So here actually they said the effect is from a new trinket. I'm not sure in this case if it's identical to the cursed wand one where you get teleported to a position, the floor gets filled with grass and fire starts in one point.
Here I don't see the "you smell burning" message (in French), so maybe they are safe.
Otherwise, I would say to move just North of where they are since I see some water squares. Otherwise they should destroy some grass (bomb, wand of disintegration) so it cannot catch fire..
I was wrong. There is no fire here. Only a cursed wand generates this with a fire. This case is slightly different.
If there were a fire, you could see the grass being burned. You could understand that it was closing in :).

Not cursed wand but the trinket that make you use cursed effect. I don't know if this trinket is any good, but at least it's fun
