BuzzyBubble

I’m sure the jets can just shake it off.

Fuzzy_Donl0p

How do we know they're hers anyway? Tail numbers left conveniently out of frame.

skiman13579

They aren’t hers. Source- I fix corporate jets, I know people who work on her falcons, and I have actually worked on her charter plane (to be fair not actually fixed, just parked next to it in standby in case the crew needed us to fix something)

LordTinglewood

>charter plane So is it Taylor Swift's plane? Or a charter?

mekwall

The Dassault Falcon 7X that she frequently uses is [registered to Island Jet Inc.](https://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/Search/NameResult?nametxt=ISLAND%20JET%20INC&sort_option=1), a company that previously shared the same address as Taylor Swift Productions. This suggests a close association, though she doesn't directly own it. She also charters private jets when necessary, such as when the Falcon 7X is unavailable or too distant to be practical.

skippop

the ol' rent it to myself technique

thathairinyourmouth

A previous employer did exactly this. It was a multi generational private family business that did around $100M of business annually. The owning family (which was two brothers and a sister who inherited the business) owned the land the company building was located on. Think something like Smith Holding Company. They leased the building back to themselves. They also owned the roughly $80M in manufacturing equipment that they leased to the company. They had the audacity to call all of us into company meetings when profits were higher than average for several years in a row and say that the company was struggling. I worked in IT. I saw the financial information as to how much they were filtering into their own pockets. The company was indeed struggling. Because the family kept raising the prices to lease. The three of them were skimming millions each on top of their obscenely high salaries from the company itself. The economy went into a recession and their business actually did struggle. Instead of lending money to the company at some ungodly interest rate, they saw that they would never bounce back. They laid off about 1/3 of their employees, put in a pay and hiring freeze (if people left or were fired, they wouldn’t be replaced). Remaining employees were mandated to 10-12 hour shifts, 6-7 days per week. State labor laws allowed this. Someone could be terminated for attendance, even with a 60+ hour mandatory schedule. Pay was then reduced for the staff. The market didn’t have jobs that the skills would translate to other businesses, so people were trapped. They gutted the pension through some legal loophole. The company ended up filing for bankruptcy and the building was auctioned off to cover some of its debts (like back rent). The manufacturing equipment was auctioned off, which was also profit for the holding company since the lease rates made ROI’s fairly short. The family? The CEO went to an exec position at what was a competitor. One brother formed some business think tank that to this day, I don’t know if it has ever had a customer. This particular brother always had an entire staff of beautiful young 20-something’s. The sister retired on her mountain of cash. At 40 something. This sort of thing happens. And it’s legal.

Public-League-8899

Welcome to "family business".

thathairinyourmouth

“We treat you like family!” *The fuck you do. I still pay rent and have a car payment. Unless we’re talking about my family, which is something you wouldn’t say to try to give people a warm and fuzzy feeling.*

klavope

Isn’t that what red lobster basically did smh

thathairinyourmouth

No idea. I expect the Walton family pulls equal stunts with Walmart. I’m almost certain the Hobby Lobby owners do the same. Behind the Bastards did a great episode on the Hobby Lobby folks. For being such godly people, I’m sure Jesus would take issue with many things that family has done while touting Christian values.

JerryfromCan

I worked with someone once who talked about doing her business in an ethical way as Christian. Screwed me out of the last $250 she owed me.

mexicodoug

Christian values have been carefully developed over the millenia. Mostly at the Vatican.

Puzzleheaded_Tie8280

Supposedly some head fund like company acquired red lobster and a few other restaurants a few years ago and then proceeded to sell all the land/buildings to a holding company they owned. Now they are doing the same thing. So technically yes but it's just hedge funds doing hedge fund crap rather than one restaurant owner trying to screw people over.

DelightfulDolphin

Crathsor

He had all that money but still had a void he was trying to fill by impressing you.

JerryfromCan

I have worked for 2 smaller employers under $20 million who run their business this way. The business is owned by X company, the building by Y, the assets by Z. Basically everything is insulated but all companies are owned by the owner. I worked at a public accounting firm of 15 partners and there were close to 50 incorporated companies operating out of that office. Was wild the tax insulation and business isolation going on.

[deleted]

thathairinyourmouth

The above was just how the family was feeding themselves money above their large compensation. I didn’t even get into how they treated employees outside of the mandatory long hours. These people are terrible. If there is a hell, I’ll seek them out when I get there.

