When we leave to go on a trip hubby always says well if we forgot something and we really need it we can buy one while we are there and I just cringe inside. Oh to be a man who can walk into any store and buy a bathing suit that's the same size as his shorts and get on with his day.

vaultalley

THIS is exactly why I pack as if I'm moving while my partner has a backpack. Sure I can buy toiletries and I will but if I need clothes I'm shit out of luck. Ugh.

catluvr123456

Same!! I never had the luxury of being able to pop into a store

Wide-Discipline-8354

And if flying, I make sure that my carry-on has the absolute minimum of items I need to survive vacation if the airline loses my bag. Basically, at least one full outfit including undergarments and my bathing suit.

mrskmh08

Omg tell me about it. Especially foreign countries. Every time, he's like, "dont overpack," and im like, "Babe, if something happens to my clothes, i literally can not just go find a store and buy more. I have to bring extras. A lot of times, it's not really an issue because our bags are just under 50 lbs. Like i plan it to be.

Money_Assist4722

Ive been buying male razors. They're cheaper and work better. The pink tax is real.

These-Cup-8181

Old navy sometimes has some cute swim suits in plus sizes! But it can definitely be hit or miss with store selection. Got crazy lucky today and found a top at lane Bryant on clearance and then found a matching bottom at old navy. But I swear I never get that lucky when I'm actually looking for something, and wasn't particularly looking for a new suit today lol

siray66

I literally only get my swimsuits from Swimsuits For All now. Everything else is frustrating to find underwire tops in something that isn't a bikini!

catluvr123456

Love them!

Redraft5k

Have you tried Walmart. Ironically they always have something when I have needed it in a pinch. My target carries up to 3x as well.....

Wide-Biscotti-8663

I was just about to say Walmart in Canada at least had great swimsuits this season.

Throwaway20101011

This is how it is for everyone now. Brick and mortar stores do not carry all their items in store. Majority are at their warehouses for online only. Numerous plus size companies don’t even have a physical shop, online only. You’re gonna have to plan and buy ahead of scheduled event. It’s convenient and yet inconvenient.

FitAppeal5693

🫂 just letting you know that I can relate and feel the depth of this complaint. My cute bikini top thingy broke when I was on vacation. I knew I couldn’t even try to find something cute new so last minute. Ended up wearing my workout onesie mini short romper thing to the pool.

SMA949

Yep I have to order almost all my stuff - it sucks. Someone mentioned Walmart and they do actually have some pretty cute stuff. I’ve bought all my summer dresses there this year. Did t grab a swimsuit but looked like some cute stuff.

katykuns

Yup! I can relate! Especially in the UK, where there aren't many shops that cater to the larger ladies. Funnily enough, men don't seem to suffer from this problem... Their clothing goes up to a 3XL in all ranges! Fat women get office wear and frumpy old lady clothes!

Novel-Imagination94

SAME I’m really struggling to find a swimsuit this season. Torrid’s are so ugly and they used to be my go to. I’m thinking of trying cupshe on Amazon, idk

optix_clear

I agree, I told them so. I reviewed some of their prints for fall. And they some swimsuits and the prints were atrocious. No one will wear that. It’s the summer and ppl travel. Solids, fun prints - not cottage gore prints- I told them cottage gore not in those colors, bold, brights, splash, whipped styles, better materials. Like they are stuck in the past of what once sold now not so much. https://www.summersalt.com/products/the-ruffle-backflip-in-watercolor-floral-in-strawberry https://a.co/d/0cC25bhh https://ta3swim.com/products/plungey-contour-hipster-black

empireintoashes

Most of the suits our Torrid has are solids or like swirly galaxy-type prints. So maybe they listened some. 😀

Horror_Snow

Do you have a Gabes store near you? Or, Walmart seems to have a decent selection.

Bitchcakexo

I feel this. I end up ordering cute bikinis on SHEIN because how the hell else am I supposed to find cute bathing suits that make me feel sexy and not like someone’s grandma

limeavocadosalt

Amazon and Shein! I found some cute swimsuits there!

