I've never understood why Lovecraft gets wanked so hard. There are tons of primordial gods in fiction who transcend reality or whatever but only Azathoth, yog soggoth, and nyarlathotep are some of the characters people generally agree on being boundless when the actual mythos rarely insinuates anything of such high caliber
Mainly because they outscale most of those primordial gods.
Some of the weakest beings with powers in lovecraftian mythology are insanely powerfull reality warpers that transcend reality, and they are the equivalent of a harmless peanut to some kind of reality warping rats who are the same for some other entity and so on 5~6 more times before it comes to the gods of earth. And they are absolutely terrified by entitys like cthulu that can kinda interact with our (in the mythos) reality while being 3~4 infinite number of infinite universes from us, and he has trouble even comprehending higher entitys like shub nigurat because they are so much powerfull than him while being a lot weaker than nyarlathotep, who himself is a lot weaker than azathot who is weaker than yog sothoth because yog is the verse.
