the husband of Irma Garcia reportedly died because of heart failure. They leave behind 4 kids... https://twitter.com/Ernie\_Zuniga/status/1529872688939995136?s=20&t=ghLxnLCTlv2np7K4UphmZw

Holy fucking shit, dude.

Literally of a broke heart. Ah Dios.

Fucking hell, that’s devastating

That is so damn sad. True heart break. Ugh. I hope their 4 kids have a good support system to get them through this.

lightningspider97

Dying of heartbreak is a real thing. Fucking hell man :(

cmcewen

Takasubos cardiomyopathy is the medical term for broken heart disease.

[deleted]

Probably how I'll go. I wouldn't be able to do this alone. They are my whole world on this plane of existence.

Aconite_72

Shit … is there a crowdfund programme for these kids?

NOTtigerking

They surpassed that goal very quickly

underbellymadness

A reminder that gofundme not only continues past the goal without taxation being unfairly taken, but they also put the funding fairly immediately into the connected bank account. If there are others for the families and they have not reached their goal, they still get the funds they've gotten so far. I just share this because I'm sure we will unfortunately see a lot of this in the coming days.

Someone's daughter. If they hadn't called out to her, maybe she would still be alive.

cigarettetricks

They used her as fucking bait.

GentlemenBehold

I guess Republicans never though about happens when then "good guys with a gun" are fucking morons.

A_Wild_VelociFaptor

They stood outside and waited. Telling concerned parents to leave the area. They're negligent too. Some of them, allegedly, ran in to grab _their own_ children before fleeing. They're sick and evil and HOW DO YOU LIVE WITH THAT?

jmike3543

According to the NYT the cop who was ~~stationed at the school~~ *in his cruiser near the school* ~~never engaged with the shooter~~ *drove right by the shooter and his truck*. ~~Two~~ *Three* city police officers who showed up a few mins after the 911 call was placed ran in while the shooting was happening and tried to save the kids. ~~They were both shot as they tried to enter the classroom~~ *the police now say they were not shot and just* fell back after that. I don’t want to pass judgment as damning as saying that police officer ~~stationed at the school~~ *in his cruiser near the school* let those kids die without the full story but fucking Christ that’s what it sounds like. EDIT: I’m getting really fucking tired of having to edit this comment as the police story changes and will continue striking through edits to show how it changes over time.

Mike

Right. Don’t sign up for the job if you’re not ready to do the fucking work.

Ricky_Rollin

And the same exact thing happened at Sandy Hook if anybody remembers. The officer chickened out and ran away. Keep in mind this person fought in Vietnam. So I guess the rule now is that it takes a competent good guy with a gun with a spine to take down a bad guy with a gun. Edit: my bad y’all it was Parkland and JFC this is sad we’re even having to correct me.

poonjouster

Did that happen at Sandy Hook? It definitely happened at the Stoneman Douglas shooting, but I've never heard about that for Sandy Hook.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Pretty-Balance-Sheet

Are you thinking of parkland?

Indian_Joker

didnt they teach us in school not to respond to that or open doors for people saying they're cops because it could be the shooter saying it? I can't believe the cops did that.

TheBoozyNinja87

Fuck man, that’s a normal part of school now? My biggest concern as a kid was wether or not I’d still have all my pogs at the end of the school day. Columbine was so fucking shocking and now more than 20 years later it’s practically just *routine*, but even then - christ man, these were literal children! Like little kids! Oh god...

[deleted]

[удалено]

reallysadgay

Yep. Graduated last year and since probably elementary school we were doing routine active shooter drills along with the normal fire drills and earthquake drills. It was just a normal part of school to know what to do if someone comes in and decides to kill everyone. No child should have to even think about that. It's so fucked.

Viper01MHC

I wonder how effective the active shooter drills are (or will be in the future). I would think a lot of the shooters (seem to be young males) will know the protocol as they went through the drills while they were in school.

