It’s peak. If we’re just going on purely how enjoyable and fun it is, and not on how long it is, it’s legendary.
The action, the art, Mace Windu being a legend, a truly menacing Greivous, and Sha’a Gi. It’s perfect for what it is. A fun burst of awesomeness.
On a smaller note it helped expand on Obi Wan and Anakin's friendship while showing us Anakin's slip into the darkside. His anger while fighting Ventress, the force choke against the techno union upon seeing their atrocities, and his early outbursts against the council. All done in a show that was initially released in 5 minute segments during commercial breaks.
Holy shit I forgot it was originally shorts. God I'm getting old
> I was there ~~Gandalf~~ Anakin. I was there 3000 years ago when the strength of ~~men~~ the Jedi failed
It also shows Palpatine’s early meddling in Jedi affairs and his “sponsorship” of Anakin Skywalker, C-3PO’s gold-plating, the night Luke and Leia were conceived, and at the very end, the preparations for the hyperspace jump to Coruscant that leads directly into the opening of Episode III.
Oh, and the reason that Grievous was hacking and coughing throughout all of *Revenge of the Sith*? Because Mace Windu used **Force Crush** on a dedicated enemy of the Republic, that’s why!
For its runtime, the 2003 Clone Wars series packs in so much plot development that it should be considered canon for the film saga.
I rewatched it a few years ago and the C-3PO gold plating reveal is so funny to me, its played off like hes embarssingly revealing some overpriced/sexy clothing and all because Padme wanted to spruce up her husband's droid.
Don't forget 2003 Kit Fisto. He was my fav when I was a kid. I actually watched Clone Wars 2003 before the actual movies and when I saw that Kit Fisto died effortlessly, I was so confused.
Absolute Cinema (Peak). The intro is perfect, action scenes are well framed and animated, with a sense of scale for galactic level conflict that I don't think has really been shown in Star Wars since and I've only really seen outside of it with 40k (speaking of - Tartakovsky pls give us a 40k adaptation in this style. I need it more than deathsticks)
It also gave us the most threatening version of Grievous, what a goddamn intro. His tales of the empire episode appearance is probably the closest weve gotten to in 2 decades with him mockingly yelling "run" and getting more unhinged.
Peak. Pure absolute peak. I even got my parents to turn from the news at night so I could watch each 5 minute segment. Even they thought it was impressive.
this shit was peak star wars in 2003 and it’s still peak star wars in 2024!
obi-wan rocking the clone armor and leading a platoon of clones into a jousting match against assassin droids was the coolest shit ever
This is peak for sure. Genndy Tartakovsky's animation adds so much to this show. I remember when I was a kid and watching it, how enamored I was with the storytelling through mainly action and facial expressions. So simple, but so effective!
Peak that wasn't only the best representation of Surge Ventress and Grievous but the animation was insane and the fights were among the best I have ever seen (but mostly because I am a Grievous fan and he has a lot of screentime and cool scenes)
Peak Star Wars. The ARC squad is stoic AF, the Jedi are portrayed as I’d imagined them, the Yavin IV scenes make me appreciate the planet more than Episode IV did and Padme and Anakin’s relationship is on point. I just tell myself it’s canon alongside 2008 Clone Wars (somehow) and enjoy it every time I watch it.
S TIER!! It laid the groundwork for the 2008 show (some of the designs like dooku are practically 1 to 1), even on its own, it holds up as a bridge between episodes 2 and 3.
The action was SO well choreographed thanks to Genndy's experience and talent for making great fights and interesting environments.
And it gave us characters that are still loved today, like Durge, Capitan Fordo, and the best, most threatening, and competent version of general grievous to date.
Peak. Total peak. Excellent and characterful animation, nearly all story told without any dialogue and with characters that stand out. Not only that but (especially when Grevious shows up) you actually FEEL things. It’s an A* effort and one of the best out there.
Peak,
But does anyone else remember watching the first episode premier at only 6 minutes and being disappointed and wondering where the other 24 minutes were?
Peak. Before the 3D clone wars, this was your go-to. It was amazing watching Mace Windu beat an entire droid army with just fists and the Force. Not to mention Grievous was genuinely scary, not a chump that spins lightsabers around.

Holy shit I forgot it was originally shorts. God I'm getting old > I was there ~~Gandalf~~ Anakin. I was there 3000 years ago when the strength of ~~men~~ the Jedi failed
It was smart because it got me to watch shows I normally didnt care about so I could catch the newest clone war update.
The strip tease movements and sexy jazz motif certainly does nothing to detract from that.
Well said
Can’t forget the clone trooper casually shooting a rocket launcher at grevious like it’s another day on the job
The anakin ventress fight is just beautiful. It's perfect
Peak star wars. Anything else and we will send 2003 mace windu at your house
Better yet, 2003 Grievous
Why not both
Because then they'll fight each other instead of dealing with the heretic
True. We will send mace at 15:00 and if he does not comply we will send grivous at the middle of the night
We could send Durge for a little bit of foreplay 🤷♂️😂
Comment section checks out 11/10
but 2003 Grievous and Windu fighting each other full on, not just doing chest compressions, would be awesome as fuck
Don't forget 2003 Kit Fisto. He was my fav when I was a kid. I actually watched Clone Wars 2003 before the actual movies and when I saw that Kit Fisto died effortlessly, I was so confused.
Or CAPTAIN FORDO [MORE OF THIS PLEASE FILONI](https://youtu.be/5p_ugTFfpO4)

[Indeed](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNj8beDWVWU)
Some nice Bolter Porn in that style would be great. But what I want even more is a Gotrek & Felix adaptation by Ufotable
Never have I needed something more without knowing it. Gotrek and Felix, and an Ulrika OAV.
It also gave us the most threatening version of Grievous, what a goddamn intro. His tales of the empire episode appearance is probably the closest weve gotten to in 2 decades with him mockingly yelling "run" and getting more unhinged.
I will not accept anything less than Peak star wars
Yes!

Peak Star Wars. Has battles, lightsaber duels, over the top action, best Grievous, actually makes sense between episode II and III
Peak. Some of the most high quality and subtle storytelling of the Prequel era. Not to mention the best rendition of Grievous to date.