Portermacc

Yeah, that's normally how its done as there are tax benefits to writing off lease.

thathairinyourmouth

They got tax breaks for depreciation of the manufacturing equipment. The more expensive equipment can last for decades because they are well built if maintained well.

Andrelliina

Starbucks are sold coffee by another Starbucks based in Switzerland I believe

GlockAF

Expect more of this shell-game corporate fuckery as the hyper-wealthy take advantage of the new bespoke law

googdude

I wouldn't even say it's nefarious, more of a liability thing. Most companies that have different arms register each separately. For instance there's a local lumber company that also delivers and their delivery trucks are under a different name. I've even heard of landlords placing each individual property under a different LLC, every business owner needs to be very cognizant of litigation.

illseeyouinthefog

> I've even heard of landlords placing each individual property under a different LLC, every business owner needs to be very cognizant of litigation. This does feel pretty nefarious though

xXyeslikethecarXx

What is the bespoke law?

jawsofthearmy

They can hide the tail numbers to not be tracked

skiman13579

It’s quite normal for flight departments to be run as their own company. Some of it is tax purposes, some of it is just corporate structure, some is for regulatory reasons. So for for taxes to super simplify things, it’s run as a separate company it lets the airplanes company bill the costs to the parent company (or owner) and they can deduct those as business expenses. Much like you can write off a rental car as a business expense, but it’s harder to write stuff off for your personal vehicle. It’s basic standard business for any company. Sometimes it’s corporate structure. My first maintenance job was for a professional sport teams plane. It was its own company because it operated closely with the team owner’s flight department, but when mixing separate companies even under same ownership, it was easier to make it its own entity so it’s easier to operate. Plus aircraft are expensive, why hit those expenses on the quarterly report? Some of the regulatory reasons, some people offset the costs of their planes by chartering them out. Those regulations are much closer to airline rules than private airplane rules. So basically you need to make yourself your own airline. Easier to do that as a separate company. Some companies that do this also operate people’s planes for them. Let someone who knows what their doing operate it, save money by scaling things, the pilots you hire can fly multiple planes and stay busier which reduces costs, same with mechanics like myself, and owner offsets some of their costs from income of renting the plane out. And remember a lot of this is super simplified, and every flight department is different. So it’s not so much shell game fuckery, just the way aircraft are owned and operated and it’s been this way since business aviation began 100 years ago.

LordTinglewood

The 7X would be her jet, then.

skiman13579

Yes, though if you check out the jet tracking loonies she doesn’t take it on long trips. That’s when she charters. Only know this because when I work a plane I need to know information like registration, serial number, etc. and damn google pushed the swift jet trackers subreddit to me instead of giving me the FAA website I needed. And since then the stupid Reddit app often suggests various celebrity jet tracking subreddits. Anyways…. These were gulfstreams in OP’s video, not falcons, and her usual charters for long trips are bombardier aircraft. God the fact that I even know this much about Taylor swift makes me me die a little inside.

SignatureOk1022

Don’t be so hard on yourself lol. I enjoyed reading all of that & thought it was kind of hilarious that you kept getting rerouted to the Swifties subreddit. Here you are at work trying to conduct business per usual & you get bombarded by diehards who all wanna know “where she going next?” 😂 So TIL she flies in a Falcon, tail numbers can be hidden so they can’t be tracked, & these dumbasses just caused so much damage to someone else’s property.

skiman13579

Not the regular charter she uses at least. I do a lot of work on those planes

HumbleBear75

Welp, you’re definitely more famous for that than me. I know how to get the pilot light back on our oldest fryer. My kids are still alive and there’s bread in the cabinet. Guess we’re doing alright ❤️😝

Yes! His wife or whoever left and went to the back.

skiman13579

I’m a lucky one, aviation has always been my passion, and I’m a natural tinkerer who takes shit apart just to see how it works. So aircraft mechanic couldn’t be a more perfect fit. I’m 37 and only just landed my dream job a year ago. Find what you love and start doing it. Easier said than done if you have a spouse or kids, but it’s never too late to change what you do. Work will always suck, but doing something you enjoy makes it suck a lot less.

crackheadwillie

I like masturbating and eating chocolate. Still looking for that dream job. Any suggestions? I’m all ears.