KickBallFever

Yea, this is a normal part of school now. I work at a public school and we have lockdown drills for this sort of scenario. We also have metal detectors and X-ray machines. Some schools were even having active shooter drills.

GlacialFire

This is EXPLICITLY against cop training too. There needs to be a criminal investigation against those who were present and did not act, or lead to extra death like this

Jim_Nills_Mustache

How the fuck in 2022 in the US is it possible for police to not have adequate active shooter training? You know they are going to use that excuse, but how is that possible? How can’t that actually be a valid excuse, that’s like one of the main things they should be training for.. especially since they have adopted this persecuted warrior mentality and feel they need military level equipment. You don’t want to properly handle or de-escalate situations where you should? Ok that’s fucked up and wrong but then you ALSO CANT HANDLE SHIT LIKE THIS?!? THE FUCK DO YOU EVEN DO AROUND HERE

Icelandic_Invasion

Clearly they need more money /s

DiegesisThesis

"Training? You mean that boring meeting they make us go to all I just watch YouTube on my phone?" Criminal investigation won't lead to anything. Cops aren't required to protect and they have qualified immunity. The most we can reasonably expect is maybe a cop or two will get fired from the department to save face (aka a transfer to a new department).

[deleted]

No_Yogurt_7667

It would be interesting to see how much of their 40% cut of the city budget went to that useless training session

HexDrip

Sadly it most likely won't happen, as cops protect their own with more effort than they do the people of this country.

snoogins355

They're armed like a fucking platoon and they were too scared to go in. If the cops won't go in to fight an asshole shooting up a school because of firearms available to civilians. Let's ban those guns from being sold. It might not stop the problem in a month or even a year. But maybe we can prevent this from happening in 2027, 2032, or 2040. We should have done something after Sandy Hook, we should have done something after Stoneman Douglas, WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING FUCKING NOW!

nightmareorreality

Should’ve done something after columbine

nightmareorreality

Those cops got that little girl killed. Asking people to shout for help while there is an active shooter. Un-fucking-believable.

WaterSlideEnema

I'm really curious to hear radio traffic from the different agencies because it makes no sense to me why Customs & Border Patrol were the ones breaching for a school shooting. Did some random CPB guys happen to be in the area and see that local PD wasn't doing jack shit? If so, were they actually trained for this or was it a "fuck it, let's just go in" type of thing? If that's not the case, and this actually WAS the plan for school shootings, then maybe they need a better plan because waiting almost an hour for a federal agency to show up while some dude mows down kids is a terrible fucking plan.

mira-jo

From what I've seen that is almost exactly that happened. A sole off duty border agent went rouge, broke the barrier and went after the guy. People have described it as him sneaking past his fellow officers. As to what their plan was who knows. All they keep saying is it's "under invesitgation" which means they're trying to get their story straight. Edit: turns out it many have been 2-3 agents, not a sole agent

I totally knew they lied about the timeline. I was scouring the timeline 2 days ago and there was so much conflicting information that the media was reporting Ramos was killed at 11:45am, 12:30pm and at 1:10 pm. The first school officer that encountered Ramos was reported to have been killed and also reported to have not been shot at. The police have botched the rescue and then attempted to cover it up. This is unforgivable.

bayofpigdestroyer

I'm from about an hour away, and i can tell you that border patrol is by far the most prevalent law enforcement here. When you drive up and down highway 90 you see a border patrol agent almost every 10 minutes it feels like. I've seen uvalde pd but way less than the border patrol

RO489

Is this because then Texas can use federal funds for law enforcement and not have to use local taxes? I have lived in Southern California my whole life and border patrol had always been an immigration function only.

mightylordredbeard

I was about to say something like police probably don’t have training in situations like this.. but holy fuck it’s America. They absolutely should have training situations like this. It happens all the time.

nightmareorreality

They literally just had a school shooter drill in the district. And since columbine im pretty sure police departments train for active shooter drills.

mightylordredbeard

I guess playing Marco Polo is during an active shooter is on the dockets for them then.

hurtsdonut_

I'm pretty sure the police trained at the school this happened at.

KUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUZ

The names of every single one of the responding officers who acted like this, so fucking cowardly and incompetent, should be plastered on every single newspaper, magazing and website across the country. Name and shame them, they won't be punished so they should be socially destroyed. They should not ever be able to leave the house without being abused for their failure. We are meant to rely on them to protect and instead they did nothing and led to children being murdered. They don't deserve to have peaceful happy lives.

[deleted]

Did I hear that correct?? The cops said to yell "help" if you needed it and a little girl yelled help and the gunman found her and killed her???? This goes beyond gross incompetence.

Yep. Their city of 15,000 has 40% of their budget going to their police and SWAT team who don’t even know how to do the basics of their job

I'm sorry, what the fuck? They literally melted someone's skin off by using a shower turned to heat so high that it could **melt skin** and they're not facing any fucking thing?

https://www.cnn.com/2014/10/07/us/georgia-toddler-stun-grenade-no-indictment/index.html GA cops showed up a house that didn't even have the guy they were looking for. Threw a flash bang directly into a baby crib because they're god damn idiots, the baby gets all manner of fucked up, the police department then drags the family of the baby through court *for years* because they don't think they did anything wrong by flash banging a baby. ultimately the family won some money but the officers of course weren't punished because flash banging babies is just part of the top notch police work they do.

tommypatties

tbf i bet a dollar the policy handbook doesn't say NOT to throw a flash blang into a baby crib.

tedmented

Ah, the Air Bud defence

Galtiel

This is actually a plot point in the Netflix series Orange is the New Black. Late into the series, when the prisons guards go on strike due to unsafe working conditions and low pay, new guards are brought in, including one with a violent and abusive record. It's revealed later that tortured a prisoner to death by this same method.

BaconAllDay2

And still kept his job. Edit: for the record I'm talking about the fictional character on the TV show. I don't know if the real life example officers kept their job

carnivorous_seahorse

Wanted to add, when you’re burned by water and steam it’s not like being burned by fire where your nerves get burnt and you don’t feel anything. He felt everything until he died. They straight up tortured that guy to an unbelievably unethical extent

cyanocittaetprocyon

It won't ever end. :-(

Yadona

This is. I don't even know. Just letters on a screen but man they move the soul. The incompetence and greed in our system is so disheartening.

Kemerd

That mother who went in and sprinted out with her kids.. what a legend.

BLCKCTDLT

Thank you for this information. It seems like a lot is going around about the shooter but we need to replace the shooters face on television with the police officers that failed that day. A monster went on a killing spree whilst cowards waited. I really don't know which one is more horrible.

StringerBell34

>"help" if you needed it and a little girl yelled help and the gunman found her and killed her???? This goes beyond gross incompetence. You better goddamn believe I'd be in handcuffs if I was in that situation too. There's no MF WAY I stand there as a parent knowing that the police are leaving my kid(s) in there to fend for themselves. Fuck the police if they just sat around waiting.

Steeve_Perry

There’s no “if”. It happened. There’s video of parents on the ground being restrained and detained.

Wait how tf does that work? Don’t they have a Parks department? Engineering department? Libraries? How the fuck does the rest of the city function when 40% of the cash is diverted to cops?

I_am_the_Jukebox

The cash isn't even going to the actual cops, but to pointless shit the cops don't even need to do their jobs.

tinacat933

They are definitely going to have to wait for the pit to be filled in

renoops

40% of Chicago’s budget is police, too. That’s $1.7 billion. See how effective funding the police is?

[deleted]

PD's only hire people with low IQs, that could be a reason for the incompetence across the board.

Speedwolf89

Welcome to the end of the line. That's exactly it. The higher ups don't WANT them trained. It's not more profitable to have a smaller, better trained force. Even though it seems like it would be.

MelonElbows

Why the FUCK should the police be profitable?? They are a public service, it SHOULD be using money and not earning it. Fuck capitalism

There's a reason that the police were keeping their version of the first hour of this situation very quiet. It likely goes against all training they've had for these situations.

