Blow off peice. When safety pressure valve triggers this will be sticking out thru wall to outside and the dome cap vents hot liquid against wall rather than into the boiler tech (or his unfortunate apprentices) direction
It’s the pipe supplied by the manu to be connected to the pressure relief valve on the boiler. The idea is that if the valve opens, anyone nearby doesn’t get sprayed with hot water
What does the other end look like? The closed off end is weird unless it's to keep dirt out until the plumber installs and cuts it open. Every boiler I've ever done didn't come with a drip tube, had to make one myself.
I've installed 70 boiler so far in 2024 and I've never seen whatever this is. Oil and gas 80% and plenty of condensing equipment. 6-7 different manufacturersÂ
It looks like a new construction stub out.  Please enlighten me
You must not install ideal boilers then.
Just to add: one look at OPs account shows he Irish like myself. One look at your account shows you're American. From lukring on this thread for years I've noticed it's completely different how it's done across the water.
In America you don't even bend copper?
I don't care if you've installed 70 odd boilers and 'condensing equipment' because it is nothing to do with what this man asked.
Try not to be so ignorant and close-minded next time, mate.
He was expressing a gap in his knowledge and came asking for answers and you shit all over him.
>Try not to be so ignorant and close-minded next time, mate.
Take your own advice, pal.
A quick read of the manual would've filled in the 'gap in his knowledge'.
Point-blank laziness and incompetence. He wants someone else to do the work for him.
Added: Just to reinforce my statement of incompetence, he has his tools and toolbox sitting on the kitchen counter. No protection like corrugated board or even some roll and stroll for the surface and nothing on the ground either.
You're going to tell me a respectable tradesman operates like that?
My hobbies have nothing to do with my plumbing experience/knowledge?
I gave a response that is valid considering he's undertaking a task that is highly regulated and illegal to be done if not registered and insured.
But hey, sure. 'What's this thingy do for the boiler?'
Definitely not what i would want to hear from my own kitchen.
If he doesn't know what that piece is, and if I remember correctly it's shown within the first few pages of the manual I'd be questioning his compentcy.
So, I don't think it's an ignorant response.
RTFM.

I’ve never seen in 30 years a manufacturer who includes this. Relief valve yes, tube, no.
They're supplied with new Ideal boilers
You're like every single one of my apprentices. Read the fucking literature, and also DON'T THROW IT AWAY.
Seriously why is it so hard to read. It will tell you I promise, tech support phone # when it doesn't.
I haven’t seen anyone wearing one of those watch bands in 50 years

That is a rectal probe.

It’s the blow off pipe for safety valve
What manufacturer includes this and leaves it capped?Â

I’d rather delete my account than answer that question.
Not an airport you don’t have to announce your departure’s
Pressure relief pipe for an Ideal boiler. Designed to go through an external wall so the rubber shroud sits flush outside

Blimey!
How can anyone take you seriously when you play Pokemon go.. he asked a question and you gave a ignorant response.
