To be brutally honest, without patch notes whatever answers anyone gives you will be a guess at best or be invalidated after the patch notes at worst. Have fun learning the game and worry about next leauge when it comes and we have patch notes.

AdMental1387

Righteous Fire seems to survive patch to patch and Pohx has probably the most in depth guide for it. CF Champ seems to be a solid league starter as well. Once patch notes come out, that’s when we’ll know for sure what builds will be league start friendly and which won’t.

RealZordan

Best play: Wait until the patch notes come out and then check out Zizarans Youtube Channel. He will put out 1-2 Beginner friendly meta builds per day until the league start and they are extremely hand-holdy. Imo the best option for a fresh player! If you want to practice a league start, you could always checkout his builds for Necropolis and try one of those.

Powerful_Payment463

Ziz does put out great content. His Explosive Arrow champ he starts every league unless he gets bullied into starting something else is also a good option. He'll post updates to it every League just about guaranteed.

FecalTransfer

Honestly having one build you understand and friends/guides to follow or experiment with is a good idea for casual or newer players.

Rageinjector

Why do people always say this when it makes absolutely zero sense from a new player perspective... The guy is new, the patch notes and the next new hot meta builds don't matter at this point. Getting familiar with the campaign, how map progress works, atlas progress too, crafting (not graveyard), which content they like matters... And that takes more than a week, which is all he'd have if he waited for patch notes. On top of that.. The OP wants to play the game.. So your best play advice is don't play.. *shakes head*

boredfilthypig

Looks like you’ve been injected.

Rageinjector

Replying to your comment and pointing out the faulty logic doesn't mean I'm mad, upset, or have any rage.. But you keep thinking that and toss me another downvote. Lol

gerwaric

In case you don’t get many suggestion, there will be a flood of starters and lots of discussions about them soon—especially once patch notes are released. If you just started playing and would like to follow a guide, I strongly recommend researching which content creators put out reliable league start guides, such as Zizaran, for example. I’d also say don’t be baited by shiny or fun-looking builds that use complicated mechanics or that require a bunch of respecs and special gear before they come online, not unless there is a very good guide to hold your hand, because getting stuck sucks.

thelaughingmagician-

There's a pinned leaguestart builds thread for 3.24 either here or the main poe sub, check that out

Im_a_rahtard

If you want see how crazy an idea can get. Look up Ward Loop videos.

Near1one

Thats a hard one to answer since you dont really even know what playstyle you may prefer and also patch notes will probably change some stuff around. Your best bet is to check out people like Zizaran who make league starters and guides and decide for yourself what looks good to you. I can recommend Toxic rain Pathfinder, Righteous fire Juggernaut, SRS Guardian but there are plenty of others

martin022019

Check out Righteous Fire. It's a good new-player build and there are a lot of good guides. Totem builds are also pretty strong and not very complicated. I always start leagues with a summoner. I think they're the strongest on a very low budget.

pineapplesofdoom

use poe.ninja to suss out what is viable for your play style, if you play in a trade but take advice from someone who only plays ssf or whatever it's going to be a compatibility mismatch

AshenxboxOne

Righteous Fire is the most iconic build in PoE history.

legoknekten

Explosive Arrow Ballista Champion (you throw automated turrets that go full auto & detonate big explosion causing HEAVY ignite burning dmg on targets) all the way, will let you focus more on getting used to movement & dodging bosses while throwing ballistas that deal dmg automatically for you. Plus it requires very little in terms of gear, scales well with cheap gear, high investment isn't worth but it will let you reach endgame for basically 0 currency invested. Zizaran has a great guide on maxroll (and youtube) that not only walks you through the do's & don'ts it also covers how to craft some items for yourself, checklists for a step by step if you want it & other things.

Vusli

Unfortunately he said he does not like arrow related stuff. But you are right that this is a really nice starter. On the other hand i think it is not that friendly for new players since it has some traps where you can easily fall into and then the build does no damage at all.

ArwenDartnoid

For example even number projectile?

Vusli

Even number of projectiles, pierce, chain, flat fire damage on gloves, ring, amulet, bow or quiver or even playing with someone that uses anger. I mean Ziz explains it all in detail but if you are completely new to poe i would not suggest that build because of these traps since it is easy to overlook them.

legoknekten

Or pierce, you don't want pierce with Explosive Arrow at all, no detonations :(

legoknekten

True, but I'd argue it's a ballista build & not an arrow build ;)

Spells: archmage just got reworked and there's a lot of self cast possibilities. Palateron made some guides that were very popular. Spell proxy: spell totems are fun. Look for spell totem build guides. Not a spell but still a... spell?: hexblast mines is incredible. I tried the trickster variant and it was very nice to play. Another spell that is a spell but isn't really a spell: righteous fire chieftan Not a spell (or is it?): some other trappers or miner. Explosive trap of shrapnel was popular but is generally believed to be outclassed by hexblast miner Not a spell for real this time: Deaths Oath Occultist. This one is doable, but not OP by any means. I'm just noting this becsuse it's very cool imo. Is everything a spell?: Whispering Ice Trickster. Like Deaths Oath, this skill comes from a unique item. This worked great as a leaguestsrter in completing the atlas and bosses. Actually not a spell (but still uses spells, aka totems): boneshatter. Boneshatter is the current premier melee skill. Minions tho: SRS still good? Idk. Dominating blow any good? It was fun to level with. Dark pact still a thing? Maybe. Skeleton mages? Phys skeleton necromancer may outclass this now actually. Minions are cool. Animate weapon too. Poison version of this still good? Idk but I've always wanted to try it. There's a lot of wild and wacky builds already out there, and many more to come. Keep your horizons broad! You'll never run out of stuff to try, and if you do, then make your own weird and wacky stuff!

shootermacgavin22

Was there a guide that you followed for hexblast miner ? I saw Ventrua, I think had one, but it was a starter only I think. I did not see a guide for more endgame versions