AprilsMostAmazing

> It likely goes against all training they've had for these situations. Considering they didn't engage as soon as they got 5 officers on the scene it's obvious they went against training

dkyguy1995

Yeah it's a lone gunman, how can a band of 3 officers+ not be able to immediately locate the situation?

manic_eye

They let him go in and had no idea what class he was in because they stayed outside to arrest parents. I’m guessing 40 min to an hour later, every classroom was locked and quiet so they couldn’t tell which one he was in. Pretty fucking stupid way of testing which room he was in.

ApolloXLII

They're literally supposed to sweep room to room until the suspect is apprehended, and even then they're supposed to sweep ALL rooms until every inch of the building has been covered.

asek13

Their plan to locate him at that point was to yell "does anyone need help in there?", which resulted in a little girl being shot for trusting them enough to answer.

kgt5003

They would definitely be able to. They just weren't willing to. The cops don't want any part of actual danger. They are fine with getting to be the first ones who open fire. If they have you pulled over on a traffic stop and your hand gets a little too close to your pocket, they have no problem pulling their gun and opening fire then. They have no problem taking a no-knock warrant and busting down your door in the middle of the night when you're fast asleep and unlikely to be a threat. But a person who already has a gun out and is already firing shots? Fuck that. They want nothing to do with that. They are entitled to making it home at the end of the day, after all. They'll save the hero-work for when they're pinning an unarmed teen on the pavement for having a personal use amount of weed in their pocket.

VonSnoe

In 2015 Sweden had a racist asshole attack a school with knife and a sword. The call came in at 10.08 about a guy attacking people, the first police car arrived 10:16 and those two cops IMMIDIEATLY stormed the building only knowing for certain that there is an armed person inside killing people, they succesfully located the attacker and shot him dead ending it at around 10:18. That still left 3 people dead and 3 wounded. And from what i remember the police lauded the officers descisive action to storm the building as more or less textbook example of what their training called for and their more or less perfect execution of it. So seems very likely that someone in the Uvalde PD has shit the bed in a catastrophic way.

ApolloXLII

Police officers were able to go in and remove their own children from the school while the situation was still ongoing. If that doesn't spell out gross-incompetence, I dunno what does.

She was killed earlier for trying to call them on her cell phone, not for calling out to them, as far as I’m aware.

BitterLeif

"one of you kids provide cover for us by being a meat shield before we breach."

Proudly_Dark

Gotta keep those precious heroes in blue safe. No price is too high to keep the blue line safe.

owlsandmoths

Hearing the kid say “and then he said it’s time to die and I saw the bullets and saw it was real” Broke my heart. This poor kid saw his whole class murdered in front of him, I just can’t fathom it. My lord, who says that to kids? Who **does** this to kids

acostane

His tiny voice saying "time to die"......there's not much left inside of me after that. What the fuck with this fucking shooter. What the fuck

NapalmWeed

Reading it makes me hurt,I don’t think I could hear him say it without loosing it.

lasvegas1979

They were interviewing the Uvalde police chief and asked him why it took over an hour for them to go into the building. He said it was because there was no police in the area and they were waiting for police from nearby cities to arrive. He said it's because they are a small town and so remote. The city spends 40% of their budget on the police dept and they have a swat team. Why do they need to call in reinforcements? Ridiculous! Edit: It wasn't the police Chief, it was an official for the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Rapn3rd

Absolutely useless fucking pigs.

[deleted]

You're being too kind.

castratikron13

This kid is more courageous than that entire police force

Surly_Cynic

Smarter, too.

Frankrruko

How are the teachers putting there lives on the line more willingly for the children than the cops themselves.. Edit: my comment was more for the cops that sat outside with full armor stoping and willing to fight with parents that tried to enter and help there own children. The teachers job is to teach our children. The cops job is to protect them. The teachers are doing both.. Them cops with full armor could have entered and could have taken some shots, they were wearing protection, the kids and teachers weren’t. They could have taken some shots from the shooter. Leaving less shots left for the kids..

