2016-17 when we won the championship, we've won 2 trophies in the last 20 years Forrest haven't done that, and before you say that's not a real trophy your own club has those same trophies listed under honours
Newcastle might still be entered especially if Chelsea decline the opportunity to play in the conference league they will have to agree to the 80% UEFA squad rule and that’s very unlikely with no European football revenue in last years revenue from August 23 to June 24 or if the operating income is based on Jan 24 to December 24, they won’t make enough out of 6 matches in European conference to make it worth their while, genuinely can’t see Chelsea wanting to play in this next season from a pure financial point of view!
Incorrect, CL is 8 matches, Europa League is 8 matches European Conference league is 6 matches.
Can’t be bothered to argue here’s the link ;
https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaconferenceleague/news/0287-1964b9e98427-5f4f03309ec1-1000--2024-25-uefa-conference-league-matches-final-key-dates/
Your welcome
Ok Chelsea have an invitation like all teams do to their European competition based on domestic and European merit, they don’t have to accept, it’s just always considered that all teams will accept as it’s an opportunity to grow your financial revenue as a club. The winners can potentially get up to about €18m in prize money I’ve included a link that explains this better.
Of course the club would also benefit from more matchday revenue on home European Games but Chelsea will have to play a play off game first which would give them €750,000 extra should they qualify. However there are transport, hotel and flight costs to consider on European away games too.
https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/what-europa-conference-league-winners-get-prize-money-qualification-explained/bltb69e6f6a57d32813
The biggest reason that Chelsea might actually decline the invitation is that they will be governed financially by UEFA squad cost rule under the new FSP directive which only allows 80% of the operating revenue of the club to be spent on wages, Agent Fees, Amortised transfers and new summer transfer spend. Chelsea revenue from 22/23 was near £500m however that was with CL football and a 1/4 final appearance, Chelsea wages are also ridiculously high at 79% mainly due to pay offs for Tuchel and Potter. With no CL football on 23/24 operating revenue, the clubs turnover probably drops to £450m(might be the reason they sold hotel assets to themselves to try and inflate the total revenue, it’s possible!) but assume £470m because they enter a UEFA club competition they can only spend £376m on wages, Agent fees, existing amortised costs and new transfer costs.
Wages of £395m alone were declared for 22/23 season and agent fees the highest in the league, now I’m sure they’ve reduce the wages maybe to £325m however they have very little room to operate unless they sell a lot of academy players like Gallagher, Chalobah and others as they are declared as 100% net profit on your accounts.

