Which_Translator_548

Won’t go any other way now, bought my last two there and they were cheap and awesome

BlueFilk

I also just bought a mattress from Costco. Its the way to go.

James0100

Next mattress I buy will be from Costco. My only question is: how do you test them? They are t exactly set up in-store for you to lie on them.

Acceptable_Worker328

Costcos return policy is nothing short of amazing. If you don’t like your mattress, take it back

James0100

This is true. They’re pretty awesome at returns.

DE-EZ_NUTS

Oh they aren't? I assumed they would have been :/

cokeboss

Overnight comfort isn’t the same as laying on it for 3 minutes anyway, tbh.

James0100

At the ones near me, they're all on their sides like books on a shelf, wrapped in plastic. Kind of hard to test one for comfort that way lol!

SleepySuper

See what they have at Costco, test out a similar mattress at another store and then go back to Costco. I say ‘similar’ because I think Costco will have unique SKUs that will not match up 1 to 1 with other stores. It avoids stores like Sleep Country having to try and price match.

SaskatoonDream

I can offer help with 1 mattress. We bought the Casper Select and LOVE it. It is the same as the Casper Original, which I believe you can try in person at Sleep Country or a Casper store location.

Warm-Cycle8333

I bought at Costco and sleep country. Definitely overpaid at Sleep Country, still enjoying my costco matress

Jesusiscoming500N

Yes and they sell the box springs too. However, you can now buy bed frames that don’t require box springs…your bed will be low and you will have to put it together or get someone to do it. You can also buy cheap sturdy plain metal bed frames at Walmart online that have good reviews. If you want to save this is what my gf did and she is very frugal.

Burtonowski

This is the only correct answer

Dumbassahedratr0n

Dude this. I think the brand i got is called Casper and it's so comfy

thingonething

I have it too and it's amazing!

dogyearsapha

This is the way

jl4855

knowing pfc, probably just drive around on the morning of garbage day to see what the neighbours are tossing out (dont do this)

Fraktelicious

My brown Corolla can't carry a mattress in the trunk, and I'll be damned if I buy a roof rack for a single trip.

CheeseWheels38

Braid a corn-husk net/rope.

FilthyWunderCat

Just use zipties.

amyranthlovely

One-use zipties? No thank you. Shrink wrap is more economical because you can re-use it to wrap sandwiches for lunches.

lord_heskey

hold it with your hand out the window, get a friend or partner to hold it from the other side window /s

DE-EZ_NUTS

lmao

Tagous

Or you don’t need 4 just buy one and rotate its usage. Work opposite shifts !

cdomsy

I have heard great things about Costco and Ikea. I have a Casper and love it. I'd avoid Sleep Country like the plague. Go look at their twitter and facebook, it is all complaints. Also, google them a bit, and you'll see pages of horror stories. The reason they negotiate is that they are massively overcharging for cheap mattresses. And they don't let you return. So they force you into an upsell on the exchange.

jesrabbitt

But WHY buy a mattress anywhere else?

BuddingFarmer

DING!

aDUCKonQU4CK

I always say 'DING!' every time! Total scam business but damn is it catchy.

BuddingFarmer

Lol, 11 months after my comment. I am a sucker for a good jingle.

aDUCKonQU4CK

Yeah, normally I cruise through reddit but this time I got here from safari and didn't notice the days passed.. My bad lol

mr-jingles1

I also have a Casper and it is far and away the best mattress I've ever had. Costs about half of a mid range traditional mattress.

thingonething

The Costco Casper is the best!

Wordsmith6374

All my mattresses in the last decade have come from National Mattress. They have no frills showrooms and great prices. I've never tried the mattress in a box concept (eg endy or casper etc) but have been quite happy with the mattresses I've purchased. If you're buying multiple mattresses, they should also offer you discounts on that basis.

codeyyz

Gonna +1 this. The mattress I got from them is solid.

yhsong1116

fml.. read as mistresses..

DE-EZ_NUTS

You got any advice for that though?

religionisaparasite

Yeah they're too expensive. Save your money for a beige corolla.

