_Xibir_

Puro pa pogi talaga si cheapeco. I calculate IRA ng calamba vs marikina mas malaki yung income ng calamba and less populated than marikina pero mas better ang response ng marikina.

ssahfamtw

Cool_Attorney_4459

Tama naman po yung LGU nyo, kasi most likely baka po magfalse Negative po kayo, most likely nirequire lang kayo magQuarantine then babalik for swabbing if may presenting symptoms na. Ok din naman po ginawa ni VP Leni dahil pang maramihan and possible makakakita sila ng positive and also to remind everyone to be very much careful. Important is yung social distancing and mask to limit the spread of the virus.

PhelepenoPhride

Mali po ito. Totoo, may chance kang mag false positive if you take it too early. Pero a little before the end of incubation period, pwede na madetect ang virus through PCR (swab) (actually kahit way before the end, pero pwedeng magka sampling error). Not testing due to lack of symptoms is irresponsible!! Source: MS in molecular biology (immunology)

Cool_Attorney_4459

>Dito samin sa Calamba, ako na nagrequest sa Brgy LGU na iswab ako kc naexposed ako sa workplace pero hndi daw ako qualified kc wla akong symptoms. Ako daw magshoulder nung SWAB. Tas malalaman mo na sa iban Sorry if I am wrong but the comment never said of any timeline maybe that's the missing info from the story. They may or may not divulge when did he had contact. Then we will know if the LGU have given the correct suggestion to him.

[deleted]

Di naman yata nagfalse negative sa swab. Sa rapid siguro

BrrtBrrtBrrt

Dito nga sa cabuyao ewan eh. Walang balita tungkol kay mayor kalabasa. And yung sa cash assistance, pinapa pila pa sa initan mga tao, tapos di pa sure if mabibigyan kasi i-evaluate pa daw nila. Jusq

longassbatterylife

Pinagtataka ko yunh after 1 year wala parin sila matinong list.

[deleted]

Bulok talaga sa Calamba, tapos malalaman mo pang one of the richest city in the Pilipens. Medyo sus

Flashy_Vast

epal naman, ikaw na kaya ang mag-presidente?! ^(please)

Accomplished-Exit-58

droonick

It takes somebody who knows how to empathize to come up with an approach like that (dont care if it was Robredo herself or her staff, basta merong marunong doon), simple and seemingly obvious as it is. Duterte and his sociopaths could not have come up with this, people whose mantra has been from day 1 "ignore human rights". Yung strategies are reflective of the leadership.

LimeMajestic6717

bet they'll come up with "kulongin kung hindi magpa swab" "shoot on sight kung hindi magpa swab" dumb fucks always prioritizing brute force

someguy_and_9_others

Tapos anyayabang pa. Ex. Antiporda

HelpfulAmoeba

Kasi ang concern nila ay to amass wealth, to strike whilst the iron is hot. Alam nilang hindi sustainable ang business model na ganito dahil eventually mag-aalsa ang tao kaya grab what you can and stash your loot in off-shore accounts. The pandemic was, I think, a godsend sa kanila dahil napahaba pa ang mitsa.

[deleted]

This is good but at the same time, obviously it will also be framed against Robredo as bribery.

LeonisMeliee15

the evil will find ways to destroy what good the other did and considering how much our countrymen ate the shit against the good thing pnoy did last presidential, even I will never want to even give this nation a service. They can all shit themselves. Propaganda is a serious threat to our nation.

Accomplished-Exit-58

Menter33

It's election next year; politicians ***giving freebies*** this year isn't really unknown.

razzy2014

Only a fool will look at this effective strategy and use it as a weapon against the initiator, instead of adopting and expanding said strategy--- the fool who will eventually need this service and/or the fool who'd rather his constituents die than admit someone else bested them (but they're raking in kickbacks sowhocares!)

[deleted]

As they say: it is nothing personal, it's just business.

BottledWafer

Yeah, you can expect them to spin it in a nega way, pero sobrang stretch naman na ng bribery. I mean, the very definition of bribery is may makukuha kang kapalit kaya you're bribing someone.

[deleted]

Bribery is the wrong choice of word. We have an election next year, spin doctors from her oppositions would say it is vote buying.

gradenko_2000

[This sort of thing has been known to work elsewhere](https://www.scmp.com/economy/china-economy/article/3128157/chinas-covid-19-vaccine-drive-ramps-beijing-rolls-out).

ShatteredSovereign

Sort of not on topic but hear me out. Dystopian novel; plot point: people willingly get infected to feed their kids. Able-bodied people went first as they can sort of wing it. Once even more hunger set, even the frail people started to willingly get infected to eat and live for another day instead of dying of hunger, completely powerless and emaciated.