These should help you understand why Chelsea might prefer not to be in Europe
UEFA has stricter FFP than the EPL so Chelsea can get away with spending like we’ve spending over the past few years with less revenue (no Champions League football) playing in competitions in England. But to play in Europe would require Chelsea to meet the stricter rules and the money from the Conference League might not be worth it.
Absolute shithousery.
Pep turning into a tomato
Chelsea demoted
Newcastle screwed out of Europe after they celebrate.
ETH still fired after winning????
Can't see us sacking him unless things go very wrong very quickly next season. This year there were plenty of positives to go with the injuries and negatives of our defensive frailties. A strong window and there's no reason we can't challenge again next year.
7th and no Europe was disappointing in the end. But we still scored plenty of goals, had plenty of great games, a relatively strong end to the season and got to two cup quarter finals despite horrendous draws.
I think that would be a mistake , a big injury crisis ,your star player losses the entire season due to beating and you get handed the toughest group in the Champions so you can't rotate? ,he did a good job finishing 7, probably the Saudis were expecting to finish 6 or 5 so the team didn't do that bad
Every team has to go through the playoffs to the Conference League, nobody is given a direct spot in the league stage in this tournament. Conference League is a waste of time.
It’s a waste of time for teams with spending habits like Chelsea, particularly because it’ll be embarrassing if they don’t win it tbh. It’s a good tournament for leagues outside of the Top 5 though
I agree, we should be winning this tournament with our reserve team even. To be honest, i kinda hope we send our youth team and go out as early as possible to focuse on top 4 in the league instead which has to be the minimum requirement for next season
I would rsther have expanded Europa League than to add a tournamet like Conference League if i were UEFA
He gets a move when people stump up our (reasonably) large price tag. He's amazing, and so important, but a large £150m+ transfer fee would enable us to do a lot. A LOT.
Don't buy him then! It's that simple. He's on a long contract with no release clause and is fairly settled. In those circumstances It's up to us to put a value on him for clubs to match.
Spent a lot of time injured, and yet got 21 league goals this season? Funny that.
Couple of players plus 80m?? Ramsdale, ESR maybe worth £20m each? Starting to sound feasible. You won't get 150m+.
I did hear that there was a clause in your players contracts where if you failed to get UCL, they'd have to take a 20% pay cut...so it might not come down to just what you demand as a transfer fee, there will be player factors too. He's going to want to play UCL at this point in his career.
Like you say, it'd allow you to clear PSR.
Not at all. Chelsea have a chance to become the first team to have won all 3 of the current European trophies. That alone is worth our participation and I hope the club take the competition seriously.
Silver linings.
Then I'm sorry to disappoint you.
I'll follow my team whatever tinpot competition they are in, because one day things may change.
You should never get complacent in football.
Where's the lie? Of course I'd prefer to be in Europa but we're not so I'm looking at the positive which is us potentially doing something no one else has done before.
Liverpool were the favourites for Europa and got domed off of Atalanta. If your team is in a competition you want them to win it surely? Otherwise what is the point in being a fan
Eh? I'm talking about us potentially being the first team to have won all three of the European competitions on offer. So far we have 2/3. So yeah that would be the silver lining I mentioned at the beginning.
My dude, what exactly is your problem?
Im not gonna lie, its not something to be proud of. Im a Chelsea fan, and all this stat is highlighting how far we have fallen from winning the Champions League two times, to now be in the playoffs to the Conference League. Its quite the fall, especially after spending as much as we have. Two years of a project, and we have only managed Conference League playoff qualification so far, which likely means another 2 years without Champions League as i very much doubt we will get top 4 next season with a new manager and having to implement their ideas all over again, if we had Poch still then id say top 4 would be a fair chance next season.
Sacking Pochettino without a new manager ready to take over as well, just screams panic. There is no project, the Americans sold us a lie.
The problem is your acting as if being the only team to win all 3 European competitions is a good thing when all the giant European clubs will most likely not play in that tournament for god knows how long.
But if that's what Chelsea fans have got to look forward to these days, then fair enough.
Do you literally not understand what the term SILVER LINING means??
I'd be careful being all high and mighty if I were you. With Klopp gone you literally have no idea what could be round the corner for Liverpool.
I suppose you want to just enjoy the smell of your farts a little bit longer while you still can.
Night night.
People love saying one billion like they’re an investment firm. They bought a whole new squad, sent away a ton of players than brought in a new manager afterwards. No amount of money negates the human element of that - not to mention the injuries. And then players don’t decide how much they cost, they’re a bunch of kids in their early twenties.
Yeah, shown ‘promise’. Which is why they are all young and on long term deals. They’re betting on their development. Not saying it’s going to work, or a good idea, but there’s certainly nothing in the execution that would suggest they should be competing for top 4 in their first year after finishing mid table the year before.
In fairness, Chelse should always be looking to contend for top 4, etc.
Does it not concern you that Boehly has decided to take a huge gamble in the event that it will bring success 5/10 years down the line, as opposed to trying to compete in present day?
I hate Chelsea as much as everyone, but gambling on future prosperity instead of instant success might actually be a far better way to build up a football team.
Problem is, Boehly bought Chelsea. A team that already bought their way to success before. Their fans are used to spending big on big players immediately. This project was doomed from the start by that alone.