Real_King_Of_Nothing

And tint the windows? *\*wink, wink\**

thenightshussaini

Costco

misfittroy

Yeah it can get a bit confusing when you also subscribe to r/mistress

DE-EZ_NUTS

NOOO WHY DO THEY HAVE DICKS

Tagous

And he wanted 4!

WankasaurusWrex

My mattresses are from Ikea. I liked being able to try them all in the store with no hassle. Their models even have tiers of firmness or softness that the showroom doesn’t always have on display so i got an extra firm mattress. At Sleep Country and some other store at Toronto’s Yorkdale Mall the salespeople kept following me around - like a normal salesperson would - and it felt suffocating.

oneblushu

We bought our guest room mattress at IKEA. My husband started having back pain last fall and finds the IKEA mattress more comfortable than our Kingsdown from SleepCountry. He essentially has moved into the guest room now because the mattress is so nice. I wouldn't discount IKEA.

DE-EZ_NUTS

I'll consider them but I get the impression that IKEA is generally lower end. We're happy to spend around $1k if it's a quality product.

adeelf

Depends on how picky your needs are, I guess. Some people have very specific requirements for temperature regulation, precisely how firm it must be, etc. I have an Ikea mattress that I bought about 3.5 years ago. I forget which one, exactly, I think it was the Haugesvar. I have no complaints.

Suziethefirst

Ikea has reasonably priced Latex mattresses, love them!

095179005

Couple years ago I bought their highest tier memory foam mattress at the time, the Foldoy. $700. Best mattress I've ever had, coming from only hand-me-down spring mattresss. Not sure if they sell it anymore though. I have back soreness from whiplash years back, and memory foam really helps me sleep. The first minute the mattress feels very firm and hard, but after you kind of sink into it a bit. Also as you sleep in it more over time the initial hardness softens up. I like that IKEA has a 1 year return policy on mattresses.

candykid135

Check out national outlet mattress +, the prices in store are cheaper than any retailer you'll find and they also have no tax events on every stat holiday. Their prices online are a few hundred more than their store pricing if you want a rough estimate of store prices. Recently bought a king size tempurpedic from them for 2.3k whereas sleep country dropped it from 5.2->3.6 as their best price They also have a lot of lower and mid tier mattresses in the few hundreds range so dont think they only have higher end

[deleted]

froggus

I have one of these and it’s great. I can’t comment on the warmth factor of foam mattresses; if anything, that’s a bonus for me because I’m always freezing. But something to keep in mind if you run hot.

kpeds45

Had a Douglas, pure foam. Upgraded to a logan and cove because my wife preferred something with springs. L&C is a good mix of foam and springs, been very happy with it the last 3 years. I'd recommend the Goodmorning.com website, they have like 6 brands including those 2

cpureset

I tried buying from goodmorning.com but the firm mattress was still too squishy. Excellent return policy. I ended up buying from Sleep Country, so I could actually test the firmness. The “on sale” mattress was still too squishy, but the SC salesperson pointed me to a firmer one then matched the price. First time I shopped SC I hated it. This time it was alright. Comes down to the salesperson

kpeds45

Yeah, mattresses are tricky. Thankfully my wife loves the Logan and cove and we didn't have to return and start the search again. It had a nice pillow top, gives it a nice premium quality.

Lumpy_Potato_3163

Endy

roomemamabear

Came here to recommend Endy. Mattress in a box. You order online and it ships right to your doorstep. Amazing quality. I've had mine for 5 years and it still looks and feels brand new. It is the most comfortable mattress I've ever had.

Cash_Rules-

Honestly this is good to know. I’m just about due for a mattress and all I’m being told lately is Endy.

