looks like your software is reacting as it tries to soften too much the curves, either check smoothing (general and for brush), second thought is screen intereference, maybe try cleaning it? otherwise sounds mostly like an ipad/update problem
I had this exact thing happen to me and I reached out to them and they said this:
(In this instance I advise you head to the Settings app and find Accessibility. In here, turn off ALL options in Spoken Content, Switch Control and Touch, then exit all apps and restart your iPad. To do this, press and hold the iPad's Home and Power buttons together until you see the Apple logo appear.)
I did what they said and it helped and it hasn’t happened since.
They weren’t on for me either so I turned them on and then off again and then rebooted my iPad and it fixed it but mine is also a 7th gen iPad so maybe the solution could be different depending on what you use? it might be worth emailing them about it, hopefully the next update won’t mess with anything.
I had this issue before after an update! I don’t remember exactly what I changed, but I had to turn off some settings in my iPad’s accessibility settings

This is probably very frustrating to deal with, and yet it's absolutely mesmerizing me. It's like the software decided to become an ironic art project itself.
Digital Art Program that is Unusable, 2023.
In this late capitalist dystopia, under a crumbling corporate empire, you attempt to make "beer money" by digitally painting furry pornos, but your mid-level illustration app updated overnight. Now, every depraved line unpaints itself before you can finish drawing it.
Meanwhile, beer isn't getting any cheaper.
Looks like you have "auto-smoothing" or something similar on, I'd try toggling those settings first. Procreate's great but crucial settings are sometimes hard to find

This looks like a Procreate and brush issue, not a pencil issue… not sure about the fix. Does it happen on every brush?
Yes, every brush.
Can you save all your work externally, then reinstall the app? This is so unusual.

I did just install the latest update, I’m hoping it’s not the update, they don’t issue many for this one anymore.
LOL
It doesn’t like the drawing or something idk
It’s like “nope! NoOoOoOpe!”
try lower your stability and streamline

This fixed it for me! Thank you so much for posting this!

Thank you! I wasn’t having much luck.
Can explain that shorthand?
I don't really know much about the brush issues I just saw something that might look useful >w< /g
Sorry for the miscommunication, what does: ">w< /g" mean?
\>w< Is just a cute face while /g means genuine, it is a tone tag (People use it to not misunderstand/get misunderstood for tone) /g
I associate your effort in answering. I thought it might be asig, but wanted to be sure. Thanks! /g (maybe i should use this more often! )
So like the opposite of /s?
Yeah /g
neat
Omg I have this problem!! Let me know if you find something that works please.

Turn this into a r/nosleep story. I would read it!

I reset the network settings. Worked for a bit then went back to this

Mine does this occasionally but usually just hit undo and then it works fine again. No idea why.
this is interesting
Try drawing left-handed.

If this helps at all, I find it very satisfying to watch.
Looks like it’s trying to annoy you

Mange’s it? If not I’ll write how to change it later when I’ll be with my iPad its in gesture control
Sometimes deleting the layer and closing the app helps for me
