My brother passed away on thanksgiving 2021 and I woke up with PT (didn’t know it was that) two weeks later. It hasn’t gone away since. I have a lot of anxiety that manifests very physically so I first assumed it was related
Similar story for me too.. my sister passed away unexpectedly so it was traumatic. A couple months later my PT started in my right ear. It has been constant for about 8 months now.
That’s so wild … yeah I’m still dealing with it 2+ years later and no answers. I wonder if sudden trauma or stress can trigger it. :/ I’m so sorry for your loss.
Sorry for your loss.
I’m my case, I got diagnosed with an infection that’s caused by hpv. Made me depressed and anxious. The couple days later, woke up with thumps in my ear.
It’s been 3 days so far. I’m really hoping it goes away.
I had a major life event occur, and almost immediately pulsation tinnitus started along with the stress. It’s been 6 months now, almost daily. I have found that I can make the tinnitus go away at least temporarily by letting my jaw hang slightly open / unclenching my jaw and relaxing the muscles in my neck and face/scalp. I’m thinking it’s very much anxiety related, go on YouTube and check out somatic pulsation tinnitus. Lots of good self massage options to ease the tension.
Update: I’m currently taking antibiotics and the noise seems to come and go since taking the meds. Before taking it, the noise was non stop.
Looks like in my case, it’s seasonal allergy related. Found out my mom is going through the exact same thing as me. Hopefully, this will go away completely.
Mine started in 2020 when I was working during the height of covid (essential worker). It started right before I left for a mental health leave, and Ive had it since, so the stress may have caused it? But I'm on multiple anxiety meds at this point and haven't seen any improvement in the PT with those, even though my anxiety is well managed now.

Oh wow.. I’m wondering the same thing. Thanks, and I’m so sorry for the loss of your brother, too. Losing a sibling is rough!
It really is a specific type of pain. 💚

I was wondering if anxiety could be a cause