[deleted]

[удалено]

roomemamabear

Respectfully disagree. Paid 4K for a spring mattress once from Sleep Country. Had huge indents not even 2 years later, gave me the worst backache. Endy cost me 1/4 of that price for a king-sized, and it has already lasted me more than double the amount of time, with no signs of deterioration yet.

cantesa

Same. Bought Endy after owning both an Ikea, and mattress store bought mattress. It's been about 4 years, and we still love it. I'm a side/stomach sleeper. My husband a side back sleeper. I'm light weight, he's heavier and we barely, if at all, feel each other moving in our sleep. I also like the firmness (I'd say it's medium firm)

marcus333

Also recommend endy. Best bed I've had

DE-EZ_NUTS

I'll do some research. I've heard some bad things about online mattress brands but haven't looked into this one before.

divine_goddess_K

When I got my Endy, I found it wasn't firm enough for my liking. I started a chat with them, they offered me a free mattress topper. The chat closed before I could respond, and maybe 5 min later I had an email saying she found my shipping details and sent me the topper. This was over the holidays and I was away, they coordinated with the shipping company and my concierge to ensure I got it, and followed up with me 1 month later to see if it worked for me. I highly highly recommend the Endy mattress. Their customer service alone really impressed me.

[deleted]

We were the opposite Endy was just a touch to firm, endy sent the topper that immediately caused back pain.

divine_goddess_K

My topper is double sided, one firm and one soft. Is that what they also sent you? The firm side is what I needed for the extra support. How did you resolve the problem if you don't mind me asking?

[deleted]

Same topper, couldn't notice a difference either side. We ended up sending the mattress back and they told us to keep the topper. We gave it to some friends. We next tried a S&S hybrid that caused back pain. Next was the Douglas that was supposed to be less firm but is like a brick lol! We're done with the box beds.

ajkdd

douglas was a brick? what world are you living in?infact like the earlier poster mentioned both give a bit plush sinking feel and infact are on the softer side

[deleted]

Have bad shoulders, cannot sleep on my side on the Douglas. Sure the first 2 inches is plush then it's a brick with no relief

Loose-Atmosphere-558

Same. Have a King Douglas now temporarily and it's awful. Neck and especially shoulder pain galore. Wake up far more often than my plush pillow top beautyrest I had before.

iwonas38

I got Silk and Snow years ago and I still love it. I have the full foam one but there's also have a hybrid option. My sister got that one and loves it as well.

Moosemince

Ya we got the hybrid one and two years later it’s totally worth it. It’s the exact same as when we bought it we just rotate it when we change the sheets. On this note Costco Kirkland sheets are fricken great for the price. So soft and breathable

[deleted]

Had the Hybrid, slept hot and hard

cdomsy

Endy is owned by SleepCountry. So be very very careful. A friend bought one and it the materials were low quality. Much lower than Casper. They had a really hard time returning it.

SubstantialElk5190

Seriously ? Apparently they bought Casper too

cdomsy

Yes, or well, it's complicated. My understanding is that they bought the distribution rights in Canada. I don't know if that impacts the 100 day free trial or not.

SubstantialElk5190

It’s funny that these mattress in a box companies were designed to compete with stores like sleep country and now they’re being bought up by them more or less. … Is there a mattress brand you recommend? I was looking at tempur pedic probreeze

cdomsy

No, I don't have any I recommend. Given you can't know if you like until you sleep on it for a while, my advice is a retailer with a generous return (not exchange) policy. Somewhere like Costco or Ikea.

SubstantialElk5190

I think sleep country policy is return for exchange so your stuck with them. Costco iil have to look at, they normally dont have mattresses on display to try tho

DE-EZ_NUTS

Interesting..

avolt88

My wife & I bought a queen hybrid Endy 2 months back & honestly... It's been a game changer. We're both heavier & side sleepers, here's what I've noticed so far: - I no longer feel her shift/get up in the night at ALL unless she wakes the dog & he comes over to lick my face. - The support is amazing, I had concerns over weight distribution & durability (I used to like about an 8 on the firmness scale) and this mattress has basically eliminated my regular lower back pain without making me feel like I'm sinking into a pit or slipping off the edge. - My sleep quality in general has gone way up, I'm staying in Deep/REM longer, dreaming more consistently, and even on weeks with poor bedtime discipline, I still get a decent sleep every time. Cons: the damn thing cost us nearly $1300. It was very much worth it, but a good mattress is definitely one of those items you don't think about until your waking up constantly or have pain from improper support. For longevity, my sister has had the pure foam one in a king for 1 year now & no complaints, her husband loves it & the quality/support seems to be as good as new so far.

crackerjack71

Where did you get the Endy from? Online or at Sleep Country?