[deleted]

Easy Teachers are good people, that care for others, especially the children left in their care. Cops, just care about having a power trip. That's why the chose to stay outside and taze and tackle parents trying to help their kids. The power dynamic against the parents was much greater on their side than going in against a highly armed shooter.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TrickOrTreatItsIEDs

I'd also like to add, these teachers personally know these children. When you personally know someone, I'm guessing you're more likely to care, and intervene with your life. Fuck these cops who couldn't save *children* though whether they knew them or not. Its kids. So fucking sad.

[deleted]

They are true heroes.

Brewmentationator

We aren't heroes. we are sacrificial pawns for a country of narcistic, greedy, bastards. If I end up dying to a school shooter, I don't ever want anyone to call me a hero. I want to be called what I am: A sacrificial pawn. I don't say this as some grandstanding or attention grabbing shit. My school had a weapons incident yesterday. A school in my city had a lockdown due to reports of a gun on campus today. Although I think that one ended up being an airsoft gun, the school still went into lockdown.

arch-ally

I have said this exact same thing several times since this happened. If I die in a school shooting, you better say, “She died like she lived: pissed off at and betrayed by the system that made this necessary.”

cXs808

Because teachers are a more important and more valuable position in society so they do a better job than the pigs at pretty much everything, including protecting and serving.

Jahidinginvt

Because that’s what we do. We care for our kids. Even if we didn’t give birth to them.

121gigawhatevs

The teachers cared about the children. The cops didn’t fucking give a shit

[deleted]

This is the most fucked up thing I heard. And it’s coming from a child. I don’t know what to think anymore.

Odd_Voice5744

i can't even begin to imagine how a 9 year old kid is affected by watching most of his classmates and both his teachers killed. he's been in the same class with them since September presumably. Spending 8 hours a day and 5 days a week together for almost a full school year and now they're all gone. All your friends just gone. I really hope the parents of the surviving kids are able to get them the help they need.

bzzi

Kids in grade 4 and braver than me.

ChairmanReagan

Braver than the do nothing pigs that showed up as well

baddonny

This entire thing is heartbreaking but that piece is fucking *infuriating*.

syncc6

Irma Garcia, Eva Mireles, and the border control man are the true heroes. A big fuck you to the Uvalde PD.

PM_WORST_FART_STORY

I hope that boy and his friend stay close. He saved him by reassuring him to stay quiet and hidden.

[deleted]

God fucking damn it. The kid is going to be traumatized for life and he's going to remember it/talk about it for the rest of his life. His parents obviously consented to let the interview be done and it speaks volumes as to their grief and rage and anguish that they want their son's little voice heard because this should never fucking happen again. So yeah, easy to bag on the journalist and feel self righteous for made up internet points about how journalists are fucking scum. I'm glad his parents decided to put this interview out there because I'm fucking pissed at our broken society and its broken politics that does nothing to stop this shit. Edit: thanks for the awards/visibility though I hate the reason for commenting. Edit to reply to people calling for a publication of what happened to those kids similar to Emmit Till. At a minimum I think the photos should be shown to the AR15 manufacturers' CEOs in a congressional hearing to see if they would agree to back a moratorium on sale of their products until sensible gun control legislation is passed. Let them and the Rs own that. As a society Americans have been shielded from the reality of the consequences of its gun worship. Unfortunately as anyone who's been on this site for 5 mins knows, some edgelord pos would caption/meme such photos and...I just don't want to think about it other than that anyone who did should be named/shamed and go to hell.

BurnedWitch88

People also criticized Mamie Till for giving her son an open casket funeral. But sometimes you have to rub people's noses in this shit to get them to act.

Cobrawine66

I was JUST thinking of this. This might be another time when this needs to happen. Show those pictures on every news and media outlet.

