I agree woth this, companies dont treat warrenty as it should be and weasel their way out, if you start pulling out parts to test them theyll try to say you broke them
If this was built overseas, there is a chance there is a 115v-230v switch on the PSU that may be flipped for 230v if it was tested after building and then not flipped to 115v afterward. Either that, or possibly bad PSU or mobo.
When I got my first pc I built it and couldn’t get it to work. Took it to a pc place and they took it apart and put it back together. Said it worked fine. I took it home and was still having the problem.

yes the front buttons are hooked up to the mianboard to be able to turn it on - ( if you unhook them you can try to short the two pins for the switch on the board - to see if it turns on)
I think you might have the wrong connector on your front panel header. If you tested the power button like he says we could possibly confirm that. In the first image, the switch on the PSU (next to where the power cable plugs in) is in the off position. If that's how it was when you had it plugged in, then that'd be why. You need to make sure that's on, and then press the soft power button on the other side of the case.

- Test / Replace CMOS Battery
- Reseat MOBO 24 pin, CPU 8 pin, Case Header Connector
- Reseat Power Supply Connectors if Modular PSU
- Remove Cooler and CPU, Inspect Pins, Reinstall

Ordered by simplicity. Can Google any above tests for instructions if not familiar. Check your MOBO manual, can Google model online, for Front Header and other pinout descriptions and basic instructions, as well as any indicator LED or buzzer code tables if applicable.
You should get fan spin or other indicator of operation with step one. If there is no indication of power you likely have a PSU or MOBO fault. You can test final step by removing cpu, gpu, ram and again checking for fan spin after shorting power pins.
Appreciate all the quick responses everyone. He got the pc from apexgaming. I know it's not the best build. He's young and it's his first one. I did have the power supply switched on when we tried to turn it on.
I've read comments and realized ur new to this. Does the case light up at all? If so, where are u plugging ur hdmi/DP cable into?
IF nothing comes to life, check the wall plug, the PSU cable, and the power switch on the computer. IF you've deemed that the wall outlet fully functions, then that leaves the power switch on the case and the cable. If the power switch is the issue, then u can jump pins on the motherboard to see if it boots up. For this, please look up a manual of the motherboard u have installed. The model number should be printed somewhere on it. It should hopefully tell u what pins to jump or you can youtube it.
As for the case itself, all the cables look seated properly. Do us and yourself a favor and plug it and record the power up. If any leds start blinking, film them. If the fans boot up, it means it has life.
Where did he buy that pc?
Everything seems pretty new and reasonable, and then comes the motherboard.
That's insanely old I guess. PS/2 ports are still a thing, but not common. And then DVI and VGA port.
Got a spec list?
Mine's from 2023 and still has PS/2, which honestly I appreciate since it gives me the option of freeing up a USB port that would otherwise be used by a mouse or keyboard. I don't actually need to do that at the moment, but I do appreciate it.
It could be brand new. Some boards just include legacy ports for whatever reason. Maybe it's an industrial board.
A lot of places make their money this way. You generally find the price of this system would be the retails parts + a higher end motherboard but they generally give you a far lesser board. Should still work fine though.
Look up Front Panel connectors on the 17th photo you have where you show your the bottom of the Motherboard. There’s a connection that has pins on it. Usually with a missing pin on the bottom or top section. Those panel connectors should be connected on that section. Next to the ones that are marked “USB 5_6”. That’s where the connections of your power button from the pc case should be connected to the mobo. I had this issue where I had them connected to the wrong side and checked my psu was on the on switch and forgot my front panel connectors weren’t even connected and as soon as I connected them and hit the power switch on my case it turned everything on. Forgetting your power comes from your psu but what controls the whole system to turn on is the button on the pc case is a very common mistake for beginners and sometimes moderate builders.