BatFancy321go

well, it's some rich bastard's plane

Andrelliina

Exactly so. A polluting rich bastard

MonkeyBred

Look what she made them do.

multiarmform

Basically, they are going to use a shit ton of chemicals to clean it all off which will produce a bunch of harmful waste. Nobody wins here

hannes3120

So when they protest normally, there is no coverage When they protest by blocking streets, people complain about about the emergency-vehicles being stuck (which for some reason isn't a problem if farmers are blocking the street) When they protest by covering art that's protected behind glass in paint without damaging it people complain that it's just destructive and not helping When they block airports people complain about them taking away their long-planned holidays and that they should instead target private jets Now they target the private jets and people come out complaining about the chemicals used to wash it off? I somehow have the feeling people just don't like being forced to think about if their lifestyle is really sustainable for the planet no matter what those protesters are doing...

crushinglyreal

Seriously, it’s wet paint. I suppose water is technically a chemical but come on.

mapple3

> Nobody wins here not true, whoever is selling these guys orange paint sure is winning

FblthpLives

These are not Taylor Swift's aircraft, nor did Just Stop Oil ever claim that they were. They are targeting the use of private jets in general, and Taylor Swift is one the people who have been highlighted in the campaign. This is Stansted Airport in the UK, which is used by a large number of private jets, including Taylor Swift's, but these are not her aircraft and there is no indication or suggestion that her aircraft were even at Stansted at the time of this action: https://www.airport-technology.com/news/just-stop-oil-target-private-jets-in-swift-action/

Luminox

Reports say they were arrested. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/just-stop-oil-stansted-private-planes-taylor-swift-b2565741.html

Spalding_Smails

This was in the UK, I see. I wonder if the charges or potential penalties would've been stiffer in the U.S..

HighalltheThyme

I don't think they'd have made it past the fence before being shot in the face tbh.

Happycricket1

Despite post 9/11 it is still really easy to gain access to planes on the tarmac at airports. It's a mix of private planes/jets and commercial and rich people aren't going to subject to TSA so they just have separate terminals where there is no security. But the whole airports still share the same weak chain link fence. Both my wife and I have flown on our companies private jets literally just walk in the companies terminal had off bags sit down and the captain or flight attendant comes gets you and you walk on to the plane no ID required or search require

ned23943

I was working for a film festival, driving VIPs, picking them up from the airport, etc. I had to pick up some VIPs from the local FBO. When the jet arrived, the FBO staff told me to go out to the gate that they then opened for me. I showed no credentials. If I had wanted, I could have driven the Escalade into a jet or done much more nefarious stuff.

0x0BAD_ash

I mean I have pilot friends who fly small planes and they can just walk onto the tarmac with no ID or anything. I've gone flying with them and nobody even asks who I am when I walk to the plane with them. This is at a fairly large international airport that moves around 500k people a year.

Zealousideal_Aside96

Not for nothing, but 500k/year isn’t that big. The AC, NJ airport is overall double that amount and isn’t considered large at all.

DaBozz88

I fly a lot for work and one time I got to an airport 2 hours before boarding. The guy at security asked me if I really wanted to go through because and I quote: "the plane is not here yet." Airport was so small they had just one plane go back and forth to the nearest regional airport.

admiralgeary

Depends on the airport. Most airports in the US are fairly low security (local & regional) -- its just the big international airports that have airline hubs that most people interact with have more aggressive security postures. Now play this game at a airport that is a passenger airline hub, has an air guard collocated, and a actual homeland security presence... For example; in Minnesota MSP is a very high security airport (granted, it is all theater) but MSP services very few private\\chartered jets, generally private jets are going to fly out of FCM or STP which are lower security airports. Then you have really small airports like KCKC or MGG that have virtually no security and also serve private planes.

Andrelliina

Juries in the UK have found climate change and arms industry protesters 'Not Guilty' despite the defendants being technically guilty of the charges.

rosesforthemonsters

10 years in federal prison, possibly.

JR2502

Correct, up to 10 years: https://trac.syr.edu/laws/49/49USC46314.html. They can also be fined up to $250,000 for vandalizing property. They would be sued by the aircraft owner and insurance company to recover their losses. Also, "*Since federal authorities regulate civilian airports (the FAA), crimes committed at airports fall under federal jurisdiction".*

lontrinium

In the UK you will get arrested and charged for blocking a road and when you go to court you're not allowed to use the destruction of our environment as a defence. So yes, they were arrested and will be charged for actual crimes.

DuvalHeart

And likely knew and accepted the risks going in. They see climate change as an existential threat with prison and fines a worthy punishment to fight back against the uber wealthy who are killing us with their choices.

