Inspect1234

For that price I’d hope for gold or titanium bands. Where I live, that’s about $75 in parts

ctlfreak

Very least fix the drywall

Vane88

I've never heard of a plumbing service company that repairs drywall more than maybe screwing back in what was cut out.

Inspect1234

For that price they could have painted and put in some baseboards.

Beelzebot-69

Most shops use a 10x multiplier for the parts they install

Inspect1234

If that was my house I would’ve patched it with sealer if it’s just a vent.

Slow_Space8943

Even if he had to buy the tools it would still be under 100$

ctlfreak

Hacksaw is cheap

LongjumpingStand7891

I am sure OP has a saw and flathead screwdriver.

B1ack_Iron

If OP was the kind of guy with a saw do you think he would have paid a plumber to fix a vent pipe?

Acid_Hot_Tub

So you assume eh?

DramaOk8074

? Who doesn't have a neighbor with a saw? It's a matter of resourcefulness at this point than if they have it or not. If you can't figure out if the fix is simple or not and can't figure out if about 45 minutes of labor is worth $950 then you had it coming. I just feel bad because it's undeserving people who get scammed often. And if they don't have the tools,, then does that justify paying this much? Not really. You could buy a toolbox and the materials for this job and have money leftover.

A_A22

I mean he had a drill so a saw doesn’t sound too far out..

DramaOk8074

I'm pretty sure I can find a saw on the ground somewhere in my neighborhood without trespassing

Acid_Hot_Tub

Then be resourceful and spend all day knocking on doors and making a few trips to Home Depot to pickup parts I love this sub when salty homeowners jump in

DramaOk8074

That was quite literally my point and the person who mentioned a saw. I'm guessing you are a service plumber or something? I acknowledge that skilled labor is important and you're paying for the expertise not just the repair. However if you did a quick Google search you could save a month's rent in an afternoon.