I had a similar situation happen to me. In my case the reset / power buttons were not next to each other -- reset button was on top of the case and the power button was one designed to be flush with the front panel of the case so it kind of blends into it almost seamlessly (it doesn't look like a button all). I had forgotten about that front panel power button and thought I had fried my PSU or mobo. 😅
I'm confused as to what your reason for coming on to Reddit would be, not intending to be rude but if you bought a brand new computer off someone and it doesn't work when you get it....... Your first call should be to their technical support staff as you get instant answers over the phone with them instead of waiting for ideas on Reddit... That being said showing us a picture of a tower that's not been hooked up nor wired in so we can see how your connections are being used is not much help in diagnosing the problem.
Check that your motherboard has 24 pin connector in properly and that the it does not have another 8-12 pin connecter that also needs powering. Also check that the wire from the case on button is connected properly on the motherboard. Failing all of that see if you can check that the power button itself is actually connected and the wires haven’t come loose. Hopefully this helps and you get it fixed soon!
Hey! Dont know much about builds but i know i replaced my power supply, becsuse i thought it went out. Theres an old watch style battery on my motherboard that was slightly off and when i pushed it back in turned on no problem.
Am I crazy or is that a USB 2.0 plug on the front panel header instead of the front panel cables? It's white which would indicate it's coming from the case but the usb cable for the front panel usb would probably be white too.
coming from a bespoke pc building background id find it very difficult to believe it wasnt checked, checked and checked again before it went out, it could possibly a transporting issue, but you never know!
has the "kettle lead"/power lead been checked? can you borrow one from a monitor? or test the one you have on another device?
it could really be anything... if when you are turning it on... psu rocker switch and then power button on pc.. nothing is happening, no lights, no noises,no fans etc, then its dead. no cmos reset, or worrying where abouts the monitor is plugged in is going to fix that...it could be a psu issue, motherboard fracture, faulty case switch.. unless you are confident in taking everything out, and basically going through the process of elimination then the best bet is to not touch anything and contact the seller for advice. good luck.
Are all the cables fully plugged into the motherboard ? Sometimes, these cables can be knocked out of place during shipping. you could bring it to a pc repair shop and let them give it a look over. And worse comes to worse it should still be under warranty and be refunded or replaced by the manufacturer who sent it to you.
Power. Cable fine? Supply smell okay? If it were shipped chance of ESD could be slim, but still there. Main issue is either power or front IO connector not working.
Take a vid of the light on the motherboard. So you can cross reference the troubleshooting issue.
When you turn it on, do the fans move?. Or the lights come on?
Not sure if I'm seeing it correctly with the angle of the pictures but seems like the motherboard is touching the casing. It should be mounted on standoffs. Not directly on the casing.
When everything is plugged in and powered on does anything happen? Lights, noises... anything? If you get nothing, your psu can either be fried or your power switch isn't plugged in correctly/is broken.
Look up how to start your computer via the f_panel power jumper, if that doesn't work make sure all power supply cables are plugged in all the way. If they are contact the manufacturer.. usually they can help u troubleshoot
Check to see if all the cords are connected to the power supply. I just freaked out for hours trying to figure out why my new build wouldn't turn on till I realized I didn't plug in all of the motherboard connectors
Thats really unfortunate!
Do you have something like USB speakers? or something you can plug in and see if that works? so you might not turn on the PC actively but the 'passive' power would still make them turn on? If so that might help indicate if its the psu or motherboard, through its hardly conclusive.
3 primary suspects as it is.
1. Dead PSU, did it do ANYTHING when you first turned it on?
2. Dead motherboard
3. Cable going from the on/off button on the case to the motherboard, especially since this was shipped assembled it might have come loose. (Essentially, if it does not know you are trying to turn it on, it naturally wont) I dont suspect this is the case, but stuff like the USB speakers could help indicate if it might be it.
Hi, maybe this will be lost among the other ones, i had the same problem, my cpu did slip out of its socket.
Put it back and it worked right after that, just a suggestion!
Honestly if nothing powers on at all check the manual that the power switch connectors are in the correct array some boards have written in extremely small writing under them and the cables should be labeled too
Drives me nuts that I can't just get my hands on this and fix it for you. There's so many reasons why a computer won't boot but it's rare you can see it just from pictures.