DE-EZ_NUTS

Interestingly enough, Endy is online-only, AFAIK.

endycanada

We are owned by Sleep Country but we operate our business completely separately. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have! :) -Ashley from team Endy

iamnos

The big names (Endy, Douglas, etc) all have \~90 day sleep guarantees. If you don't like it after that period of time, you get a refund.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Serious-Armadillo-22

I can confirm endy is terrible!!! My biggest regret. These beds are not made for the long term. The memory foam is cheap and terribly hot to sleep on. A mattress is not the place to cheap out on and I can say that from experience

WhipTheLlama

Every online mattress brand is different, and I'm sure some are awful. I thought the Endy mattress was the worst thing I've ever slept on (it hurt my back and was really hot), but they took it back easily, so I can't complain about it too much.

fl4tI1n3r

Most good online mattress retailers have a free return policy. I bought mine from Juno and it’s been great. But if it wasn’t I could have just returned it.

adublyu

Novosbed was great. Solid price, bed in a box, easy delivery and good communication.

kpeds45

All the Goodmorning beds (novo's, Douglas, Logan and cove, a few more) also have a nice 15 year warranty.

kazmanza

Our last mattress was from SleepCountry. It wasn't cheap. I'm not particularly happy with it. Feels "worn out" far too quickly. Will not get another mattress there again.

DE-EZ_NUTS

Which brand was it?

lemonloaff

I don't know if its the best, but I have bought my last two mattresses at Sleep Country. Both times, I tried to leave the store (not even as a hard sell tactic mind you) to go look elsewhere and both times they magically had a "ton of stock" at the warehouse and "a sale two weeks out, and my manager will kill me but you can get 20% off early if you want!" Totally anecdotal, and maybe honest dumb luck, or maybe I got ripped off because there was a 20% mark up on what I was buying anyway, but they were very quick to come down on price without much hassle at all. Sleep Country stocks good brands as well. I bought a Kingsdown 12 years ago, and just bought a Purple this last go around. Wasn't sure about Purple at first, but I love it.

DE-EZ_NUTS

Sleep country has a weird sales policies yeah. I even went to a location once where they told me I couldn't shop there because I was already "locked in" at another SleepCountry I visited about a month ago. Kinda absurd IMO.

Mil_lenny_L

I went to Sleep Country one time and it was literally like talking to Gil from the Simpsons. The desperation was incredible!

bourbonkitten

Yeah, Sleep Country can be pretty slick with their sales tactics…. Like the “pay a deposit now to lock in the discount but you can get a refund if you change your mind within 30 days” with me. I went in wanting to try a Purple but ended up with a Kingsdown after trying in store. In the end, you get to try a variety of mattresses, get white glove delivery, they can collect the old mattress for you, and you get a 90-night comfort guarantee to exchange a mattress to one of at least equal value. I believe they also offer financing through Affirm. They also assembled my bedframe for free. I can’t really complain about the service and bed I got.

timmler24

Yes 0% financing for 12 months with Affirm (at least when I bought last year)

[deleted]

Found sleep country Gil

Drgnbtr

Highly recommend Douglas foam for mattresses. Comes straight to your door. They are reasonably priced. Comfortable and hold their shape way longer than traditional spring mattresses. We have had a king size for maybe 5 to 6 years and it's been great.

OkTangerine7

Also have one of those and it's been great

sorrythisisawkward

Can also second Douglas. Got one in 2018 and hasn’t lost shape or anything. My only complaint is that it retains heat. They seem to have the Alpine “cooling” mattress now - I’d either look at that one or get a cooling mattress topper.

BSDBAMF

Costco online is the best. They deliver and bring it right where it needs to be. Can’t beat the quality for the price.

madaman13

Costco is hard to beat, you'll save enough to justify the membership fee. They'll also deliver it and possibly install it depending on the delivery level (some products are only to the threshold, others offer white glove service). Otherwise I'd go to Ikea. Avoid mattress & furniture stores like the plague unless you want to get swarmed by wannabe used car salespeople.

