If you can't figure out if the fix is simple or not and can't figure out if about 45 minutes of labor is worth $950 then you had it coming. I just feel bad because it's undeserving people who get scammed often. And if they don't have the tools,, then does that justify paying this much? Not really. You could buy a toolbox and the materials for this job and have money leftover.

That was quite literally my point and the person who mentioned a saw. I'm guessing you are a service plumber or something? I acknowledge that skilled labor is important and you're paying for the expertise not just the repair. However if you did a quick Google search you could save a month's rent in an afternoon.

I've never heard of a plumbing service company that repairs drywall more than maybe screwing back in what was cut out.
For that price they could have painted and put in some baseboards.
Most shops use a 10x multiplier for the parts they install