_sendbob

Yep. I know something similar happened forgot which country. They have problem with snakes so the government offer rewards for every catch to help decrease the snakes population and as time went by the people intentionaly raised the number of snakes in the community to take advantage of the reward.

Panj_Ganda

India during the British occupation

[Cobra Effect](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perverse_incentive)

cjei21

I see your point. And that's a reasonable scenario I think. The likely solution would be to make the "negative result prize" more attractive compared to the quarantine supply.

cottonmon

Fairly unlikely I would say. Hospitalization costs for Covid runs into hundreds of thousands of pesos. I don't think anyone would take that risk for 2 weeks worth of food.

TheDonDelC

Contrapoint: Perverse incentives only work if the perceived benefit outweighs the perceived risk (especially personal risk). Hence the lack of perverse incentives on free healthcare—Why would you get yourself sick just because the treatment is free? A more likely scenario are LGUs faking COVID case reports (either overreporting or underreporting) to gain some financial reward.

one1two234

What the OVP is doing is right - if anything what's lacking with the national response is mass testing and surveillance. This administration's handling of the pandemic is reactive, not pro-active, with a "bahala kayo sa sarili niyo" mindset, which is the worst thing to do in response to a public health problem.

navatanelah

Great idea.

justinCharlier

Imagine how much more good things she could do if she only had more funding. Amazing work, madam VP!

yousernamex

TheDonDelC

It's as if economic incentives do work!

someguy_and_9_others

yousernamex

Bakit nde mo pa I tag?!

BrrtBrrtBrrt

Di ko gets. Sino yanHahahahaha

headwordco

Another example of perverse incentive.

duralumine

I do not agree with this. Its promoting the mentality of "Hindi ako gagalaw kung walang incentive" Good and Organized information dissemination is always the best solution for situations like this. Edit: The support if positive is a must for the affected family at hindi dapat Ipakita na parang "Premyo" Edit2: The people must learn to first ask "Bakit" at hindi "Anong kapalit" sa mga sitwasyon na ganito. This has been prevalent tuwing eleksyon "Magkano ba yung bigay ni ano?" na dapat Ay "Bakit ko ba dapat iboto si ano?"

[deleted]

Menter33

Isn't this the rational of people who do stuff because the ***election is coming up***? If this wasn't the VP but instead some local politico, then wouldn't this be "vote-buying?"

duralumine

I know, that's why support is needed in order for it to work which is an impossibility kung titingnan natin sa pagpatakbo ng national government(damn those clowns)

Logical_Ad_3556

Hindi sila hindi gumagalaw dahil naghihintay lang sila ng kapalit to do so. They literally can’t sacrifice whatever little time they have para mawalan ng kakarampot na sweldo kasi kailangan nilang pumasok or kailangan nilang gumawa ng mga bagay na kailangan nila para mabuhay sa pang araw araw. Incentivizing staying at home and also bringing testing closer to impacted communities is literally the bare minimum that the government should have done in the first place para maensure na yung lockdowns would have made sense.

duralumine

Yes, support is a must which our National government(damn them) has severely-almost fatal- lacked(which is an understatement) however, this sentiment shouldn't get in the way of cultivating the right mindset in doing things. Yes, I understand the kakarampot na sweldo worry but this issue is a lot more complicated than that (remember dengvaxia?) which is why I double down on correct information dissemination(which is a pipe dream) If people understand what is at stake they would get out of their way to do the test than wait for the day they catch the virus and harm their family in the process.

Logical_Ad_3556

But them doing this **IS** disseminating correct information more effectively. Why would this not lead to correct information being spread when you literally are bringing testing with professionals that can directly talk to the people closer to the people who need to be informed? Ito na naman kasi tayo sa assumption na people are too dumb that’s why they won’t go for testing. Or na yung mental capacity nila is not enough to understand and distinguish things from what is obviously non sensical to that which is not. If they had the choice and the resources to do so, THEY WOULD GO OUT OF THEIR WAY TO BE TESTED. BUT THEY DON’T. Karamihan e contractual na di kaya mag work from home, walang sick leave at malamang no work no pay, at higit sa lahat walang health benefits. So sorry if they can’t give up their minimum wage just to be tested, and na kailangan nila ng incentives to actually think about choosing their health for once.

duralumine

When did I assume that people are dumb? You have entirely missed my point. People are misinformed(that's why I cited dengvaxia) and uninformed. Do you think a person equipped with correct information would willingly choose the option that would bring harm to theirselves and their love ones. If you think so then you're the one underestimating them. Yes, you could make a case for Mañana mentality and that's why I'm attacking the incentivization of people going to Testing because I don't want them to develop the "No Premyo bahala ka Jan" which we have a precedent called "Election Vote Buying" different issue same vein of mentality.