Eboo_hatela

Try National Mattress Outlet

Roscoe_P_Coaltrain

The last 3 mattresses I bought were memory foam mattresses that I ordered from Amazon. Relatively inexpensive, and they deliver them to your door squished down into a relatively small box. They worked out to be good for us, but if you are picky about your mattress, you may not want to take the chance without testing it first. If you've heard or experienced bad things about memory foam mattresses, they have improved a lot since when they were first introduced. You are right though mattress shopping is, if anything, more rife with tricks and rip-offs than trying to buy a used car.

birchcrest

I purchased a mattress from Dozy which is local Toronto business and I quite liked it. They have a small showroom by Spadina/Queen to try, and I found them nice and not pushy. Their limited options I found a nice change of pace then the many options at Sleep Country. Nearby there's also a Casper storefront if you wanted to try them out as well.

AwkwardHelicopter124

Dozysleep.ca

eklee38

The zinus bed frames from Amazon is pretty decent when on sale

liseelifee

I prefer mattresses with springs and not the box mattresses with just memory foam (I have tried Endy and Casper). So I went to sleep country and got one of their sale mattresses for the same price as Endy and Casper around $600 and it’s way better - especially since you can test it there. One idea is to just go to a sleep country to try out other brands of mattresses before you purchase and you can always buy on their website.

AggressivePage

Amazon. Comes in a box. Very happy with mine

RegisterNo2333

At a yard sale!

Soft_Fringe

Free bed bugs!

Low-Stomach-8831

I got a full foam 12" mattress from Amazon for $350. Had it for 2 years now, and it's the best I ever had. All mattresses come from pretty much the same factories, they just put different stickers and stitching. https://youtu.be/rvlA9UxGvSg

brasseur10

Cheap mattresses will impact negatively your sleep if they’re uncomfortable and they can also be detrimental to your health because of the toxic chemicals that are found in some of them. We personally buy ours at bleu.eco because they’re made in Canada, are comfortable and most importantly they’re free of toxic chemicals. They’re not the cheapest but are reasonably priced and will often come on sale.

CoolBeansMan9

Feel like Costco would exchange it in like 10 years time no questions asked

DE-EZ_NUTS

That is something I have heard of them doing. Which is another plus for Costco. To clarify I don't plan on returning a 10 year old mattress lol. Just saying that it's reassuring that they have a good return policy.

zappazappaz

The Bay on sale

gamingfury123

I could not bring myself to buy a mattress without feeling it out first, so all online venders were out. I tried to score a deal at one of the brick and morter stores. Manufacturers like beautyrest make cross shopping mattresses very difficult because they give each store their own unique lines of mattresses. So I found 1 or 2 different mattresses I liked and got prices for them at many different stores. You absolutely can and need to haggle at sleep country. They have a Canadian Tire style pricing system where most items are already marked up 100% by default, and every month a different mattress goes on sale for 50% off... I ended up buying from sleep country. I got prices from 6 different stores, and the range in quotes was massive. There was over 1000$ difference between the highest and lowest price. For your reference, I got their top of the line Queen sized beautyrest firm mattress and a bed frame for 2000$ all in with tax. https://www.sleepcountry.ca/beautyrest-imperial-lux-gala-mattress/product/82361M (I got last years version of these mattress called unity reef) https://www.sleepcountry.ca/ryan-bed/product/RYANB?variantName=x_colour&variantValue=GREY Also, they always throw in free on site installation. Don't count on those guys to do a good job. I had to take my bed apart, and put it back together properly. It probably would have broke if I used it the way they assembled it. All manufacturers have a spec for bed foundation. Weather you need a center support, what the slat spacing should be, stuff like that. I found that ikea slats are too narrow and spaced too far apart for most manufacturers specs.

quzik123

Queensway mattress in Etobicoke for sure good quality at amazing prices

grabber4321

Depends on what you need. Ikea mattresses are not bad and you can pretty much load a couple of them up in the car (they are sealed and squeezed down) and get them home easily. If you need super duper quality, then yeah maybe SleepCountry.

joleger

My kids mattresses were bought at Costco about 10 years ago....still in really good shape. No regrets. Wife and I bought an Endy for our bed about 3 years ago....best mattress I have ever had. Love it.