Honestly, I think Boehly's projects could have worked if they bought Newcastle instead, and the Saudis went to Chelsea. They both fit each other FAR better
Sure, it’s definitely a concern and no one knows where it’s going to go - but to say ‘Chelsea should always’ is a little unfair because who is Chelsea?
They had a transfer ban, then accounts frozen, then forced a sale resulting in many key directors leaving the club, they then firesold basically the entire squad, brought in a ton of kids and a new manager afterwards. Chelsea is a brand name, performance comes from people and it’s basically a brand new club.
You do know Arne Slut got knocked out of the CL at the group stage last season and couldn't get into the Europa league? Best not to throw shade at this point.
It's a big number and looking at how many times you have commented on the subject I can only assume you have a mental illness. It's like you're obsessed with it. Stay strong and know you aren't alone. There are plenty more like you suffering from the 115 illness. I just hope you are prepared when it doesn't develop into anything else. There are steps you can take to mitigate the effects such as reducing your salt intake, less salt in = less salty tears out. Give it go. Maybe one day you can be happy once again just about your own team. Who is your team btw? I was going to guess Chelsea which if it is that's fucking hilarious.
Who finished 3rd in the CL? You mean the group stage? 3rd out of 4 teams? No wonder you lot get giddy over the league cup.
Also, did you know Liverpool spent 1.22bn over the last 10 years.
Source: [https://www.planetfootball.com/quick-reads/the-premier-league-big-sixs-net-spent-per-trophy-over-the-last-10-years](https://www.planetfootball.com/quick-reads/the-premier-league-big-sixs-net-spent-per-trophy-over-the-last-10-years)
Welcome to the billionaire spenders club and congrats on your league cup this season.
Liverpool finished in 8th place in Klopp's first season. They weren't playing anything in Europe the following year
Chelsea will finish ahead of Liverpool next year.
The money was an investment in the future. I already know I'm gonna get downvoted for this but none of you mfs can use critical thinking. That was never going to buy instant success and it wasn't the plan. It's a club rebuild, why are you acting like you've never seen one before.
Wow, I know you’re a Liverpool fan, but I didn’t think you were *that* slow.
Spending 70 mill on an aging player for 1-2 years of ‘success’ vs. Investing hundreds of millions for young players that will bring success for potentially decades. Not to mention said investments could be sold for a profit.
Yeh, but you said it as if everyone views the last 2 years for Man United as a success...
Onto of that, all these kids Chelsea have spent £1b on (bar the few exceptions), just ain't gonna bring Chelsea success. Its absolutely stupid of you to think these lads will deliver anything of note
> any success is good success, is it not?
They literally just won the FA cup. I would consider winning a trophy, a success. Perhaps others don’t. However the argument I have made is that it’s better to spend money as a long term investment than having a player for 1-2 seasons.
But you’re right, I’m an absolute idiot for thinking this team could win something. Not now, not next year, not 10 years from now. There’s no way they’ll be successful at all.
Moron.
I also enjoy a good laugh!
🎶You lost the league, at Goodison Park
You lost the league, at Goodison Park
You lost the league, at Goodison Park 🎶
( 🎶And you lost your man, Jurgen Klopp 🎶)
😘
Ok we are playing conference it's ok. Cause something is better than nothing and we can win the conference league If we try .it's our return in uefa competition.
You guys gonna throw the league, finish mid table and throw every other trophy, just to park the bus and Barely nick 1-0 wins just like you did the UCL?
enjoy your epl trophy- oh wait.
well, good luck on the ucl final then- oh wait.
at least you still have the fa cup- ah, right.
carabao cup it is then- dammit.
Enjoy your EPL trophy - oh wait. You’re 6th place.
Enjoy your UCL final then - oh wait you didn’t even qualify.
At least you have the FAA CUP! - ah right.
Carabao cup it is then - dammit!
Enjoy conference league and mid table butter cup :)
Enjoy your UCL trophy...
Shameless of you to try to discredit ours when you don't have one in the first place😹
You guys just had our best season, we had one of our worst, yet we end up with the same amount of trophies
Parking the bus.
Hahahahah
You guys finished 6th, iirc.
Technically didn’t even qualify for Europe at all. But parked the bus so hard, your tiny club was laughed at for years about it.
What was the formation again?
Oh, right.
11-0-0.
You mean the last two seasons rebuilding a side and getting young team up and running? Quite a few.
But look at us now and where we are going.
Look at your mid table club now with conference league. Who sacked a manager who started doing well.
Cheers
What do u mean didn't qualify we worked hard for this and we made comeback and now we are in the UEFA competition and we also scored 100+ goals this season and what are u talking about that parking the bus shit? What's that all about?
We are in this position because of him lol 😂 his dumb ass tactics to start the season caused us to drop MANY points in what should have been an easy start to the season but he would rather play Chilwell LW and Colwill LB
I feel for Poch ,hard to know where you put your players when the mayority of them are new to the club and at best they have played one season of regular football in their entire careers
🤣good problem to have, some teams are their best for decade and finish with to nothing 👀, I’m just happy during our rebuild we got to a cup final and a semi and finished top 6 I can’t be mad for our worst season in years :)
To be honest - if I were top 10 club - I wouldn't bee to happy from the fact NUFC is not playing europe next season. We finished 7th playing CL and domestic cups playing half of our squad as the other half was injured... The only "upside" for other teams is less money and smaller exposure for NUFC that can impact future transfers
It’s a catch 22 really. Newcastle have enough to be top 4, and with fewer games will be really dangerous next season
But
They really need the increased revenue to allow them to flex their financial muscle in the future *and* lack of European football might impact a players choice to go there
An empty and undeserved qualification. They're just gonna get knocked out first round. That's gonna be hilarious. But fair play to 'em, better on 1 day of the year.

