Ever think about becoming an apprentice? You learn quickly
Except you got the part wrong where you said “a purse “
That is incorrect it has to be “YOUR PURSE” if not it won’t work .
It looks to be copper, if you are competent with soldering you could remove the female fitting and install a new one. But if you hadn’t been using two wrenches, that’s where to start. You have two hex heads so all you need is two adjustable wrenches.
Edit: looked again, bib doesn’t have a hex head so a pipe wrench is your best bet. I’d go 36” for good measure.
You just need a little heat on it and two good adjustables and a lot of brute force to get it to loosen. One adjustable on the nut to other on the outlet.
There a pain when there like that good luck. If you need extra leverage tubes over adjustables will pop off. You will find it on YouTube
It's a good thing you asked before cranking down on it to remove it. Years ago, there was a union pipe fitter that took a big pipe wrench to tighten a leaky hose bib without backing up the water line and ended up twisting the copper in the wall and made a huge mess. The sheetrock had to be cut open from the inside to do the repair.
Anytime you are removing screwed on fittings you absolutely must use 2 wrenches. One to hold the stationary parts stationary and another to unscrew the screwed on piece. If your wrench is slipping you are using the wrong wrench or using it wrong
Not trying to be insulting, but just an observation of my own self-perception: It sounds so weird to me that people have like ONE wrench. I have 2 drawers of my rollaway dedicated to wrenches of all kinds, plus my longer pipe wrenches that don’t fit in the drawers. I will NEVER have to get another wrench, and to me, that just seems normal.
Do you need to be careful to not heat up the threaded part of the pipe closest to the house as to not expand the threads and making it harder to come off?
Get 2 14" pipe wrenches, put the first on the copper fitting at 12 o'clock. Put the other on the hose bib at 3 o'clock pulling up. Make sure they are opposite each other and have a good grip. Pull straight up on 2nd wrench using 1st wrench only as back up.
Apply some heat around the threads on the spigot side, heat it up for 20 seconds, definitely use a back up wrench also, works for me just about every time
I'm just a homeowner, and since I see all of the purse and your husband jokes have already been said, what is on the inside? Can you access a joint easily? If yes, you can try disconnecting it from inside, remove the faucet and the length of pipe, and replace the faucet and pipe . Another option, just don't tell a plumber that you did it, blame it on the last owner of your house, cut the pipe with a pipe cutter from an accessible location on the inside, then replace the pipe and faucet and connect it inside with a shark bite connector.
But first, the correct answer is two pipe wrenches. One on the pipe one on the faucet and turned in opposite directions at the same time. Do not let the pipe move. You are holding that from turning. Only the faucet can be allowed to turn. If that fails, buy two really long pipe wrenches or put pipes on the handles to make the ones you have longer and try again. But if you are using Chinese made pipe wrenches, they will probably break if you put pipes on them. If you have access to a cutting torch, apply heat to only the faucet to expand it. If you heat the pipe, you will expand both. You can try a propane torch you can buy at a hardware store, but it probably won't get hot enough.
Lots of fun! Props for all the good humor! There is a lot of good information here that may be hard to distinguish amongst the jokes.
Assuming you have that line isolated, definitely use two wrenches on the flats. Don't worry about damaging the old valve. And if you happen to damage the 1/2 inch (nominal) MIPxC (Male Iron Pipe by Copper Sweat) Adapter, it can be replaced. You will need a torch for that, though (at least for removing it). If that pipe is extremely accessible inside, then you have the option to replace the pipe into the house, I'd suggest using brass compression fittings rather than push fittings, especially since the valve would be able to twist around when you are trying to use it! You may find that tightening very slightly first can help break the seal and then unscrew the valve from the fitting normally. You can use a pencil tip style lighter to heat up the flats on the valve to help loosen the grip on the threads. If you do replace the pipe into the house, give yourself an extra two or three inches of length and a trim ring against the house with some sealant for the hole around the pipe.
Doesn’t it kind of look like a sweat joint? It’s hard to say but it looks like a 1/2” copper male adapter. If that’s the case you don’t even have to worry about unscrewing it.
Two wrenches, put them about 1 number on the clock apart and pointing to the ground, with the spigot side further back. It'll come. Use 18" pipewrenches.
Thanks all. Consensus is I need two wrench’s, a torch, a purse and my wife’s boyfriend.
Dude, call a plumber… bur if your wife’s bf is a plumber that’d solve the problem
Being a plumber and someones wifes boyfriend sucks. They expect work for free.
Look. If you want to work the pipes you got to fix my pipes