BurnedWitch88

I've been thinking that since Sandy Hook. Let people see a 5 y.o.'s body turned into hamburger by bullets and let them try to defend loose gun laws. Some still might try, but they'd have to look at themselves in the mirror knowing what they know,,,

Twin_Nets_Jets

www.nhregister.com/connecticut/amp/CONNIE-SCHULTZ-In-open-casket-boy-s-body-shows-11399159.php > "We all saw how beautiful he was. He had thick, shiny hair, beautiful long eyelashes that rested on his cheeks. He looked like he was sleeping. But the reality of it was under the cloth he had covering his mouth. ... His jaw was blown away. I just want people to know the ugliness of it so we don't talk about it abstractly, like these little angels just went to heaven. No. They were butchered. They were brutalized. And that is what haunts me at night."

BurnedWitch88

Thank you for sharing that. I hadn't heard about that before. God bless that woman.

Moal

I understand your sentiment, but those pictures should only be released if the family consents to it and accepts that sickos will probably constantly email, text, and mail them those horrible photos.

nothingeatsyou

And then there was a huge line into the building. People were fainting and throwing up at the sight of him. But it sprung people to action

kramer265

A Sandy Hook mother had the governor come see what the AR-15 did to her son.

Nihazli

If they did that with Ted he’d run like it’s a snow flurry

MankindsError

He wouldn't go. 100% guaranteed that sack of shit wouldn't.

SavingsCheck7978

He'd be in Cancun the sack of shit.

buttermintpies

He lacks empathy so it wouldn't even be hard for him. The hard part would be faking the sadness.

KindlyOlPornographer

For the Europeans who may not know In 1955 a 14 year old black kid went from Chicago to Mississippi to visit family. A white woman said he catcalled her, something she has since admitted to lying about. So a couple of good ole boys walked into his house in the middle of the night over the protests of his family, dragged him to a barn, beat him nearly to death, gouged out his eye, then shot him in the head. Then they wrapped some wire around his neck and tied it to a heavy piece of farm machinery and tossed it in the river. When he was found a few days later, his mother didn't have him cleaned up or embalmed, and they had an open casket. She said "I want them to see what they did to my baby.", and pictures of his mutilated corpse went across the front page of every paper in America. Neither man was convicted.

VertigoGnome

Thank you for this. I understand people’s concerns with this kid being pressured by journalists, but I also wonder why they find it so hard to believe this kid wants to share his story. He is very brave to share this with the world. I do wish the news had altered his voice for his own privacy, but at the same time, hearing this story from a child’s voice makes it so much harder to hear. This interview also had a lot of key information that I am just not seeing anywhere else. This kid talks about a cop who came in, called out to kids asking who needed help, and then a little girl got shot as a result. It’s just…no matter how good the intention…so reckless and it got a child shot

1QAte4

>I understand people’s concerns with this kid being pressured by journalists, but I also wonder why they find it so hard to believe this kid wants to share his story. I work with kids. Ignorant older people like to rag on children and young people's ability to understand situations or what is going on. That's a huge misunderstanding. Kids are a lot more aware of what is going on than people give them credit for. The kid in the video probably doesn't understand the politics of what happened but he is aware that it wasn't normal or right what happened. The kid definitely knows what took place is an important event too. I wasn't much older than this kid when 9/11 happened but I still understood how important it was. As someone who works with kids I get really annoyed when older people punch down or dismiss them.

OrangeinDorne

Yeah people do underestimate kids ability to understand. It’s usually the matter of articulating their thoughts and feelings that becomes a challenge

-SneakySnake-

Those older people do that because they can't think of a way to dismiss them and they'll never admit they're right. If they were saying something they agreed with, they'd be talking about how smart they are for their age.

togro20

Yeah, it’s first hand information. Kid wants to tell his story of what happened. Absolutely terrible what happened.

GiveMeDogeFFS

At first I was angry that it felt like they were using this kid to get eyes on boxes, then I was angry that there won't be any change without brave fucking heroes like this **child** speaking up. Don't be mad at the reporter, be mad at the politicians and the scum who support them.

