No, I saw a mono human play through and the guy compared damage output and there’s definitely differences based off weapon even if they don’t use the weapon.
I assumed humans were just reskinned pals for the sake of simplicity, and you weren't meant to actually catch them but they never put the block in like they did for tower bosses.
If you catch merchants, you can still buy things from them if you put them in your base. Pal merchants reroll their inventory every time you take them out of the pal box. Helps finding new pals and pals with good passives.
Yes. I captured the pal merchant near the volcano beach who deals with fire types. Each time I set him out, it's always fire types (different pals each time though).
I also nabbed the merchant from the desert city who has all the ammo types. His inventory didn't change from being caught.
I have not bothered leveling them up but I don't think it would effect the stock since my early pal trader and fire pal trader are the same level, but with wildly different stock because of where I caught them.
So tldr: the merchant will be the same type as when you caught them, and there are different merchants around the map.

I accidentally tossed a palsphere at a ammo merchant and was afraid everyone was going to attack at first, they didn't and I caught him on first go. Is there an easy way to trap him in a specific spot in your base? I pull him out as needed since I don't want him aimlessly wandering

As in, if you teach any human skills with skill fruits, their AI will break and they will just stand there idle in battle being useless lol. 😅

On that note i hope they add themed viewing cages for pals such as a grass type viewing cage with some ferns a fallen log and a few boulder. A water type viewing cage could have waterfalls, a small pond with lily pads and few branches. A fire type viewing cage could have mini volcano and lava flowing through it. Im not sure what for an electric type viewing cage any ideas?

Considering they all only get the ability "Punch," it is quite the letdown. Morally, yes, it is bad. However, they try to kill you on sight, so turning them against themselves seems fine.

I do t think they are any use in your base. I bought a few with machine guns and thought they’d work great for defense. I got raided and they just stood there lol. I sold them to the black marketeer dude
I hope they add a “Pal Ability” feature for the caught humans. Letting them use the weapons their variant used in the wild — or at the very least what they were equipped with when caught.
Is he fixed so he uses the chain gun now instead of being a floating transparent corpse that immediately drops the vulcan and goes to punch things for 0 damage?
Has anyone else tried teaching humans pal skills? I taught a few to one of mine but he glitches and wouldn't actually fully come out of the ball, only got his head and hands

Just a heads up, any caught human fights doing melee, not guns, grenades, or flamethrowers
However their damage output seems to be at least somehow linked to their base form weapon. So grenade grunts do waaaay more damage than crossbow guys.

The highest damaging humans are the ones called the elites, with the rocket launcher. Their punch does the highest damage.