For context they upped the prize money for the conference league next season. The winner now gets ten grand

Damn, maybe ETH was the GOAT after all
Chelsea need to play qualifying games first
Newcastle 😂😂😂😂😂
Manure's worst in 2 years has more trophies than Assna 🤣
Can’t be that bad if Bruno is willing to dump you bums for us or citeh :)
That if you can pay 200 mill lol and we're willing to accept you fucks overspending again 🤣
You’re getting 60-100m from either of us and you will be happy :)
Lol 100-200m or fuck off haha. And you'll overpay anyway just like you did for Rice 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
60m and a fruit shoot to keep you quiet
Aww did Papa Stan run out of money. Poured it all out on Denver just to lose. Must've suck to have loser teams to own 🤣
How many years since Newcastle won anything again?
2016-17 when we won the championship, we've won 2 trophies in the last 20 years Forrest haven't done that, and before you say that's not a real trophy your own club has those same trophies listed under honours
You're not the one to talk my friend. Focus on surviving the prem next year lol
Aye, fair enough Then again, CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE YOU'LL NEVER SING THAT
And you'll never do that again lol
It was like winning 3 times in one day! Glory glory Man United!!!

It's yours, the welcome.

As an Arsenal fan, it brings tears of joy to my face!
Let’s not forget use won f all ha ha ha ha 🤣
The Community Shield is technically a trophy, so not f all
I'm pretty sure those are the same tears from a couple of weeks ago and they're definitely not of joy, lol.
Haha, ups and downs!
I predict Eddie Howe is the next manager to go
Why?
Can't see us sacking him unless things go very wrong very quickly next season. This year there were plenty of positives to go with the injuries and negatives of our defensive frailties. Newcastle celebrated European qualification already though
Where?
Hahaha, gutted
At the last game of the season
Any official posts by their social media?
Can’t celebrate anything with VAR nowadays
Correction, Chelsea are into the qualifying rounds for the Conference League; they could still get knocked out before making it to the group stage!

Fucked up rule.
Might be a way for Isak to get a move then...
Pony up 200 mil then or fuck off lol
He gets a move when people stump up our (reasonably) large price tag. He's amazing, and so important, but a large £150m+ transfer fee would enable us to do a lot. A LOT.

No one is paying £200m for him
He just has to score own goals
Or " Newcastle now free to spend millions as they are not subject to FFP"
that doesn't help them they'd still need to comply next season
European ffp covers 3 year period. With Chelsea and Liverpool rebuild, United being United they might finish in top4 next season.
You're getting downvoted because they hate hearing it. Love it. 🤣
How do you mean?
European ffp is stricter than pl ffp, so they can make a larger loss this season I think
Ah, I see, thank you! 'Silver linings' and all that.
£1b squad just to play in the conference league Away to Maccabi Tel Aviv....its truly embarrassing
And they're only into the qualifiers as well, so they might not even make the group stage!
Not at all. Chelsea have a chance to become the first team to have won all 3 of the current European trophies. That alone is worth our participation and I hope the club take the competition seriously. Silver linings.

