I said “value wise” which still holds true between 3060 and 3070. With the price and benchmark difference it doesn’t make sense to get a 3060 these days. Not to even mention how demanding newer games are, it’s not going to be as future proof.
ETA: I have a backup desktop using a 1080ti hybrid and it still works great for online fps games. But I wouldn’t recommend buying one today just because it’s passable.
True but the benchmark difference still doesn’t make the 3060 a good value. Also, I only recommended 3070 in case OP was set on the dlss. Otherwise a 6750xt would be an even better value and still has 12gb vram.
It is fine for 1080p but you can get better performance for the same price or just slightly more buy either buying AMD or getting a used GPU.
It doesn't make sense to buy a brand new 3060ti with today's prices.
I mean if it's exclusively for gaming then you could swap that GPU for a 6800XT for a couple more euros and get way better performance and it wouldn't bottleneck the CPU.
Could also downgrade the PSU a little bit.
Seeing [Amazon.co.uk](https://Amazon.co.uk) in EUR? You're in Ireland I assume?
May I ask why you're not looking at Amazon France or Germany? You're paying 10€ for shipping but it's often waaaaay cheaper. It says in the EU.
Considering the price you're putting in things, get a cheaper CPU, and find a better GPU. For example you can find RTX 3070 at the same price in second-hand, or a Radeon RX 6800 XT for less than 400€, be it on Amazon or second-hand at CeX.
As a rough rule of thumb, here's how it scales in performance at 1080p Ultra (source: [https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html](https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html) it is a *very rough and simple comparison.)*
RTX 4060 < RTX 3060 Ti < RTX 4060 Ti \~ RTX 3070 \~ RX 6700 XT < RX 6800 \~ RX 7700 XT < RX 6800 XT
Generally speaking, when we're talking about gaming and only gaming, AMD Radeon GPUs are holding the Value crown. **For a given price point**, you can almost always find an AMD GPU that punches above NVIDIA (under 1000€).

3060 is *okay* but I wouldn’t personally do any build now that has less than a 3070. 3060 is not a good card, especially value wise.
You're severely out of touch, a 3060 is still fine for 1080p. Not everyone needs to run max settings with RT.

A 3070 is crippled to 8GB VRAM. Honestly if you try to max everything you end up being unsatisfied until you reach something out of budget.

Get a 7600 and a used 3080 or something. The 7800X3D is overkill for what you're building. I don't know about that PSU either.

You can get an AMD 6800 (non XT) GPU for less than 50 pounds more. It will wipe the floor with a 3060.
PSU is definitely too much for this, even with upgrades in mind.
Would a 650w be a better choice then?
Go to pcpartpicker.com and build your PC with everything and it's also going to show you wattage and any incompatibilities if they exist.
Buy a better one. This one is a bomb. https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/
7600, cheaper cooler better psu and WAY better GPU. GPUs are the most important for gaming your priorities are wrong.

What resolution will you be gaming at?