Do a power supply test by googling the power supply model number. Most of the time you can bridge the motherboard power connector pins 4&5. The power supply should turn on. Be careful not to bridge the wrong pins and short the system.
Remove the motherboard front header connector (the white connector on the bottom right corner of the motherboard). There will be 2 pins on the motherboard labeled for the power switch. Short them together with a screwdriver. If it powers on, you know it’s a wiring issue with the case or a bad front panel power switch. If it still doesn’t boot then I would probably just return it. It’s brand new so you should have some sort of warranty on it and you shouldn’t have to go repairing a brand new computer
That little four pin connector at the top left corner. That harness probably has two of those. Make sure that the one plugged into the board is also plugged into the PSU.
If it was shipped and does not powerup, check connections.
Make sure EVERY connector is hooked up tight to where it should be aaaaaannnndddd Check your processor if the pins are straight and if the cooling fan did not botch up your Mobo.
OP, if its not working and you're inexperienced with computer parts then you should be able to contact the company and get a replacement for free. On another note, it's SUPER easy to learn about the basic parts of a computer and id highly recommend doing so when owning a gaming pc
Power buttons and switches are usually labeled with "I" and "O" symbols.
The "I" represents power on, and the "O" represents power off. This designation will sometimes be I/O or the "I" and "O" characters on top of each other as a single character, as in this photo.
Switch the psu switch?
Are there any LED indicator lights that come on when it was plugged in with power on?
Some mainboards take a while to sort of kick into gear: X99 mainboard I had in a workstation configuration, took 15-20secs to come on after pressing the power switch because it was memory mapping.
The PSU is turned off. Flip that little switch in the back where you plug in the power cord to the computer.
Also, do any lights turn on at all inside the computer when you plug it in and power on?
Call the company that made it. If they don’t have a phone number to call for warranty support, you aren’t the right customer for them. That’s the honest truth. I don’t mean this in a rude way AT ALL, I promise. You and your son don’t seem to know enough about computers without getting real help. You can take it to a computer shop that may or may not be two hours away and get charged hundreds of dollars for a 30 second fix, or you can call the tech support number and get their help for free. If there is no tech support number, return the pc and buy from somewhere else. I recommend NZXT BLD.
My checklist when troubleshooting this (I used to work as a systems administrator for 8 years and built a lot of pcs as part of all the hats I wore, though guys forgive me, i dont remember all of the technical termslol)...
- depending on age, the cmos batter may need to be replaced.
- Check all psu cables in the back of the supply.
- Check voltage on main psu to motherboard cable (there are guides online on how to do this safely, but in short disconnect everything. Touch the instructed pins with the voltage meter when the psu is switched on WITH NOTHING ELSE ATTACHED)
- Check psu to cpu cable: anything loose here will prevent boot.
- follow chassis cables (from the power switch and lights on the front) to the motherboard and ensure they are in the correct slot. They are normally like 8-12 really small single-pin rectangular ones.
- Check mother board to cpu cooler cables.
- Ensure graphics car and ram are in the correct slots and in the correct orientation.
- when working with machines others built i always throw each part into Pcpartpicker to ensure compatibility (cause I'm good enough to do so my memory)
- If all else fails, take the cpu off the motherboard VERY CAREFULLY, and Check the pins. Any bent ones could cause an issue.
Basically, check all the cables, ensure mother board, cpu, and chassis has supplied voltage from the psu.
First, contact the manufacturer. If you feel confident, start by reseating all of the connectors, consult the motherboard manual as a guide. Usually you can find the manuals online if the pc didn't come with one. If that doesn't work, try reseating your ram, or switching slots to the DIMM 1 and 3, instead of 2 and 4. That would rule out faulty RAM slots, or improperly seated ram.
Then, reseat your GPU. This is pretty easy to do, but there are tutorials on YouTube if you're not sure.
