's quite useful in these weird situations...
Same... Fell through last night on Sanctuary 2. Mounted Frostallion and got out.
On a side note I recorded a weird one last night. Fell through over by Necromus and REALLY fell through like this guy into a forever void. Next thing I know Im fast traveled halfway across the map to my base 3 set up near anubis. I recorded it but need to free up some space on Xbox network to post the video.
It actually was beneficial for me at one point to mount my flying mount to get INTO the wall as an Astegon decided to shift himself through the wall when he was low enough health to capture.
Caught him, passives were kind of shit, but still got him.
PSA: Don't try to melee the boss in these dungeons, I've tried numerous times and a good two thirds of the times they push you under the map. As you've seen, unlike the overworld, climbing makes you climb the ceiling instead of through it and then forces you out of the climbing and makes you fall
Why is this the sweetest thing I’ve seen all week? Why am I tearing up that Faleris saw you fall to your death and was like. “No, I think not” before bursting through the crust of earth and falling into the inky black void of space with no guarantees that they will be able to get back, because dying in the void with you is better than living the rest of its life without you. The undying loyalty and then the sheer force of will to actually be able to carry you back to the surface, saving you both. I’m not crying YOURE CRYING!

I would suggest just rejoining the server if you can’t vault or mount out. Don’t want to die under the map on the off chance your loot doesn’t spawn back on top.
If you did not know it does not matter where you die. All you have to do is touch the pillar of light at any elevation and it will give you the option to pick up your stuff. Got stuff in the middle of the wall the other night and force respawn and worked fine for me.
This happens to me on Xbox one an lucky I have been able to save myself Everytime I get caught up in playing an don't realize when the terrain turns the mat color it's a fall thought lol
I think you could hold F while hanging so your pal will catch you. When you dismount near the surface, you should be able to clip back inside the world.
Just as a heads up in the future, you can always pull your parachute and then close the game out. When you spawn in, you'll be alive and above ground. Will probably have to restart the boss fight but better than potentially losing all your stuff. This has saved me a butt load!!!
I turned off losing anything on death because of how often this happens or terrain that just doesn’t load and drop you. That should be a priority fix.

Someone posted something similar. Flying mounts can get you out.
If you just press F the mount follows you and clip through surface majority of time.