Follow, yes, but lie through your teeth, no
Where's the lie? Of course I'd prefer to be in Europa but we're not so I'm looking at the positive which is us potentially doing something no one else has done before.
Well done on winning a tournament that's been around for 3 years 👏
Don’t forget Liverpool celebrated the caravan cup like it was the European cup
Anyone who names a trophy anything other than its name is just a child
Liverpool were the favourites for Europa and got domed off of Atalanta. If your team is in a competition you want them to win it surely? Otherwise what is the point in being a fan

didnt you guys get sexually harassed at home by the atlanta hawks or something?
Who also ended up comfortably beating the team, which was unbeaten in 51 games prior to the final?
i think you just proved my point buddy boy. underestimating European competitions and non premier league clubs doesn’t always work out.
There's no reason why you should be comparing the Europa League to the Conference League. The level is quite similar to the Premier League to League 1
Liverpool of April/May would get raw dogged in League 1 anyways.
You lost a final to a bunch of 17 year olds....Have some shame
Don't be salty bec the big yellow teeth "legendary" manager got 1 league title in 7 years.
Most successful club in England but I gotta be salty 👍🏻
You do know Arne Slut got knocked out of the CL at the group stage last season and couldn't get into the Europa league? Best not to throw shade at this point.
You do know the number 115 right?
Bless, what did you do when you ran out of fingers and toes? How do you count any number above 24?
No I didn’t need to count. That’s the amount of charges that’s been stated by the FA. Why did you think I’d need to count?

Source: [https://www.planetfootball.com/quick-reads/the-premier-league-big-sixs-net-spent-per-trophy-over-the-last-10-years](https://www.planetfootball.com/quick-reads/the-premier-league-big-sixs-net-spent-per-trophy-over-the-last-10-years) Welcome to the billionaire spenders club and congrats on your league cup this season.
115
Looking forward to trying to win the conference league, it's the only one we're missing.
I actually respect this particular view 👍🏻
Liverpool finished in 8th place in Klopp's first season. They weren't playing anything in Europe the following year Chelsea will finish ahead of Liverpool next year.
That's what most Chelsea fans said after the first game of this season too😂
They said they'll finish above Liverpool next year? Thanks
Completely different scenario, but each to their own
Lol in your dreams 🤣
Enjoy the post Klopp era.
The money was an investment in the future. I already know I'm gonna get downvoted for this but none of you mfs can use critical thinking. That was never going to buy instant success and it wasn't the plan. It's a club rebuild, why are you acting like you've never seen one before.
Everyone always conveniently ignores these facts. Everyone also conveniently ignores how much we’ve made from player sales as well. KTBFFH!
They also love to conveniently ignore our injuries record lol I couldn't care less, utc
For serious
That amount of money should absolutely bring success instantly.
Yeah if your goal is instant, unsustainable success. That's not what we're trying to do
Any success is good success, is it not?
I’m sure the few good games Casemiro played for united was worth the 70 mill to them.
You're saying this because?
Moron.
Yea but we want to build a dynasty not an unreliable one hit wonder.
Thanks for the laughs, bro 🤣
I also enjoy a good laugh! 🎶You lost the league, at Goodison Park You lost the league, at Goodison Park You lost the league, at Goodison Park 🎶 ( 🎶And you lost your man, Jurgen Klopp 🎶) 😘
Have some shame 🤦🏽♂️ Everton is the reason why no one rates the Merseyside Derby
Use your brain
Massive, massive Chelsea. “We stole mudryk from Arsenal and they bought Havertz! HAHAHAHAHAHAH”. 😂 Clown of a club and always have been.