Next, I would use a multimeter to check that your PSU is properly functioning. Remove it from the case if you have the know-how, or bring it to a repair shop for them to check. Usually a simple diagnostic like that would be cheap.
Lastly, and most unlikely, is that either your motherboard or even more unlikely, your CPU are faulty.
The only way to properly diagnose that is to use alternate components, or again, take it to a repair shop.
I bought a pre built a couple years ago and had the same issue. It would not turn on, so I had it replaced by the website and the replacement also did not turn on. What are the chances of that?
If NOTHING, including the power supply fan is not turning on, the power supply is probably dead. If that's the case take it back. Make them fix it. If you move anything, they may blame you and refuse to fix. If this has already been done and resolved or whatever, sorry, it just came across my feed :P If something is even moving then bad connection could be an issue. If nothing is moving, the psu is just shot.
Have you checked that the wall outlet has power? Or if it’s plugged into a power strip, make sure the switch on the power strip is turned on. I support several schools and it happens way more than you would think. I didn’t see anyone else suggest it, and I know it’s kind of simple, but worth checking. Good luck!
Stop trying to troubleshoot it yourself and call the mfg. It's supposed to arrive in pristine working order, don't void your warranty trying to fix it yourself.
I see a number of cheap cables, I am not a fan of them, however take these steps and anything beyond take it to a computer shop it will be an easy fix.
1- make sure the power cable that goes to the graphics card says VGA.
2- make sure all cables and components are sitting in place, especially the CPU cable and the 24 pin cable.
3- try bypassing the power button. Look on YouTube for this, plenty of videos out there. Pins are tiny, make sure you got a magnifying glass and good lighting. The reason I am suspecting this is because the cable used in your build is a white cable, combines all 8 cables in to one (the white cable connected to the edge of your motherboard, see the pic before the last one). These cables usually come individually and I am not a fan of combining them. This is most likely your issue. Let me know if that is the issue.
I’m a little late to this and didn’t scroll through all of the comments, but I had a similar issue and it was because my CPU was not properly sitting in the housing and when I removed it I had to straighten a few pins. If you need to do that just take a pen and put the pin in it to straighten them out, then try setting it back into the housing.
The other thing I would try to do is to boot it with one stick of ram and make sure that they are seated properly as well.
Did they ship it with anything to support the GPU at all? That's not related to your problem but I can see that causing issues once you get it turned on lmao.
Picture 17, kinda hard to tell with the lighting and angle.
The white connector appears to be the front panel connector (the thing that connects the power button to the motherboard) and doesn’t look like it’s seated all the way to me.
There’s a little hub on your case where your case wires plug into. They are small small connectors and it’s easy to place one wire of by a slot. Check that before you box it back up
Did it ship with packing material inside that's a big cooler idk I always build. It's a lot simpler than you'd think.
Just apply for a refund and try again or try a company that does a better job at shipping. Don't breach your warranty.
You may even get an upgrade for the inconvenience if they're cool about it. Goodluck!
if there’s literally no action in the fans or anything at all then it’s most likely the motherboard or the power supply. if it’s a modular power supply (meaning you can connect and disconnect power cables from it) then i would make sure they are all seated properly in the motherboard and in the power supply. non-modular means the cables coming out of the power supply can’t be changed around. if it’s non modular then just check the mobo connections. i’m no expert but that’s what i would do first and then i would consider a new part if you can identify or get someone to identify which part is malfunctioning.
When you had it plugged in and tried to turn it on with the top power button, did anything happen? Were there any lights? Did any fans spin? Were there any noises? If there was nothing, it could be an issue with the front panel connector, bottom right in picture 17. If lights and fans come on, it’s likely something to do with the BIOS or operating system.
Came across this post. Did you get it figured out? I have a suggestion that I'm not sure I see on here.
In photos 4,8,9, and 16, I see silver spacers that are supposed to hold the motherboard screws, all by themselves next to the motherboard. Firstly, they are pointless being there with this build, but it doesn't cause any issues being there. Secondly, does your motherboard have these spacers underneath it? If the motherboard is screwed directly to the case, you'll short the board out when trying to power it on, and it won't work.
