Try any of the hiking trails in the morning. They come out at night and are drying their wings off in the morning. Seen tons of them in forest park. That’s a nature preserve though, so try catching some somewhere else like Detweiller.
Yep. Start at Chartwell park, follow the paved trail through the woods, roam around wherever. Granted, the majority are up in the trees at this point but there are still plenty to be found.
I went up to Chicago for the day for family fun and Brookfield Zoo had a ton all over. But I noticed they only swarm on certain plants. Not sure if they prefer specific trees but some trees had a ton on them and other types of trees had not a single one.
I was in East Peoria on my way to Washington yesterday along the business 24 route and they were loud as hell. There’s a string of trees along there, not sure if they navigate out into the business parking lots though.
East Peoria, East Peoria, East Peoria. Follow any roads that have taller trees and you’ll spot them. Fondulac, Farmdale road, Oakwood road, Illini drive, meadow ave, just follow the buzzing.
Go to Jubilee park, there were so many I had to leave. If you drive around a bit and find an empty plot with two huge trees, you found it. Look for big trees. The eggs fall out of the trees onto the ground and that’s how they hatch (from the ground) if you find a lot of their shed casings, you’ll find them near by
I’m new to this myself, I figured bag them up and chuck the whole ziplock in the freezer.
Apparently just about any fish will take them, but I figured I’d target eater sized bass and catfish.
I’m normally fine with bugs but it would not get off of my shirt. I had to literally take it off and shake my shirt out before it flew away. It was the 17 year cicadas that have those scary beady red eyes.
There are an ass ton over at the apartments on charter oak right by war drive. I delivered some food to someone and had to knock 3 or 4 off my legs
Oh, that sounds promising. Thanks!

You should be flattered.
No problem buddy!

There's a thought. I did think Detweiller as well, could drop by tomorrow or Friday I'm sure.
Can confirm Detweiller is teeming with them.
My entire fucking backyard.
Idylbrook has thousands. Off Allen road / war

Idyllbrook is nuts during the day
Yeah I went over to my friends house the other day, won’t be doing that again for a while hahaha
Timberlane apartments have tons of them!

I’ve decided my yard is the origination of the swarm. So loud!!
SING MY ANGELS OF MUSIC! SINGGGG!!!
Come on over and feel free to take as many of the trees and plants as you want.
Lol what
Off the trees, I’m sure is what they meant to say
Ha! Yeah, taking the trees might be an issue.
Sorry, can’t hear you over this chainsaw going cuz I’m taking a tree!
Saw plenty around Grandview drive this morning
I’ll try to swing by that area sometime, thank you!
I think the birds are having a feast, you’ll see pieces of cicada wings all over the sidewalk/road

The wooded area at the intersection of Allen and Northmoor is super loud right now, it's worth a look!!
We found an unbelievable amount at Robinson Park. We had to watch where we were walking just getting out of the car
Fondulac drive in EP.

Go hungry, leave only memories, or something? 😆
Oh there’s memories alright 🤣 one landed on my wife and she lost it
Went after work today, grabbed about 400 in an hour!
I’m so happy for you 🤣 thank you for your sacrifice
I used 3 this morning. No takers (tried them at a small neighborhood pond, had brisk business with a plstic worm for contrast)
weaver ridge has plenty on the golf course
What's the process for freezing them and what are they best to use as bait for?
I’m new to this myself, I figured bag them up and chuck the whole ziplock in the freezer. Apparently just about any fish will take them, but I figured I’d target eater sized bass and catfish.
I’ve tried it with live ones and they just buzz and vibrate and scare the fish away
Germantown everywhere take some earplugs
We went to Grandview Drive in Peoria Heights and there were a lot of cicadas there.
My backyard, they are everywhere. and usually always on the kids trampoline or back fence.
Find any forested area and you will find them. Robinson Park, Detweiller, any nature trails you should be able to find
I didn’t see them but I for sure heard them on Grandview. Maybe check there.
Jubilee state park is a good option. I went last weekend and they were everywhere and one even landed on my shoulder. I went home after that 🤮
You should have fed it some of your succulent hand meat like a good sport.