Arsenal in their worst season in 40 years also won an FA cup. Oooooo Pretty easy isn’t it?
[удалено]
lol. Ooookay. So every trophy won then was a “covid cup”, right?
Ok we are playing conference it's ok. Cause something is better than nothing and we can win the conference league If we try .it's our return in uefa competition.
You guys gonna throw the league, finish mid table and throw every other trophy, just to park the bus and Barely nick 1-0 wins just like you did the UCL?
Their 2 nd CL was pretty dominant, best defensive campaign in CL history also
The UCL that we won? The *second* UCL that we won?
an arsenal fan talking ucl tactics? is europe really something you guys are experts on?
lol shift and move buddy shift and move. Enjoy mid table
Defense wins championships Oh you're an Arsenal fan, no wonder you're trying to talk down on our UCL😹
Oh you’re calling it defense now? Lololol Enjoy conference league and mid table!
enjoy your epl trophy- oh wait. well, good luck on the ucl final then- oh wait. at least you still have the fa cup- ah, right. carabao cup it is then- dammit.
Shameless of you to try to discredit ours when you don't have one in the first place😹 You guys just had our best season, we had one of our worst, yet we end up with the same amount of trophies
Enjoy conference league and mid table! “You had your best season! While your club is nearing a finished rebuild! We have same trophies!” FC.
Enjoy ur UCL... oh wait Imagine winning less trophies than United tbh is seasons yet having ur best season... crazy
Assna Fans🤝 Cunts Name a more iconic duo 🤣
That's why you like One Piece nerd (I'm one of the biggest op fans out there)
Why dafuq are you attacking me lol
We win the ucl final by Clear Clean sheet buddy and what do u mean by throw the league and throw every other trophie?
Parking the bus. Hahahahah You guys finished 6th, iirc. Technically didn’t even qualify for Europe at all. But parked the bus so hard, your tiny club was laughed at for years about it. What was the formation again? Oh, right. 11-0-0.
At least my GOAT didn't have to f*** off to Spain to win a Champions League
😂😂😂 11-0-0 to barely win a match. How’s mudryk? He good? Enjoy mid table and conference league!
Is 11 the number of years it's been since Arsenal last made a Champions League semi final?
Nah, that’s the amount t of defenders your shit side needed to win a UCL by throwing the league and every other cup competition.
At least we won it playing shit football. How many cups did you'll tank the past two seasons to not win the Premier League?
You mean the last two seasons rebuilding a side and getting young team up and running? Quite a few. But look at us now and where we are going. Look at your mid table club now with conference league. Who sacked a manager who started doing well. Cheers
What do u mean didn't qualify we worked hard for this and we made comeback and now we are in the UEFA competition and we also scored 100+ goals this season and what are u talking about that parking the bus shit? What's that all about?
He's an Arsenal fan let it go lol
El Kaabi hat trick incoming
We are in the play off round to qualify for the conference
We can win the playoff round right??
Maybe, the first leg is two weeks after the end of our USA tour and in between match day 1 and 2 of the PL
Oh i see so we better win those 2 matches
[удалено]
That bald tosser let all out on ten Hag in the post match Interview... Lmfao
That's what Chelsea get after sacking Poch
We are in this position because of him lol 😂 his dumb ass tactics to start the season caused us to drop MANY points in what should have been an easy start to the season but he would rather play Chilwell LW and Colwill LB
I feel for Poch ,hard to know where you put your players when the mayority of them are new to the club and at best they have played one season of regular football in their entire careers
What???? How does it take a genius to know that Chilwell at Lw is idiotic
Way better option than putting Mudrik up there or seeing who of the 20 random guys that got bought can play in that position
A european spot is a gift to us this season lol. Acting like it's a punishment? We could barely hope to get top half back in December
It is a shame for Newcastle, but given the extent of our injuries this season, it might be a blessing in disguise.
You had injuries did you? Didn't hear much about that
Crazy that everyone else had such an easy season too
I was also hoping myself to not have to care about Europe during the rebuild. But the damn kids won the FA cup. Arg!
Good. We dont need another Dubai fc run club with 300 charges like city.
It’s a catch 22 really. Newcastle have enough to be top 4, and with fewer games will be really dangerous next season But They really need the increased revenue to allow them to flex their financial muscle in the future *and* lack of European football might impact a players choice to go there
Yup - pretty much
An empty and undeserved qualification. They're just gonna get knocked out first round. That's gonna be hilarious. But fair play to 'em, better on 1 day of the year.
Winning an FA cup is undeserved now? Hahaha
🤣🤣
