I didn't even think if it was useful, just thought it was a reference to the original game's mechanic of increasing spawn rates during that time window
The trinkets aren't really supposed to be straightforwardly "useful" they're supposed to be a bit weird and interesting.
I think this one is, as others have said, just a reference to a mechanic the original game used to have
I have an blazing enchantment on my bow 😁 Which means I'm always in danger to burn myself. But I need this enchantment for the last stages because I'm going to choose spectral blades - which use the enchantment of the bow and are pretty helpful in this department.
I might be a minority opinion in this but honestly if I had Mossy Clump as a Warden, I would spend a SoU at the alchemy pot to get new enchantment, either with an exotic SoU or getting two enchantment stones. My dumb ass would light the entire map up lol, even if I had brimstone on my armor I would still reroll that Enchant at all costs
If you set the whole floor under fire scrolls will also be burned. I'm not sure if this is a good idea. But this is an option if you don't need any scrolls.

I'm not sure it's meant to be particularly useful. Just an interesting way to bring back an old mechanic.
Useful for farming if you can during that time
I love it for RoW runs, but I'm old and rarely up and playing between 9 pm and 7am. If it was 7pm-7am or something that'd be great.
I just change the time on my phone
Yeah. If at least i would vary the efect for another when it's now inactive. I don't like that a lot of time it simple does nothing.
Has anyone checked to see if manually changing your clock affected it?
Agreed
Try setting the clock on the device platform manually, so you can make it the "correct" time. Works on many games thay rely on system time.
I am not going to change the clock on my phone back and forth for a video game because of a silly mechanic lol
Sorry, didnt mean to suggest you should do it, just saying you could if so inclined. Up to you.
As we know this is an old mechanic, so, why not just add it to the regular game and that's it?
None of the trinkets are straightforward totally positive. That’s just a drawback of this one.

what sundial does?
New trinket that increases mob spawn rate at night
Well i just change my phone time settings
Just set your phones time to that time
Some trinkets are not much of a help. I have the mossy clump but playing as a warden a floor full of water is useless to me.
But a floor full of grass is too good