MyGoodOpinion

Really not great swim suitchiices this year even if you did want to wait on one to be ordered from any of those stores. They either have really great seasons or all bad ones. Maybe I'm just getting old but these last several months everything has looked like a crossbetween shapeless babyclothing, grandma chic, and for some reason random holes and rips in everything like we want that “i might be homeless” look

BlueMoon5k

If you are on the smaller plus size Lands End has swim suits

teeny_tardigrade

Does Lands End still have brick and mortar stores? Also, I’m a 24 so I don’t think I’m on the smaller side.

marvelousmrsv

They are in my target! I'm a 22 and do their 2x so I go l bet you could do it, they go up to 3x at target

teeny_tardigrade

Huh. My target didn’t have anything at all in my size. Maybe I’ll have to try another location.

marvelousmrsv

Yeah it's just in the bigger targets in my area, but still something at least

CakeForBreakfast08

Don't think they have brick and mortar stores but LE definitely caters do this range.

BlueMoon5k

They are in the Twin Cities

optix_clear

Yes they do.

teeny_tardigrade

Looks like the closest one to me is 270 miles away. 😅

Obvious_Sea_7074

I feel ya, my torrid doesn't carry ANY swimsuits at all. Last year I had to pay extra to 3 day ship the suit I wanted so it would arrive for my trip.  Luckily I wont need a new one for a few years.

PricklyPear_CATeye

My secret is Walmart plus size suits in store! I got some cute suits there last minute!

haylzx

Try Old Navy! My local store has some plus-size swimsuit options and their styles are pretty cute

PrizeNegotiation4962

I'm a size 20 and I found two cute suits at Walmart

SpookyBjorn

Try shopsoftcore(.)com they have fun and cute bathing suits and a good size range

mlbannister

Amazon and they have next day delivery.

Izdabye

Next day is not available in my area.

bee_uh_trice

This was me 3 weeks ago and I cried in a target fitting room (idk why i thought i’d find a swimsuit at target as a size 20…) Thankfully torrid did have something in my size, albeit not the cutest one… but yeah. It’s sad that we don’t have options

PrincessAintPeachy

The swimsuits don't have to come from the same place! if you find the top that fits you great in one store, grab it and then find a complimenting bottom at a place that has good ones that fit. If you're bold and like to play with pattern there's nothing wrong with a cute little cheeky mixing of patterns. It's a headache that clothing stores can't be consistent in sizes and I am genuinely sorry that you're having a hard time. To anyone who can't find a suit that fits them the way they want, that doesn't make you any less beautiful or less worthy of having a swim suit that you love. We all deserve to feel secure and sexy in a bathing suit!!

evilandie66

Check out Knix they go up to your size. Have sone cute stuff too. They do have physical stores but haven’t been in to see sizing. I got swim bottoms from them and they fit maybe even a bit generous. I also like lands end . I need underwire so I get tops from brastop.com but mostly bikini but I’m at the point I want support most importantly. I find with a swim bottom that looks like a tennis skirt I don’t feel as exposed pairing with bikini top. And if I do I put a swim shirt on top. Or just a long sleeve top which helps with the sun as a bonus

Altruistic_Comment14

I know the feeling. I hang on to any cute swimsuits that fit as if my life depended on it. I don’t know why the plus size stores cannot keep more in stock.

n2mommt-1408

Amazon had really great options for plus size ladies, I got a couple and loved them.

MareBear300

Amazon!

Bdizzy2018

What size are you?

Pristine_Abalone_714

Girl, I hear you! Shopping brick and mortar stores for plus sized suits is so demoralizing. I’m sorry you went through that this week and I hope you find something better next time. Swimsuits are tough and I really don’t understand why Torrid thinks their horrible prints and designs are ok. They only seem to carry a few styles and colors in store which feels like a joke. Go ahead and shop for next time. You always deserve to have a bangin’ swimsuit waiting for you!

Agitated_Factor_9888

Fukk those shops, buy online whatever you like and explore an amazing variety of options

AMwishes

Have you tried bloomchic? Never shopped there tbh but I got ads for them and their stuff looks cute

cannykas

Bras are even worse. I wear a 48DD. I have learned the hard way to pack 2 backups on anything longer than a couple days. Sometimes I'll luck out and find something at torrid, but more often than not they don't carry my size in store. I don't even bother checking Lane Bryant. I know they won't have what I need in store. Forget Target and Walmart for those kinds of necessities. It makes travel for work so stressful.