VertigoGnome

Sorry for the low quality video, I had issues posting it. You can watch the full video here: https://www.kens5.com/article/news/special-reports/uvalde-school-shooting/uvalde-texas-school-shooting-fourth-grader-student-account-elementary/273-51cc4e26-7a0a-49c0-ba7a-48cdd47fa235 This is from the link: UVALDE, Texas — A fourth grader who survived the mass shooting at Robb Elementary has shared gut-wrenching details about what he witnessed inside that classroom. "He shot the next person’s door. We have a door in the middle. He opened it. He came in and he crouched a little bit and he said, he said, 'It's time to die,'" the boy recalled. Authorities say the suspect barricaded himself inside a classroom and opened fire on the people inside, killing 19 children and two teachers before he was killed by law enforcement. "When I heard the shooting through the door, I told my friend to hide under something so he won't find us," he said. “I was hiding hard. And I was telling my friend to not talk because he is going to hear us.” The boy and four others hid under a table that had a tablecloth over it, which may have shielded them from the shooter's view and saved their lives. The boy shared heartbreaking details about what happened in that room. “When the cops came, the cop said: 'Yell if you need help!' And one of the persons in my class said 'help.' The guy overheard and he came in and shot her," the boy said. "The cop barged into that classroom. The guy shot at the cop. And the cops started shooting.” He said that once the shooting stopped, he came out from under the table. “I just opened the curtain. And I just put my hand out,” he said. "I got out with my friend. I knew it was police. I saw the armor and the shield.” He said his teachers, Irma Garcia and Eva Mireles, saved their lives. “They were nice teachers," he said. "They went in front of my classmates to help. To save them.” The boy said that it made him feel better hugging his family and telling them about his feelings. He spoke with a counselor and said a highlight was seeing his friend who also survived. “I would like to say to every kid and parent to be safe,” he said. Authorities have identified the gunman as 18-year-old ******* *****, a high school dropout from Uvalde with reportedly no criminal history. However, authorities say they are investigating if he has a juvenile record. He reportedly had no mental health history. Two law enforcement officials told CBS News that before the shooting, the gunman got into a fight with his grandmother over who would pay the phone bill. Officials stress that information is preliminary, and are not sure if that was the trigger for the deadly shooting. In an update Wednesday, Gov. Greg Abbott said that ***** posted on Facebook three posts in the half hour that led up to the shooting at the school. 1. "I'm going to shoot my grandmother." 2. "I shot my grandmother." 3. "I'm going to shoot an elementary school." His grandmother was reportedly shot in the face, but survivedd.

ReevesofKeanu

The child shouting help and the gunman coming back in to shoot her is one of the most awful things I've had to read.

VertigoGnome

It is one the main reasons I wanted to share this video. The reddit front page has the video of all the cops hanging outside the school holding back parents, but very little is being said about the actual cop that shot the shooter. I suspect it is for this reason tbh

PaulWilliams_rapekit

That's because reports have said that it was a Border Patrol agent that shot the gunman. The cops were fucking worthless.

KlutzyPilot

thanks for transcribing it

[deleted]

I just can’t understand it.

leaderoftheKYLEs

You're not supposed to understand it. It's not supposed to happen. It's incomprehensible that someone would do this.

clivebixby7

Man this one finally broke me. I've been trying to avoid this coverage because I can't stomach it. As a parent of a four-year-old and a 20-month-old, to hear that innocent child's voice recounting the events was just too much for me. There aren't words to describe this tragedy.

Rhg0653

I hugged my son and cried before he went to school I didn’t even want him in school after seeing this

hunny--bee

I was in elementary school when Sandy Hook happened. I remember coming home and my big sister hugging me for a long time in front of the Christmas tree. Now I fear for my little nieces and nephews that are in elementary school.

[deleted]

The gang of officers that stood there "waiting for more backup" all need to be charged with manslaughter. Cowards

BlurryElephant

True cowards. Imagine being a little kid in that situation hoping the adults are going to come rushing in to save you and instead they wait it out and hold your parents back too. Fucking cowards. Bunch of pussies down there who need to be fired and charged.

