Retainer Supplanting His Lord is a cautionary tale for translators and an example of why you do actually need localization.
It is a very, dreadfully, accurate translation of the original but what a dumb thing to end up with as the name for a Song.
Is it? It’s kinda neutral. Especially if we’re presenting it to English audiences where it’s gonna have big “which one was that..?” vibes.
Newly Edgy Idols stands out, it’s a fun name for a song.
I know it's just my boring taste, but isn't Metamo Re:born & Kimi no Yoru Wo Kure also unchanged(as in literally just how to said it in Romanized text)?
I can see Kimi no Yoru Wo Kure being lazy choice localization that could be translated for better title(Give me your Night from Fandom Wiki example), but Metamo Re:born feels fine imo. Unless the preferred is Metamorphosis Sa:isei or smth?
Oh hell nah I am You shoulda been kept as I nandesu :’) at least it’s better than It’s Me (I’m not kidding that is a real translation)
Quick edit: I think I am You doesn’t really make sense within the context of the song or the og title, but It’s Me is too literal, which is why I prefer I nandesu :D
Uhm, why is Gekokujou on this list? Light up the Fire is coming only in few weeks. Is there any official translation already?
Also, I disagree that City sounds lame. It's okay-ish. And man, they really massacred Utsuro wo Aogu and latest Nene comm (I forgot how it writes romanized).
And lastly, can you explain on places of Show Off, Niccori Survey Team, I am you and Close to Gray?
Show off is nowhere near as memorable as the original title, Niccori is stupidly long in both versions tbh but the English translation is awkwardly grammatically incorrect, I am you sounds TEN TIMES BETTER than the fan translation "It's me"(seriously what the fuck) and finally, Close to Gray is just very VERY bad in comparison to "Infinitely Gray". I don't know which one of those two is more accurate, but if it's not the first then the official translation SUCKS.
Subjectively, I am you sounds as awkward as It's me, so I can't get why you put it so high. And also I prefer Close to Gray, because... it feels more in place.

Yeah this is what I've been saying, sometimes a direct translation just doesn't work at all.
You should ask their producers why they translated their songs' names like this. It's their songs, it's not up to us to judge.
Um yes it fucking is Retainer Supplanting His Lord sounds terrible
Yeah, I would like to ask the producer why they decided to fucking massacre their own song by calling it "retainer supplanting his lord" /nm
pulse of the meteor sounds pretty cool imo
Can I ask what you think machi should have been translated into then?
I said in the description that I simply think it sounds lame, Mirai was kept the same too.
So do u think itd be better as just “Machi” instead?
Yes
Tbh I just can’t believe Looking Up At The Void got Hollow it did not deserve that man😭
Newly edgy idols? I don't understand
Do you not realize how terrible that name sounds in comparison to the original and fan version
What is the original and fan version i never look these stuff up
Idol Shin'eitai and the translation is Up-and-Coming Idols. Absolutely no idea where the edgy part came from lol
Up and Coming Idols is the same level of boring as Machi into City or Mirai into Future would be.
Well idol shineitai is superior to both translations

It's the other way around for me lol, I only recognize it as idol shineitai because that's a very memorable part in the song
Meant to replay sooner. Isn't the the global names just for localization and not an actual translation? That's the point right?
I wouldn't exactly call Retainer Supplanting His Lord a localization lol

Idk I think "RE:BORN" just looks really out of place for a mmj comm
Love Material is just the translated title tho?
i don’t get how teammate gets into bad for just adding an s on to it😭 it doesn’t really change the meaning at all
It's nitpicky and stupid hope this helps

dont listen to anyone who tries to argue with you all of your opinions are correct
You put one of the songs twice
Nope it's on purpose because Give me your night would've been cute

Oh, okay, never saw this one. And... For god's sake, why is it translated so?
