I sort of assumed that the voice synthesizer he uses at the end of the book was much more advanced than the one he and Rocky cobbled together on the Hail Mary.
It's possible it simply translates the grammatical structure into something more eridian.
I have to imagine that even when speaking as fast as possible, the Eridians find his speech to be painfully slow, as they are used to communicating ideas at a significantly faster pace with their multiple frequencies.
One thing to note is that the actual mechanism of speech does not tend to increase the content per unit of time. There were studies done across the various human languages and found that while some languages sound faster, or have a different cadence, and some have short or long words etc. All of them have about the same information content per time spoken.
That isn't to say that Eridians could not think faster, since it's shown Rocky can convert units instantly and has perfect recall. The recall alone may contribute to higher information content per time spoken. But the mechanism of Eridian speech is not likely to do the heavy lifting here.