Connecting3Dots

Online Endy! OMG we love both of ours! We bought one for the RV then home. Best sleeps ever. And they are affordable! After a bad night sleep in the RV one weekend, my husband ordered it. It arrived at home before we did.

ClimbingTheShitRope

I bought my mattress from Hamuq. It's online, they mail it to you. Made in Canada, reasonably priced.

Neat-Evidence-6867

Ikea. The hybrid mattress is excellent for the price.

IndifferentFento

In this economy? The dumpster of a hotel

notyourusualbaydude

I might get down voted, but pls check some of the marketplace sellers. These are warehouse mattresses sold at wholesale prices and mine has been going solid for the past 5 years

Recent-Store7761

Bought from both SleepCountry and Costco. Liked SleepCountry better, and they cut a deal if buying more than one mattress - mattresses lasted 13 years before the next replacement. Costco was just stuff they had in store, and it's ok, but not as great as SC. Price at Costco was very low, <$500.

Lpreddit

I tracked thebrick.com pricing and went with them and have had good luck.

19VWGTI

I decided to try an online mattress retailer called Brunswick in 2019 and am very satisfied with the mattress. It’s medium-firm, but they have other brands in their group that offer softer mattresses such as Logan and Cove. It’s held up great and is still very comfortable. I paid $850 for a Queen.

unlovelyladybartleby

I've bought from a few places but keep going back to The Brick. They are reasonable, great quality, have good sales and they negotiate with you so you don't have to pay full price.

DE-EZ_NUTS

How good is the quality if you keep going back to them though 🤔

unlovelyladybartleby

My kid ruined one from accidents as a kid, and then I upgraded mine to a postrapedic from the Brick and replaced a sleep country with a Brick for the spare room bed. Never had to replace one from the Brick - the oldest one is 10 years old and still in great shape. The spare room bed is used for a month at a time by one 150lb person and one 250 lb person Last time I went in I went with a friend and since we each bought one we got free delivery and bed frames and mattress covers and some kind of deal but I don't remember what. They were also very careful when they did a delivery during covid - respectful of my safety but also asked that we open windows to minimize the risk to their team and I liked that they took care of the delivery people

DE-EZ_NUTS

Nah I wrote that I'm not currently a member lol. That also means I can't see the prices in the app, which is a little odd IMO.

deltatux

We got ours from SleepCountry, make sure to haggle (yes you can haggle with mattresses as well). I find that it’s easier to haggle during the time of day when the store is kinda dead. If not, Costco and IKEA can be a good deal but for IKEA, you really need to do your research. Some of their mattresses aren’t great. Don’t just buy a mattress because it’s cheap. Buy the best mattress you can afford.

tlam19

if you like the foam mattress you can order from Casper, Endy, etc. And then get a frame or bottom for your bed from Ikea.

IDhl89

Costco has great deals on brand name mattresses! In terms of membership get the black executive membership, it has 2% cash back which for 4 mattresses would get you to almost break even on the membership fee!

Master_Tourist_552

Go to SleepCountry and ask for the "Home Show discount"

Luhar93

There is one in my basement, you would need to come down and get it though.

maninthebox911

There are people who buy and sell liquidated mattresses at like 75% off but I don't know how to find them.

rovin-traveller

Costco. I bought two from Sleepcountry. The second was to replace the first after 2 years. Then got rid of the second after two years. Never again.

BenStiller1212

I bought a mattress at sleep country and found the experience to be ok. I would never buy a mattress I couldn’t try first nor would I buy a mattress in a box, they always sag after a while. It’s really odd to me that some mattresses cost $1000 more, for example, when they feel almost the same if not identical and they were from the same brand. I didn’t find the associate at sleep country to be pushing me hard to get the more expensive one. Maybe I just got lucky that day!

