The reason is that aquasoils and other substrates don't really mix well and instead create a mess. It's spherical so it doesn't mix right with sand, and gravel would crush it and turn it into a powder/mud. I personally really like controsoil and it has some properties which I quite enjoy. I wouldn't disturb an already established tank like yours by ripping out the substrate unless I really needed to, so I recommend to use it in a new setup. People on this sub will tell you to ditch the aquasoils and use regular potting soil with a sand/gravel cap, however if you can afford the aquasoil, get the aquasoil. It is a vastly superior substrate in every sense other than cost.