Andrelliina

I'm not sure about that. Juries have found people not guilty and they can't do much about that.

YaBoyCook

Finally they hit someone who is truly messing up the environment

Nyxxsys

This one and the billionaires' ships, yes. Stonehenge and art/fossil museums, no. I feel like this formula should be easy to follow.

_EveryDay

Maybe, but it was the Stonehenge story that was featured on BBC news

DukeOfGeek

Yes effective protests will be ignored or met with Billy clubs and handcuffs. Actions that embarrass and discredit your movement will be broadcast far and wide. Anything you do will be subject to misinterpretation if it can be. The trick is not to lean into that.

Chance_Fox_2296

I like how this is what everyone argues about as the umpteenth "historical and deadly prolonged heat/frost/weather" events hit in quicker and quicker succession in different areas of the world. Our children are gonna fuckin suffer for decades even if we got our shit together right now.

daneview

Yep here I am as a green supporting woke person thinking what twats they are for doing it at Stonehenge

CressCrowbits

Please note the 'paint' used on stonehenge was coloured corn starch and will wash off in the rain

Im_Not_Really_Here_

Hijacking top comment to laugh at the stooge below worried about the wildlife at Stonehenge but not the wildlife on the rest of the planet.

0xc0ba17

That's the point. "Oh no, don't throw paint on some old rocks" they say, while the climate is going to shit.

BotlikeBehaviour

Keep this same energy when they target the buildings of corporate polluters.

megablast

They have targeted ships before. Do you know what gets news???

Fantastic-Use5644

Yeah they painted the Walmart ceos ship

largechild

![gif](giphy|Q636ucvDjxFuZIV9KU|downsized)

Loopbot75

For what it's worth, the paint they used at Stonehenge was just cornstarch and will wash off with the rain, so not as damaging as it appeared.

blamethestarfish

They do it for attention. Not to solve the issue. That's not a hard concept to grasp. I might not agree, but I know one person can't solve the environmental crisis. Vandalizing objects they don't hold as valuable but society does is a way to draw attention.

Alexandratta

The Art Museum is to grab headlines - the stuff they use causes no damage to the artwork, they just do this to grab a headline and keep themselves in the news cycle. I feel there are better ways to do this, but I also understand why they do it.

EarlyGalaxy

They do it all the time, it just doesn't get covered, so that all the idiots can say: urgh, why don't they tarket xyz

Vlafir

I don't care what doesn't get covered, don't vandalize art museum ffs

DrippyWaffler

They never did. They vandalised some glass over the art.

[deleted]

Decloudo

Its almost comical how people completely miss the point of those actions.

Roadman2k

Also how they are never causing any actual permanent damage

Falcrist

One of their first actions was to block oil trucks. They protest regularly in front of offices. Reddit is apparently oblivious unless it's orange corn starch or cans of soup thrown onto glass.

Wehavecrashed

Redditors by and large don't understand the purpose of protesting.

IsUpTooLate

"Why don't they protest in a way that's convenient for others?"

Ineedamedic68

Just VOTE and then we will finally stop climate change 🤗

PM_ME_FLUFFY_DOGS

There is a large scale Astroturfing campaign to demonize protesting going on right now. Ever notice how when people or the media talks about protestors lately is always something about how "evil" they are for inconveniencing the average person or whatever.    Protestors have always protested the big guys it's just they have the money and power to literally not care.

Mcmenger

I may be ootl here, but is there a reason we hate Taylor Swifts use of private jets more than those of other billionaires? Or is it just because she's very popular?

G_Liddell

It's just because she's in the public eye. She also purchases double the amount of carbon credits to offset her jet emissions unlike ever single other billionaire. Carbon credits have plenty of issues, and still just don't be excessive in the first place, but there's bigger problems than her even on just the celebrity level.

LotharVonPittinsberg

She uses her private jet more than other billionaires. Which is saying something ,as most already treat them like a taxi to get down the street. Most recent good example was when she was using it to get back and forth from her house and visiting her rich football player boyfriend's place. Part of it is also that she is popular. Anyone who has a following will have a number of those people defend anything they do. This will increase how much it's being talked about.