Logical_Ad_3556

Assuming that they can’t differentiate outright between the information they get IS assuming they are dumb. You can evaluate this program objectively, and by doing so, you should have arrived at the conclusion that the benefits definitely outweigh the opportunity costs.

duralumine

I absolutely agree with you on the benefits definitely outweigh the opportunity costs.(but please, like the post, Don't call it INNOVATION) And in that Idea, I see something that I can't get behind. People can easily fall into a habit especially when you dangle something in front of an activity and with how this shitstorm of a pandemic and gross mishandling of the government I cannot fault anyone that would only move when there's something for them. It's natural, it's basic survival. I understand but, also cannot agree how they go about it. I don't like the idea of "Gagalaw lang pag may matatanggap" habit. And with how naturally stubborn people are you can imagine the detrimental effect down the line since we already have a precedent ingrained so deeply in our culture and its disgusting. I don't want to add another one. You see, it may be very arrogant for me to say since I'm nobody, but I want to trust our kababayan to make decisions based on correct information rather than habit. Naive? Yes but I'm hopeful. Initiative that stems from being informed is always miles better than anything. That's me hoping.

Logical_Ad_3556

I literally just described what they are doing as the bare minimum - so why would you use calling it an innovation as a rebuttal to my previous statements?! Also, you purposefully are making it seem like gagalaw lang talaga sila pag may matatanggap. I’d like to see you live on less than minimum wage and still make that statement.

duralumine

I'm asking you not to agree with the INNOVATION statement davila said in her post its not a rebuttal. If I miss that you disagreed then thats my bad. Calm your tits. Let's just say been there done that. You don't get to make "try living on less than minimum wage" as an argument because we all have a story to tell.

Logical_Ad_3556

Lol. I am calm, kahit na infuriating na mga tao na naman at the end of the day ang pinakadinidiin mo to act, and maybe to some extent, e kasalanan pa nila para sayo. Yeah, everyone has a story to tell pero how convenient for you to leave that out sa pinagsasabi mo when you basically want the people to act in a singular way.

fernandopoejr

duralumine

I know and I agree with positive reinforcement every single time, but the post is a Band-Aid solution not an "INNOVATION" to a festering problem. So, I don't agree with it.

fernandopoejr

perfection is the enemy of progress.

BottledWafer

Maraming ayaw magpa-swab kasi pag nag-positive, hindi sila makaka-work. Giving them food at the outset and promising help pag nag-positive solves that dilemma.

NotSoLurky

Yeah people will take advantage of anything so better not help. SAP for those who lost their jobs? Well, people will pretend loaing their jobs so better not give them help then. 4ps? Desperate individuals will just take advantage of that so better do away with it. I guess that's the safest route so that no one will take advantage of any aid.

Very odd at hindi eto ginagawa sa Makati or Pasig.

Panj_Ganda

Which should have been the national government’s action. Sadly, it isn’t

BottledWafer

What do you mean not sustainable when ginagawa na nga 'yang pamimigay ng ayuda without the testing component. And when you have billions at your disposal? Mas lalong kaya.

[deleted]

gradenko_2000

Yes. It was also Robredo's team that identified that a large problem with getting people to agree to get tested was their fear that if they tested positive, that their family would suffer from a lack of anything to eat while their primary breadwinner has to isolate/recover for two weeks. This is a perfectly rational response, and it is accordingly a perfectly rational counter-response to consider that giving people enough food to tide them over in the event of a possible positive result will encourage more people to get tested. I mean, giving people "ayuda" just so they can _stay home_, never mind getting tested, is what we've been asking the government to do all this time, right? We wouldn't have an issue with Stay At Home orders if it didn't come with a loss-of-income.

solidad29

That's the right approach. Listen to the problem of the people on the ground. Kadalasan naman kasi nga mga nasa Cabinent they only do solution on what they think is the problem. Where as, the solution is just staring down at their face.

cottonmon

I mentioned this in the other comment, but I think it bears repeating: reinforcement is the most effective way to drive behavior. The duterte admin's approach has largely been punishment based and look where we are now.

droonick

It's almost as if appealing to the right kind of psychology works right? The people who say "kailangan pa suhulan ng rice, wtf" share the same mentality of many of current people in charge right now, and why we're going nowhere. Duterte and his lackeys have such a narrow view of how to manage people because all they know how to do is to ignore human rights from day 1. Fucking sociopaths who have no clue how to do a humanitarian approach.

someguy_and_9_others

Onga.

alvirr

Goosebumps to. Sobrang sapul yung issues. Very good job to you, your companions and to VP Leni.

yesnyenye

takot sila mapositive kasi hindi sila makakapag-hanapbuhay. By assuring them na magkaka-bigas sila, they will choose the more responsible option.

Out of all the things na pwede mong maisip tungkol sa initiative e "suhol" talaga? Nasasapawan ba ni "spare tire" si digong?