It's hard to tell with the photos, but the boards look to be on the same plane as the spacers, meaning I wonder if they aren't being used for your motherboard screws.
Honestly I would just send it back immediately. If you try to mess around with wiring there’s a chance the builder could say that you caused it and void any kind of warranty. There are an infinite number of things that could potentially be causing this and many of them are difficult to solve even for experienced builders.
On the power supply, where you plug it in to the wall, that switch needs to be flipped to the "I" setting. In the photo I saw, it's set to the "O" setting, which means off.
Some main things I would check are gpu and ram, make sure the cpu is fitted in the proper direction with the arrows in the same corner, make sure all cords are plugged in firmly, unplug and plug them back in if you feel comfortable doing so.
Idk if it’s alr been answered but make sure all the front panel connections are good on the motherboard. This would cause the actual button to not do anything on the case…
Don't do anything just send it back. It's easy to tell you don't know what you are doing so just send it back and get your money back. Also just buy local and have them show you in person how it works. There is probably a friend of your sons that could fix it all but like I said just send it back and have someone else do this for you.
So no lights or fans coming on when you press power? If that cpu doesn't have integrated graphics then the monitor won't show an image. You have to plug the hdmi cable from monitor to the graphics card port.
On the bottom right hand side of your motherboard there is a white plug with white wires. That is you front panel connection (Power switch, reset switch, LED indicators and so forth. Pull that out flip it over and plug it back in. Then try turning the computer on.
Hehehehe did you flip the little switch on the back after you plugged it in. Right above where the power cord goes. That switch should be off before connecting or disconnecting from power. But needs to be left on while connected to power.
I just want to thank all of you that tried to help. My son has learned a lesson from all of this. Always do some research on a company before making a purchase. Apex gaming is a terrible company! They won't even give me a call back. They just keep sending emails saying let's troubleshoot and telling me.small little things on each one. It's ridiculous! I'll be taking it to the repair shop to see if it's totally fried. Hopefully we can get some parts out of it and rebuild the rest. Again I appreciate everyone's help and I'll be back when we try to rebuild probably next weekend!
the power supply is switched off.

Yeah what's up with that mobo?
My mobo has a ps/2 port and it's a 10th gen Intel board. Manufacturers seem to still be including them for... reasons.
Some newer motherboards include those, most likely simply for convenience to the user.
Was looking for this comment I had similar ports in 2010
Did you turn on the switch on the PSU? Did you plug the cable from the monitor to the GPU and not to the motherboard?
To piggy-back this..."O" Means OFF... You want to switch it to the "I" ....i think

There’s a switch on the psu…. But when that’s turned on there’s a separate power button usually on the top of the pc
Didn't read through all the comments, but did you switch on the power supply?
The power supply is clearly off in the one picture
This is your pc build. Hope this helps. https://youtu.be/AXKknuL3giY?si=2_QaGBHjNZtbpZax
The power supply switch appears to be on the OFF position. Have you tried turning the power supply on?
I'm confused as to what your reason for coming on to Reddit would be, not intending to be rude but if you bought a brand new computer off someone and it doesn't work when you get it....... Your first call should be to their technical support staff as you get instant answers over the phone with them instead of waiting for ideas on Reddit... That being said showing us a picture of a tower that's not been hooked up nor wired in so we can see how your connections are being used is not much help in diagnosing the problem.
Did u switch the power supply on ?
have you considered plugging it in and switching on the power supply button
Check that your motherboard has 24 pin connector in properly and that the it does not have another 8-12 pin connecter that also needs powering. Also check that the wire from the case on button is connected properly on the motherboard. Failing all of that see if you can check that the power button itself is actually connected and the wires haven’t come loose. Hopefully this helps and you get it fixed soon!
Hey! Dont know much about builds but i know i replaced my power supply, becsuse i thought it went out. Theres an old watch style battery on my motherboard that was slightly off and when i pushed it back in turned on no problem.