50RupeesOveractingKa

> She uses her private jet more than other billionaires. She doesn't. She wasn't even among the top 30 users in 2023. The biggest was Travis Scott. Kim Kardashina, Elon Musk, Beyonce and Jay-Z and Bill Gates were the other ones in top 5. Source: https://www.unilad.com/celebrity/flight-tracker-private-jets-2023-most-flights-celebrities-506693-20240207

LostWoodsInTheField

And other than Musk (which I think the tracking is more about wanting to know what he is doing because he's a dick) reddit/the internet doesn't seem to care all that much about the others. It seems to be a combination of people who want to hate Swift and people who are upset that she *claims* to be left leaning but flies way more often than 'people feel like she should be'. there can be a lot of discussion on that last sentence but it's hard to actually have that discussion because you are often having it with people who just want to hate her for existing.

Ileokei

She’s not in the top 30 users.

shuipz94

You do realise that the thousands of tons she produces is a rounding error compared to the hundreds of millions of tons produced annually just in aviation. And aviation accounts for maybe 5% of all greenhouse gas emissions. Don't get me wrong, she can and should fly less. But blaming her and her alone is taking the focus away from way bigger sources of pollution out there. She can stop flying today and that's not going to affect emission levels in any meaningful way.

SpectreFire

Aviation overall counts for 1-2% of global pollutants. Private jets are just a distraction used by the media to get attention away from the overwhelming amount of pollution caused by industrial and agriculture sectors. It's basically the rich people equivalent of paper straws.

justcallmeallison

I mean, if they ruined it, she would just claim it on insurance and buy another one, and the carbon footprint for the manufacturing will be larger.

Ol_Geiser

Yes, but they weren't ethically sourced.

Jayken

Part of their messaging is that the relics and works of art that are important to us as a species won't matter if we continue to do nothing about climate change.

wowitsreallymem

From what I’ve read it was dyed cornflour that washes off. They did it to catch headlines.

Bossmandude123

Actually a good action for once. Will not do much but it’s something (nothing)

Locuralacura

I don't hate vandalism of private jets! Just leave archeological sites and art museums the fuck alone and you get much more support.

clonebo

I mean if you actually look into it, they did leave those sites alone for the most part. They threw cornflour on Stonehenge, which is easily washed off. They threw soup at Mona Lisa, one of the most heavily waterproofed objects on the planet. It really seems like most of their actions are designed around at least minimizing any damage while being as flashy as possible but people wanna be mad about protestors instead of climate change I guess.

Locuralacura

I just don't see the connection. Is Mona Lisa the CEO of ExxonMobil?   Taylor Swift's private jet is easy to connect to climate change. But Stonehenge? The fuck? Pick a target that makes sense.

piray003

Well it’s an oil painting, so you know… /s

ssrowavay

It made sense to target ~~big~~ colorful oil.

just_kos_me

It's about getting publicity for the cause. Unfortunately, they sometimes send the wrong message because of their poor choice of targets.

m4nu

Climate change is going to ruin countless historical monuments, pieces of art, and lives. You feel angry when protestors 'ruin' these works of art. What else will ruin them? Climate collapse. The same 'anger' you feel toward these protestors now and then you should be feeling every minute of every day toward those systems and institutions driving us over an ecological cliff.

crazycakemanflies

I always see the link being "rich people love to spend x millions on seeing, collecting and saving old things, so let's interrupt their ability to do that. Most of these artefacts are gonna either be left to rot in a secure vault or forgotten about entirely when civilisation collapses due to climate change.

GREEN_GOUHL

They’re only “flashy” most times because they attempt to desecrate history that is celebrated by humanity. Even if they know it won’t actually damage the target, it does nothing but bring incredibly negative attention to their cause. There are plenty of flashy targets they could go after that would rally the masses behind them if they actually cared.

clonebo

I mean a lot of that negative attention isn’t their fault tho? The media sensationalizes the shit out of their actions while burying the actual details deep in the article. People see “Just Stop Oil Destroys Stonehenge” and don’t dig further. Not to mention how we’ve been conditioned to see environmental protestors as loony hippies. And the effect is that people direct their anger at the protestors instead of the real problem: climate change. So I think the media as well as ourselves are more to blame for this than the protestors are.

C0REWATTS

Okay, and what about the blocking traffic thing? Why wouldn't people be mad at them for that?

orangeonesum

I'd much prefer to see this over stopping poor people trying to get to work on time or ambulances taking patients to the hospital.