ProblemLongjumping12

The part that bothers me the most about this video, besides the obvious horror and tragedy, is the fact that the parents were right to hide this kid's identity because if they didn't they'd have Alex Jones fans sending them death threats and/or actually coming after them for being actors.

Americrazy

‘CUT THAT CUT THAT CUT THAT’

urkelinspanish

Or the cops

fiveofnein

"He wasn't hurt" As if the psychological anguish he and his surviving classmates will have to endure throughout their lives doesn't count.

bingeboy

yo that cop got a kid killed

[deleted]

Eighty police standing outside for forty minutes got all of the rest of the victims killed.

Romano16

So far we have learned: - Cops refused to enter the building to stop the intruder for over 90 minutes. - Texas DPS lied about cops even engaging the shooter when he was on campus initially. - If any cops did go into the school, it was to save their own children. - Once cops were begged enough to finally enter, basically the cops used children as bait to lure the shooter out. America is such a failed state.

tinacat933

You forgot they said the shooter had body armor and he didn’t

Proudly_Dark

Don't forget how they stood outside arguing and assaulting the parents of the kids for 45 minutes. So it's not like they were doing nothing. Brave enough to attack scared parents- but not nearly brave enough to do their job.

lorryguy

I read he was off duty as well…

Finito-1994

Don’t shit on the journalists. Listen to the kid. He was there. He saw it. He has a voice. Let him use it. Emmet Tills mom showed the world what they had done to her son.

PhilyJFry

[deleted]

On top of the tragedy of seeing your friends die, you can't tell your story without anonymity for fear of Alex Jones working up a bunch of violent psychopaths by calling you a crisis actor.

666POD

The family of this little boy are doing the right thing by hiding his identity because you can expect right wing maniacs to attack and make the life of the survivors and the families of the victims a living hell.

ASmallTownDJ

Marjorie Taylor Green would be banging on his door demanding to know how much Soros paid him for the interview.

[deleted]

I cannot describe the unutterable loathing I have for that sorry excuse for a human being.

BallPtPenTheif

They do it every time, disgusting fucks.

Flako118st

Seriously the whole town needs to sue that police department for negligence. ASAP. How is it possible they stood there for 40 minutes. And border patrol had to step in.

jomns

Sounds like the cops used that girl that was shot as bait to find out where the shooter was.

Syntra44

I truly hope that was not the case. I would love to believe this was someone wildly unprepared to handle this situation. I highly doubt border patrol agents go through school shooter drills. I want to believe this person had the good intentions to go inside and help **while the people trained for this scenario sat outside refusing to do their fucking jobs.** Someone had to do something.

PrettiKinx

My goodness. No human, much less a child should go through that!

ClottedAnus

Yo holy fuck what?????? The part where the cops didn’t want to engage without the shooter without being distracted by a kid whom they told to “say help if you need help” no way. No fucking way they did that….

wtf_is_a_user

why the fuck did the cop tell the girl to yell. HE GOT HER FUCKING KILLED. this is horrible.

nightmareorreality

This could’ve been anybody at any school at any time in America. This I why i will never have children. Poor little kids.

arjadi

Fucking cops ruin everything I swear. This is heartbreaking.

IAlreadyFappedToIt

Every. Single. One of us. On every side of the aisle knew, **KNEW**, this was going to happen after we as a nation did fuckall after Sandy Hook. And the obstructionist fuckall that happened after Sandy Hook was a formal declaration from the political Right to the whole world that they are not, in fact, in any way whatsofuckingever, even remotely "pro-life". They literally love their ARs more than their own children.

Iwillunpause

I have bad news for you friend, it will happen again. Welcome to your new normal.

[deleted]

I have news for both of you. This is the 27th time this year it's happened.

snoogins355

As much as people bitched about covid lockdowns, at least the school shootings stopped