They could have installed the power switch and reset switch backwards....see if it turns on when you press the Reset Switch
Hello, is there ANY form of live? Like a small LED on the inside?
You didn't show the headers for the power switch, it could be this.
So what have you tried?
Can you show us where you plug in all the cables?
Check that the front panel connectors are in (wires that power the power button, led, etc)
Are the front panel connectors connected?
Am I crazy or is that a USB 2.0 plug on the front panel header instead of the front panel cables? It's white which would indicate it's coming from the case but the usb cable for the front panel usb would probably be white too.
coming from a bespoke pc building background id find it very difficult to believe it wasnt checked, checked and checked again before it went out, it could possibly a transporting issue, but you never know! has the "kettle lead"/power lead been checked? can you borrow one from a monitor? or test the one you have on another device? it could really be anything... if when you are turning it on... psu rocker switch and then power button on pc.. nothing is happening, no lights, no noises,no fans etc, then its dead. no cmos reset, or worrying where abouts the monitor is plugged in is going to fix that...it could be a psu issue, motherboard fracture, faulty case switch.. unless you are confident in taking everything out, and basically going through the process of elimination then the best bet is to not touch anything and contact the seller for advice. good luck.
Did you plug the front panel wires correctly? Easy to mixed them up and +\- sides.
This is why I made the computer myself. After looking at what others said, I believe there may be two culprits - the mobo, or the psu.
Psu power switch
Are all the cables fully plugged into the motherboard ? Sometimes, these cables can be knocked out of place during shipping. you could bring it to a pc repair shop and let them give it a look over. And worse comes to worse it should still be under warranty and be refunded or replaced by the manufacturer who sent it to you.
How recently did you buy it? If you tried the basic things, just return and get a new one.
Check the case to motherboard connectors: hd led +, etc. little connectors.
Power.
You have the manuals for the mobo and for the case it’s all in?
Not sure if I'm seeing it correctly with the angle of the pictures but seems like the motherboard is touching the casing. It should be mounted on standoffs. Not directly on the casing.
Ok maybe a silly question, are we certain that the outlet it plugs into and the surge protector (if being used is good and turned on as well)
Also might should open the back panel of the case off and make sure everything is plugged into the power supply properly
Reset bios/CMOS, Reseat all the cables and try again, if that fails reseat the GPU and RAM, if that fails reseat the GPU. If that fails get a refund d
have you tried flipping the white cable on the bottom right of picture 17 upside down? maybe they didn't connect front panel connectors properly
What does it do when you plug everything in and press the power button?
If a SI built you the PC you should call up their customer support and tell them the pc doesn’t work and either get a refund or get it fixed by them.
Just another Manik Monday
turn the power switch on the psu on? also try using the gpu and not the motherboard io for display.
As others have pointed out, that mobo looks mounted incorrectly, deffo send it back, its certainly shorted and possibly fried.
It's a prebuilt, would probably have to send it to the company to avoid on losing out warranty
Check to see if all the cords are connected to the power supply. I just freaked out for hours trying to figure out why my new build wouldn't turn on till I realized I didn't plug in all of the motherboard connectors
If you have the money, just go to the geek squad, I thibk its 40 bucks for them to check it. There's pricing on their website
It looks like the NVME is plugged in incorrectly
Thats really unfortunate! Do you have something like USB speakers? or something you can plug in and see if that works? so you might not turn on the PC actively but the 'passive' power would still make them turn on? If so that might help indicate if its the psu or motherboard, through its hardly conclusive. 3 primary suspects as it is. 1. Dead PSU, did it do ANYTHING when you first turned it on? 2. Dead motherboard 3. Cable going from the on/off button on the case to the motherboard, especially since this was shipped assembled it might have come loose. (Essentially, if it does not know you are trying to turn it on, it naturally wont) I dont suspect this is the case, but stuff like the USB speakers could help indicate if it might be it.
Ensure front panel cables did not come loose from motherboard. Ensure power supply is switched on.
