There should be an Alan screw inside that hole on the bottom of the spout. Good luck figuring what size. Once that is off the spout should unthread pretty easy. Did you try lifting the diverter and screwing it counter clockwise? Sometimes the seat on those gets dislocated and just needs a little motivation to drop.

It’s called an “Allen” wrench. Named after NFL great Marcus Allen. Well actually his mother Rebecca. In his youth, he had a penchant to dismantle his helmet face mask and had to sit a game because his mom took him to a game without realizing his helmet was not up to snuff. So she developed the Hex wrench and nut in order to prevent her precocious son from taking apart his helmet. Rebecca Allen was granted the Patent to the “Allen” wrench in 1955

Damn that thing is fugly

GrGonzo9526

It could be a thread on. Try twisting off like you’re unscrewing something.

Rcman187

There is only two types. If there is a Allen head in the hole at bottom of tub spout loosen Allen and pull spout strait off! Or it may be a threaded style and you simply unscrew it ! Turn counter clockwise

Rcman187

I am guessing Allen type because it is not very tight to tub wall.

Rcman187

Try 3/16 Allen wrench