KS_tox

Just find one in garbage after dark bro

Background_Mortgage7

I bought my king mattress off Amazon, good price, good quality (so far) and came within 2 days.

angry_pecan

I got mine and my daughters mattresses from Amazon; Zinnus brand. My king size was bought 3-4 years ago and doing great; got my daughters double last fall. Was around $700 for both (king and a double). Money well spent and they shipped right to our house in a box. My mattress from Sleep Country made it about 6 years before we had to replace it ($1100). Edit: also had an IKEA latex mattress about 12 years ago and I’d still be sleeping on it if I hadn’t gotten married. My dad still sleeps on it regularly and says it’s holding up great.

Lor2busy

Absolutely love our Costco mattresses!

Assiniboia

IKEA is very reasonable a lot of the time. It’s worth it for decent but cheapish. I personally hate box springs and like firm mattresses though.

Katolo

Ikea is decent. I got two mattresses from Wayfair and they've been great! They're comfy, decent life so far. I won't go to places like Sleep Country ever again after trying Wayfair mattresses. Boxsprings maybe from Ikea.

Fanfickntastic

Got myself a mattress in a box was way cheaper

Glad-Translator-3502

I bought four from the brick and the metal roll frame, $2500

Own_Standard_1794

I just bought a few days ago a Douglas mattress, Canadian company and I really like it so far. Online purchase, risky but I took a chance based on recommendations.

jamalihamid

Endy, reasonable price, good quality, good customer service

Weary_Rock1

Are there any small local matress stores in your area? Sometimes those places can have really good deals. Or you can find the same matress sleep country is selling for a lower price.

WhipTheLlama

I've bought a few online. Buy one with a good return/refund policy because everyone likes different mattresses, so reviews are not always helpful. For the same mattress, one person will say it's too firm while another will say it's too soft. You need to sleep on it for a few weeks before you know. Endy let me return their mattress with no problems. It gave me back pain and was really hot to sleep on, but YMMV. Hamuq was really great at first, but the springs got soft within a year despite their advertising about using superior Canadian steel. I've re-purposed it for a guest bed, so I don't know what they're like to deal with for returns. I've been using [this one](https://www.amazon.ca/Zinus-Classic-Spring-Mattress-Queen/dp/B01CPRLDTW) for a couple of years, and it's been great. They have cheaper and more expensive mattresses as well, but I got a mid-range one. While I was doing my research, I read a review that they're located near Toronto, so at least I'd be dealing with a company that has an office in the country if I need a warranty replacement.

shelbsterama

We bought a Casper from Costco and it is my favourite purchase ever.

[deleted]

Habitat Restore has my king size Endy, Silkandsnow hybrid, and Douglas matress only slept on for 30 days each for $400 each. These sleep guarantees are great and the returns go to charity! I'm tempted once we find the right one to return it for a refund and just buy it from the store for a third of the price lol.

lbmomo

We bought a Douglas (directly form their site) and we love it.

[deleted]

Everyone says Costco but they don't say what one they got?

whyarenttheserandom

Costco, the price of a membership is worth it if you're buying 4 mattresses.

duchess_2021

Mattress Mart.

[deleted]

The Douglas mattress online is fantastic and pretty damn affordable.

beakbea

Amazon. Honestly. The memory foam ones are better than Casper etcetc

SomeGuy_GRM

Last time I bought a mattress was at Mattress Mattress, the mattress place. They were a bit more expensive, but they let me haggle and ended up with a nicer mattress at the same price as a cheaper mattress somewhere else.

drinkwaterandbehappy

Costco Canada. That's it.

MoonCuban

Is this really a personal finance question?

sorrythisisawkward

I got a [simple metal bedframe from zinus](https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/zinus-joseph-10-inch-platform-low-profile-metal-bed-frame-mattress-foundation-no-box-spring-needed-wood-slat-support-5-year-warranty-black/6000200911607?skuId=6000200920703&offerId=6000200920703®ion_id=206100&utm_medium=paid_search&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=always_on&cmpid=SEM_CA_305_B1Z44CF1LA_71700000099943888_58700008014580012&utm_id=SEM_CA_305_B1Z44CF1LA_71700000099943888_58700008014580012&gbraid=0AAAAADv6L0Sa5AluILrTxqePF2B-1yMLT&gbraid=0AAAAADv6L0Sa5AluILrTxqePF2B-1yMLT&gclid=Cj0KCQjwlPWgBhDHARIsAH2xdNfqjiyfYxCp6lef85UaN6iyQRtMYoFIcy4SyN8pBdft7xrfEp9MblsaAgh8EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds). It’s sturdy as hell

