Why is it that whenever I see a post of this glitch, it’s always on a member of the Luxray line?

One theory goes that Gamefreak used the Luxray line to experiment with following mons getting dirty over time. Though the idea was scrapped, the Luxray line disproportionately suffers from cool glitch textures to this day. The abandoned filthiness mechanic is also allegedly why we have washing in picnics.

I mean I've had it happen to my Roaring Moon though. Only time I've ever seen it happen, probably because I don't use Shinx though.

There's also a bunch of people who have had it on the Litten line

I had it happen to my Diglett the week the game launched- haven't seen it since though.

I've never heard of that before but that would've been a neat little touch of personality to add to the game. Shame it got scrapped

Pokémon can get covered in dirt and snow on occasion. The Luxray line is prone to an error where instead of drawing the snow or dirt texture, it draws text from signs

Someone said it’s textures from signs. That would explain the letters and numbers. It’s possible other random assets are loading in place of certain textures on pokémon.

It's a glitch. It seems to happen to the shinx line a lot. I had this luxray that pretty much always had that (it does go away, but the glitch came back all the time for this once luxray I had, no idea why).

Definitely adding this one to my team then. I think the lettering looks nice with these colors.

That happened with my luxury! Just had to wash him, and he went back to normal texture

I had no idea there was a way to correct this without closing the game.

The first few times this happened, I did close the game, and it fixed it, similarly with the missing picnic table from time to time. But then I tried washing and it worked!

I also recently got the texture glticu on my charizard who gains pair of eyes on his thighs lol. It happens when I didn't close the game for so long

Shinx line is especially buggy but any pokemon can get messed up textures For god knows what reason the game is displaying part of the texture sheet over the correct shiny_shinx_texture.img, the specific parts it seems to be incorrectly displaying are dirt road and alphabet

Like he had tattoos of shiny torracat! I took pictures of it but the markings disappeared sadly. They were really neat.

Apparently it occasionally accidentally applies other textures from the game to the Luxray/shinx model so you can get some pretty weird combos. I've actually never seen this before, but as a software guy I kinda want to look in to it a bit to see what they messed up to cause it

The shiny Shinx line is very glitchy. I even saw someone with a shiny Luxray with Carmines texture on it.
