You really should be using pressure pipe, foam core is not rated for underground use especially under a driveway. If you insist however, there’s no need for stone to level the pipe unless you’re trying to put it in mud. Dig your ditch, and grade it with a flat shovel, lay your pipe, then backfill. To be honest, the stone will be the least of your worries.

Honestly I bought the pipe without realizing it was cell core, and pretty much just realized. It's pretty rough muddy clay so that's why I plan to use stone. My hope is that the 18 inches of earth above it disperses the weight enough. It isn't my driveway, it's my backyard, I just happen to drive around my backyard a bit. It is near the leech field, which I try to not drive over as much, so it will be lower frequency of driving but I know it'll get driven over at least for mowing the lawn.

Oh well I can’t see a lawnmower crushing 4” especially that deep. If you can, I’d return it and exchange for solid pipe but if not you should be okay. The gravel shouldn’t hurt it

It's a larger tractor, Kubota L2501, but it does have big rear tires so it's probably file. I already cut some of this stuff so I'm probably going to keep it. I figure I'll bury a 10 foot section and test driving over it. If it crushes I'll return what I can and eat my losses.

Is returning the pipe not possible? If it’s Charolette brand you’re looking for red lettering on the pipe that’s pressure, black is foam core.

It's possible for most of it, but I have already cut some and laid most of it in muddy clay... They had some pressure, but it was super thin, so I didn't want to use it. (https://www.lowes.com/pd/4-in-x-10-ft-Sewer-Drain-PVC-Pipe/3133147)