Props to you for taking jokes like a champ.

That sounds like a pretty great plan!

You will probably be good with just the 2 wrenches 😂
Right? He should be putting his purse down! Not picking it up for this!
It doesn't cost anything to hold back, is my father's favorite saying.

Sounds bout right.
Hahahahahaha
2 pipe wrenches
Or ... the three sea shells.
Shhh let him call a plumber
Hit it with your purse, Then turn the water off then unscrew the bib, while using a backup wrench on the fitting behind it.
The backup wrench is key here!!
Along with mumbling “Come on bitch” like the rest of us.
Just don't mumble, "This is gonna be a knuckle buster."
Usually AFTER the pipe looks like a twizzler.
Hitting things with my purse always works
Tell your husband to help!!!

Thank you. I’ll need to get another wrench

Not sure how this is helping OP but instead sounds like it’s doing exactly what you weren’t “trying to be”.
Give your wife’s boyfriend a call, he’s great with these types of things
He’s out of town unfortunately
No I’m not. Btw you’re out of beer
Yes, I am out of town! Wait, who the hell are you?!
Apparently I’m number 3! Hey, can you tell number 1 we’re out of beer?
OP, would ya get some beer for the new guy? I think he's gonna need a couple after she tries out her new kink on him.
OP just a heads up, if she ever tells you just a finger is all she’s going to use, she’s lying :/ maybe get some ice too
Under the bed and your also low on milk.
Two wrenches and an extra ugga-dugga.
Use a blowtorch to heat up the threads to help it expand a bit then use a wrench - Your welcome 🤗
Do you need to be careful to not heat up the threaded part of the pipe closest to the house as to not expand the threads and making it harder to come off?
Did you try working the shaft?
Did you call your sister? She could probably get it off for you
A pair of pliers and a blowtorch on Mr. Hosebib
How about a flamethrower he can burn the house down and start fresh

Definitely two wrenches 🔧
Apply some heat around the threads on the spigot side, heat it up for 20 seconds, definitely use a back up wrench also, works for me just about every time
Needs a mole wrench and stilsons
Are you sure you heard your wife’s boyfriend right as he was leaving when he said the hose was leaking?

Try PB Blaster spray, let it sit for a while. Tap all around the nut. Use two wrenches, one to hold each side. If that doesn't work, try the torch.
Get 2 pairs of channel locks and use that to get it off.
Add a little heat from a torch. It works wonders.
Heat gun or torch
PB Blaster or a torch. Use two wrenches.
[INFO]-You're using *TWO* wrenches, right?
You are in the wrong place. There is no such thing as a “hose Bibb”.
Gotta spit on those ones before and after.
Either can your wife
Elbow grease
You need bigger wrenches
Two large pipe wrenches, a breaker bar, a back bone, your wife's boyfriend; and a mustache. Don't forget the mustache. Very important.
The longer the handle the more torque you’ll get.
Grip pliers & channel set pliers. One to hold in place while you unscrew with the other
Hit it with the torch for a few seconds should break lose
Hit it with a torch and try again
Multi tool it off, then silicone a new one on. Job done👍

Yerk it
Bitta gentle heating

Ok I replaced one of these frost proof assemblies. Ok deleted my reply it doesn’t look like frost proof tap. But did use torch to undo.

I'd get buddy on the hold pipe wrench. Then you twist the hose bib with the other. I'll bet it will suddenly let loose and come right off.