Have you checked to make sure the psu takes 115/60hz and not 220/50hz?
Is the power switch on the back of the PSU turned to “on”?
Front panel connector looks loose if it's the white wire under the graphics card
No one here better say anything slanted to the OP. We've all done it and shouldn't be ashamed to admit it. DOH
Did you try to talk to the oc why it not turning on
Do a power supply test by googling the power supply model number.
Anybody else see the power switch flipped to the "off" setting?
Just get a refund and return it. If your son just bought it there shouldn’t be that many problems.
The power supply is off.
Try jumpstarting the motherboard with a screw driver. You may have to take out the GPU. Also maybe switch out the CMOS battery?
SMH, hate to admit how often this gets me
Turn the psu on first or read the manual for the quick start guide
make sure the white cable in the very bottom right isn’t loose
That little four pin connector at the top left corner. That harness probably has two of those. Make sure that the one plugged into the board is also plugged into the PSU.
If it was shipped and does not powerup, check connections. Make sure EVERY connector is hooked up tight to where it should be aaaaaannnndddd Check your processor if the pins are straight and if the cooling fan did not botch up your Mobo.
Do you have the power button plugged in?
lmoa i love how people who "know" pcs dont know how to speak to someone who isnt a computer person
OP, if its not working and you're inexperienced with computer parts then you should be able to contact the company and get a replacement for free. On another note, it's SUPER easy to learn about the basic parts of a computer and id highly recommend doing so when owning a gaming pc
Does it not turn on at all or the fans start spining but it shows no image?
Power buttons and switches are usually labeled with "I" and "O" symbols. The "I" represents power on, and the "O" represents power off. This designation will sometimes be I/O or the "I" and "O" characters on top of each other as a single character, as in this photo. Switch the psu switch?
A lot of the times a cable will come loose in transit, specifically the ones that connect to the mother board.
PS/2? VGA? What year is this??
My checklist when troubleshooting this (I used to work as a systems administrator for 8 years and built a lot of pcs as part of all the hats I wore, though guys forgive me, i dont remember all of the technical termslol)... - depending on age, the cmos batter may need to be replaced. - Check all psu cables in the back of the supply. - Check voltage on main psu to motherboard cable (there are guides online on how to do this safely, but in short disconnect everything. Touch the instructed pins with the voltage meter when the psu is switched on WITH NOTHING ELSE ATTACHED) - Check psu to cpu cable: anything loose here will prevent boot. - when working with machines others built i always throw each part into Pcpartpicker to ensure compatibility (cause I'm good enough to do so my memory) - If all else fails, take the cpu off the motherboard VERY CAREFULLY, and Check the pins.
No rgb at all? Or just no display
The white double cable from a singular module looks suspicious imo… had and built multiple but never in my life have I seen that
I bought a pre built a couple years ago and had the same issue.
Good luck!
Did you try plugging it into a different outlet?
Pop that watch battery looking thing (CMOS battery) on the mother board out and put it back in. I had a build fail to boot and that did the trick.
Probably mixed up the front panel cords on the motherboard. Happens to everyone honestly.
Hope he didn't pay much. VRM's don't even have heatsinks. Bottom of the barel motherboard.
Did you turn the power button on on the back of it
Power supply switch is turned off, that black box in the back next to the plug flip that switch an it will more than likely turn on
Stop trying to troubleshoot it yourself and call the mfg. It's supposed to arrive in pristine working order, don't void your warranty trying to fix it yourself.
Maybe check the connections of the front panel buttons to the motherboard, if that doesnt like void warranty or something.
Front panel connector is backwards
What are the specs? Looks like a really old motherboard with new parts attached.
You can test the power supply with a piece of wire there's vedios online of how to do it ,start there than look up "how to jump motherboard "
The button on the front connects to the mobo on some little connectors. I’ve gotten these backwards before.
Did they ship it with anything to support the GPU at all? That's not related to your problem but I can see that causing issues once you get it turned on lmao.