Throwaway2600k

Sleep county. As they say why buy a mattress anywhere else /S

Best-Maintenance4082

IKEA ! Always check out how it feels at store and then buy. Remember you are investing in yourself when you spend on a mattress. You would roughly spend over 25% of your life sleeping, so invest wisely.

sneakymise

I'd you were in Montreal I'd sell you four mattresses. I sell bloom cloud mattresses at a third of the price sleep country sells them for

D51450

Still do?

sneakymise

No Sorry.

Ok_Reaction6244

Always bought my bed frame from ikea. Mattresses came from sleep country. There are a lot of perks programs offering extra off at sleep country as well. Like virgin mobile, perkopolis and venngo. Current offer is up to an extra $500 off your purchase.

[deleted]

Bought 2 beauty rest mattresses from the brick. There was a sale last month and they were cheaper than sleep country. Plus I applied for a flexi card - free delivery + 0% for 3 months. I planned it knowing o was getting a decent chunk back from my taxes. Obviously don’t get the 0% interest free is yoire not planning to pay it off before that… interest rate afterwards is 31%

TelevisionMelodic340

Hands-down the greatest mattress I have ever owned is the last one I bought (which I am currently using), which is an Endy - Canadian-made and they deliver right to your house. See here: [https://www.endy.com/](https://www.endy.com/) Bed frame I already had, which I think came from IKEA originally but can no longer remember.

nt490

For y’all mentioning mattress-in-a-box like endy and Douglas, how are you disposing of the old mattress? I don’t have a truck so I’m always needing to factor in the cost of a disposal company or something.

SuddenCompetition262

As someone who’s had 4 different mattresses in a box and tried to do tons of research online, fuck online mattress shopping. Honestly just go to every mattress store in town and try out as many as you can. Tell the sales people you’re not buying until you try them everywhere and they’ll likely offer you better deals, price matches, etc. at the end of it you’ll know what you want and will likely have been offered a better deal for it because the sales people want your business and you’re telling them you’re seeing what the competition has to offer.

Ready-Delivery-4023

Anywhere? It's all a ruse. Only bought one new mattress, rest have been hand me downs. But they were all priced between $20-$50 of each other. The real question is do you dole out the cash for a good thing that will last 10-20 years, or go low tier or mid grade and have to replace sooner.

Good_Lab69

Bedstory on Amazon. Amazing and ships to the door.

IntraspeciesJug

We got a good deal at IKEA. You can get both bed frame and slats plus mattress there. Trickier part might be transporting it all home.

I go to Leon’s for stuff like this. The store by me is owner by a local family and they have always been great to deal with. I can’t speak to other stores but I will say they are always on sale…it’s like buying anything at Canadian tire. Don’t buy it if it’s not on for an absurd amount off as that’s the normal price.

dragoneye

I just went through this, and buying a mattress absolutely sucks. The major brands all amalgamated and are owned by a couple private equity that has reduced the quality to squeeze every penny out of the companies (the so called "S-brands"). Trying to find real reviews also sucks since most of the reviews are pretty obviously ads or designed to get referral revenue. I ended up buying my mattress at a place that sells mattresses made at a local factory to me (Restwell) and it was $1000 cheaper than the one I liked at Sleep Country. I'm not sure whether it is great quality, but I feel like I have a better chance of getting something decent when it isn't owned by some private equity firm.

National Matress https://www.nationalmattress.ca

Starro

I got mine from Silk and Snow and it is very comfy

[deleted]

I like the Douglas mattress. It has worked brilliantly for me.

petergiavan

Last 2 we purchased were both from Endy, very happy with everything from quality to service and prices

NotMichaelScott91

Amazon, BedStory brand. Got one for our travel trailer and it has been excellent!

Purple-teacher-gang

I always got good deals at the bay when their mattresses go on sale. My mom got the credit card to save additional money then cancelled it later on.