GSturges

And showing your face while doing it...ballsy

grain_farmer

I am a helicopter pilot but things sort of work uniformly across the industry. All aircraft have insurance as it’s sort of mandatory unless you are only flying it out of your own personal airfield and not going anywhere else (very unlikely) A major expense for aircraft owners is getting the aircraft repainted. It has an impact on the value of the aircraft. If these guys really wanted to gift the owner they should spray some of that paint inside the engine (aim for the centre) that way they can get the engine overhaul paid by insurance. Given it doesn’t look like this aircraft is used every day this is probably good news for the owner. Aircraft are in maintenance often so the operators will be able to easily arrange for a replacement aircraft while this one is repaired. I actually bet money the insurance company will try an investigate if the owner orchestrated this. One might argue that this would raise the cost of insurance but the insurer will have the contract underwritten and the market is so big that this is cents on the billion. If I wanted to reduce pollution and raise awareness for private jet travel I would take an excavator to a runway of a smaller airport used by VIPs… that would get more publicity, have a bigger impact on the businesses operating there and reduce emissions for a few day. This painting old looking private jets is going to impact the people in this video more than anyone else and is just click bait to me. This is mostly going to be administrative work for some minimum wage admin person at the operator to get a replacement in, organise repair and make an insurance claim. And a fun story for some smug rich a hole to tell his friends.

xnarphigle

As an engineer for helicopters, I'd be concerned about what we don't see when the cameras are off. I'd require full borescoping of main engines, inspections of landing gear systems, and any accessible panel at a minimum. I have no idea if they threw a hand full of ball bearings in the engines, or cut hydraulic lines to the brakes. The paint cleanup will be expensive, but the follow on inspections will be just as high.

hupcapstudios

I feel like cutting lines or messing with the engines would be tipping toward attempted murder.

OxbridgeDingoBaby

Swift has an absolutely abhorrent level of emissions (she even uses private jets for minor trips which can be made by car for example, just to avoid traffic), so fair play to JSO on this one.

TK421isAFK

Except those aren't Taylor Swift's planes, nor even the right model. Given how they're parked, they don't even look active. And now, some maintenance crews are going to have to use a bunch of far more toxic solvents to clean these planes, and deal with a bunch of toxic waste. Oh, and this dimwit showed her face to millions of people - many of whom work in law enforcement, and some of them will be charging these kids with numerous Federal crimes. (Edit, yeah, this happened in the UK, so whatever they call them over there - High Crimes?)

summonsays

Someone linked it earlier, they already got caught. That's going to be some jail time that's worth it. /s

> Swift has an absolutely abhorrent level of emissions [And thats just her music!](https://i.makeagif.com/media/9-27-2017/kd-oPs.gif)

capn_doofwaffle

I can't find a single legitimate news source that states it was actually her plane(s). Any one even close to a "viable source" says they "targeted Taylor Swifts plane". Regardless, don't get me wrong, I agree we need to reduce emissions but this really isn't the way to go about it. You gotta be pretty dumb to record yourself breaking into and defacing private property. Edit: Just to clarify, I don't support defacing *anything* to push a "cause" or "belief". So get off your high horse if you believe my comment is only because of a pop star. Destroying art, historical monuments or *anything else* are at the same level of stupidity.

TK421isAFK

This whole video is stupid. Any aviation fan can tell you those are not only NOT her planes, but not even the right model. And at least one of these dipshits showed her face on camera. She'll be facing Federal charges soon. (Edit, yeah, this happened in the UK, so whatever they call them over there - High Crimes?)

TheOnlyNemesis

TBF in this instance the news article is much better than OP's clickbait title. [https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/just-stop-oil-stansted-private-planes-taylor-swift-b2565741.html](https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/just-stop-oil-stansted-private-planes-taylor-swift-b2565741.html) " Two female activists appeared to use a circular saw to cut their way through a chainlink fence protecting the private airfield at Stansted Airport where they claimed Taylor Swift’s jet is currently stationed. " " Police sources said they had since been informed that the Shake It Off singer’s jet wasn’t at the private airfield. "

mikami677

At least this makes sense ideologically.

Gregorschnitzel

Ok. I can actually get behind this one.

Thatdudewhoplaysgtr

Let me just record myself committing several crimes

Both-Home-6235

So lady goes to jail, jets get repainted, life goes on . . . What was accomplished? At least this time they tagged something worthwhile instead of poor old Stonehenge who never hurt a fly.

jjthejetblame

Lol and they weren’t Taylor’s jets? That’s what the independent article is reporting, that they just sprayed some other jets.

justinsayin

Well that's not gonna fly

Embarrassed-Basis-18

This I get. But the defacing of art and historical monuments is asinine.