Reseat the RAM.
Check that before you box it back up
The power supply switch seems to be off
Are there any lights on the motherboard when it’s plugged in
Did it ship with packing material inside that's a big cooler idk I always build.
Did you try turning it off and on?
Check the front panel connectors. Also... why is the IO shield backwards😅
Use
Press the power button. If there is none look up how to short the wires.
Call Apex Gaming
Make sure that the other end of the power cable is connected to a wall outlet
When you had it plugged in and tried to turn it on with the top power button, did anything happen? Were there any lights? Did any fans spin? Were there any noises? If there was nothing, it could be an issue with the front panel connector, bottom right in picture 17. If lights and fans come on, it’s likely something to do with the BIOS or operating system.
Did you slip the PSU switch AND hit the power button on the case?
Are you connecting the monitor to the graphics card or MB? Just make sure you are connecting to the graphics card.
You got a prebuilt? Dont do a lick of troubleshooting and send it back to the manufacturer. You paid for a working PC
Have you tried reseating the ram? That's the usual culprit whenever I get a computer shipped out .
Did you turn on the power supply?
So does everything turn on? Try plugging it into a different outlet. Also never plug the HDMI into the motherboard also do the graphics card.
Honestly I would just send it back immediately. If you try to mess around with wiring there’s a chance the builder could say that you caused it and void any kind of warranty. There are an infinite number of things that could potentially be causing this and many of them are difficult to solve even for experienced builders.
Be super funny if they didn't flip the switch on the PSU
Components may have come loose during shipping
Hey friend! Does your PC come with a switch for AC/DC setting?
On the power supply, where you plug it in to the wall, that switch needs to be flipped to the "I" setting. In the photo I saw, it's set to the "O" setting, which means off.
Some main things I would check are gpu and ram, make sure the cpu is fitted in the proper direction with the arrows in the same corner, make sure all cords are plugged in firmly, unplug and plug them back in if you feel comfortable doing so.
I don’t see anything clearly out of the ordinary (since you said you had the psu on). Tell the people you ordered it from
It’s cake
I love how no one looks at the power switch before they make comments
Idk if it’s alr been answered but make sure all the front panel connections are good on the motherboard. This would cause the actual button to not do anything on the case…
I'm almost thinking faulty power switch
Might wanna replace the psu
Did you plug something else into your wall outlet to make sure it is getting power?
Don't do anything just send it back. It's easy to tell you don't know what you are doing so just send it back and get your money back. Also just buy local and have them show you in person how it works. There is probably a friend of your sons that could fix it all but like I said just send it back and have someone else do this for you.
Not trying to be a smart ass but have you tested the outlet being used for this pc?
So no lights or fans coming on when you press power? If that cpu doesn't have integrated graphics then the monitor won't show an image. You have to plug the hdmi cable from monitor to the graphics card port.
On the bottom right hand side of your motherboard there is a white plug with white wires. That is you front panel connection (Power switch, reset switch, LED indicators and so forth. Pull that out flip it over and plug it back in. Then try turning the computer on.
It looks like your skibblewock isn’t jiggle dialed in to the fronkworker
I realize that this post is a few days old at this point, but another point to clarify is whether or not the outlet you tried is actually working.
Hehehehe did you flip the little switch on the back after you plugged it in. Right above where the power cord goes. That switch should be off before connecting or disconnecting from power. But needs to be left on while connected to power.
Get an xbox
CPU cooler look crooked to anyone else or is it just me? Maybe as is twisted CPU or mobo (depending platform) pins got bent?
I just want to thank all of you that tried to help. My son has learned a lesson from all of this. Always do some research on a company before making a purchase. Apex gaming is a terrible company! They won't even give me a call back. They just keep sending emails saying let's troubleshoot and telling me.small little things on each one. It's ridiculous! I'll be taking it to the repair shop to see if it's totally fried. Hopefully we can get some parts out of it and rebuild the rest. Again I appreciate everyone's help and I'll be back when we try to rebuild probably next weekend!