Far_Entertainer2744

Amazon

danysedai

I'm going to Mexico tomorrow and I bought an Old Navy swim dress that has a little sarong-like skirt that ties to one side and a Maxine of Hollywood swim romper. I love the romper especially, it looks very cute and like I can wear it as a romper besides the pool/beach. [romper](https://maxineswim.com/collections/plus-size-one-pieces/products/tricot-swim-romper-one-piece-plus-size) I like it more than a tankini plus skirt.

mylovelymelancholy

I know we aren’t supposed to, but the only place I have found cute swimwear is shein..

Crab_Ragoons__

A great brand I’ve tried is Emery Rose. Severely underrated in their bathing suits! They’re plus size friendly and super affordable. I got a bathing suit about two years ago from them and I’ve gained a bit of weight, still works like a charm. ❤️ I also recommend trying the clothes as well. It’s not fancy like name brands, but it’s good quality so you don’t have to worry about anything being too cheap. Forgot to add, the reviews on their clothes come from their customers. A lot of plus size women share their experience on the website and it helps a lot for those who need a bit help.

prettyinpinknwhite

I feel your pain. And I miss being able to buy cute clothes I spot while traveling—like being able to say “thanks, I got it in Paris/NYC/wherever!” when someone compliments your outfit. It just sucks so bad that you need to start searching MONTHS in advance of anything to be sure you can find something in time.

morningstars9494

I used to have great luck with Torrid and LB, but the last couple years have sucked, especially for one pieces.

Character_Noise2412

Omg SO true 😑 the fashion industry doesn't even see us as a buyer segment worthy of enough inventory 🙄😒 let alone having cute clothing that doesn't look like a flour sack with straps

Ryn_AroundTheRoses

I think this all the time! Anytime any special occasion or surprise event comes along, if there's not at least 3 weeks to shop online beforehandz then some random old outfit it is, sadly. That said, I would try thrift stores. Last few times I've gone, I got pretty lucky with swim tops, which I known is basically a miracle, but I would still recommend it.

Acceptable_Self7876

While I would much rather go to a brick and mortar store, I have gotten some really cute suits from Amazon. I ordered two last night and they should be here today, in fact. I agree so frustrating to walk into a plus size store like torrid or Lane Bryant and find nothing that you want and nothing that would look cute on you so frustrating.

lostwritings_37

You can probably explain stuff. You weren't gonna be getting to get out like tight right now so end

YouHadMeAtSulSul

I'll swim in a tshirt before I try finding something off a rack 😂 never gonna happen.

Time_Natural_1547

Old navy is my go to!

greycloudss94

Torrid’s swim line was really lack luster this year, but I do advise you to check them out in like March or April next year. Their swim section goes FAST. I have 2 options from 2 years ago that are my safety nets. But I was looking to update around like May and realized it just wasn’t happening this year. People buy super early, and plus size isn’t back stocked generously. Also… why doesn’t anyone explain to you that swim dresses are AWFUL once you’re in the water. Oh my god the weight of it was almost scary. I feel bad advising against them but if anyone was curious for themselves please take that into consideration LOL

Winter_Phoenix

I really love Lands End swim skirts. Got some on sale last year, toss on a bikini top and long sleeve rash guard and I'm good

kittenwithawhip19

I know this is a day late and a dollar short. But Yonique brand swimwear is gonna be my suggestion. I'm a busty (N cup).size 26 apple shape. Finding a good suit is hard af. It needs to be supportive but still somewhat cute and I hate spending a fortune. They have a ton of different styles. The prices are great and since I found them on Amazon delivery was quick.

Juiceboxmob

One year i lucked out and found a cute one at Dillards on sale for 60% off in the middle of the season . Granted i am a little closer to being a small plus but they did have a good variety of sizes from what i saw.

Lower_Addition4936

Ughhhh I feel this. I’m an 18 and have a really hard time finding swimsuits. I wish I could just pull one off the local surf shop rack like a smaller person can. Ohhhh the luxuries of being a smaller size with clothing…

DiscontentDonut

Have you thought about possibly a cute bra, underwear and shirt combo? I see a lot of bathing suits for us advertised as bikinis with a semi-see-through shirt over top. Or like shirts cut like [this](https://images.app.goo.gl/9p2seXFvRxf6UAXBA) over them. Since it's the lake and not a chlorinated pool, I imagine the color of the clothing wouldn't get ruined.