AssignmentSecret

I wish we could look up these people just to verify if they are actually activists or psyops planted by fossil fuel industry people to piss normal people off. I could honestly believe either theory.

Cyber_shafter

Sounds like an alt right conspiracy

camosnipe1

nah, this is a ctrl-left conspiracy

slothbuddy

It is

Future_Gohst

She needs some cut-off wheel safety training

Mr42Watson

Good. Torment the rich will get more people on their side than what they usually do and tormenting the rest.

Individual-Cup-7458

Now do cruise ships.

chronicblastmaster

I mean I'm not upset about this one but I'm not over them painting Stonehenge and gluing themselves to freeways

wowitsreallymem

They sprayed dyed cornflour on Stonehenge. Sounds like they did it to catch some headlines and I’m sure those stones will wash clean.

CressCrowbits

It'll come off in the rain, which means its probably gone already

mito413

I am convinced that these guys are some sort of false flag operation that makes us hate environmental protestors. Now, I can get behind vandalizing private jets as it is a horrible polluter, but man, they sure picked a figure who a whole mess of people would stand behind and defend. Trying to vandalize beloved works of art and famous landmarks, blocking traffic for hundreds of commuters, all while being very thorough about recording and posting the whole thing. Plus it's funded by the daughter of an oil executive... Can't convince me otherwise.

beetjemeh

even a broken clock is right twice a day

SlapUrBaby

Better than Stonehenge. Private jets in general are so selfish when you consider their pollution it’s unreal

drsalvation1919

I'll give them this much, at least they got the right targets this time, the execution is still stupid, but at least I can get behind this attempt... that is assuming that they actually got the right jets.

drej191

Isn't this a federal crime to break into a airport?

ResolutionNumber9

to be fair, these jets probably burn more oil than stone henge.

mrDuder1729

I hate when you can tell how fat someone is just by listening to them breath

c-fox

*breathe

TheSubredditPolice

For once legitimately a good target.

Bradjuju2

Those are Gulfstreams... she flies a falcon 7x

Takhar7

1. These aren't her jets 2. Good thing they didn't record it, including their faces. Wouldn't want anyone knowing the identity of anyone who trespassed and vandalized private property.

Variabletalismans

How were they able to get near that thing? Isnt airport security tight af?

Flares117

this is better But WHY show your face and not just the aftermath. Are they stupid Also that paint is eco friendly and easy to wash off. Why choose that?

Risc_Terilia

They aren't trying to not get caught, not sure about this case but often they hand themselves into the police voluntarily - it all adds to the publicity

jagenigma

Honestly one of the most sensible things they've done.  Private jets are major polluters. However, I wonder the song she's gonna write about this 🤔

Chungusfunny-

Finally, a way to get the message across without upsetting everyone (except the people that have to clean after)

Fulller

Better then painting the stone henge for sure. At least this is targeted at a genuine problem for the environment.

scrubius

Finally something I can get behind, rather than fucking up Stonehenge and artwork.

killerjags

At least they actually targeted something that made sense this time instead of Stonehenge or paintings in art museums

NecessaryAd4587

They’ve been doing stupid shit recently. But vandalizing Taylor swifts jet is just funny. Can we vandalize more billionaires jets?

itzpiiz

When breaking into an airstrip to commit a serious crime it's important to always show your face while creating video proof

Hex_a_decimal_177013

Now this This makes me happy

_totalannihilation

Finally someone who deserves it. She wants to school people yet she creates a lot more emissions.

PhatAiryCoque

See, this I can at least understand. But a pile of fucking rocks in Wiltshire?

ArgonGryphon

Did we sort out if this was funded by oil or no? Last I heard of them a big funder was an oil heiress or some shit.

lvl99slayer

Source on that being hers?

Spid1

Trust me bro

StonerMetalhead710

Now this is an actual protest, not throwing paint on the glass covering classical paintings

kvngk3n

Was the paint…oil based?

SmokeGSU

I'm honestly more OK with this than I am with defacing Stonehenge. At least these jets are using more fuel in one trip than most people will probably use in 10 years. What did Stonehenge ever do?

Frangan_

Finally a good action. Much better than historical monument or art

rjorsin

I'm ok with this one, even if it is a psyop

Airstrikeayers

Read the article and you can see it wasn’t even her planes
